If there was any connection between them, Alfonso would definitely lose his cool and reach out to them. I had already had Simon send someone to check it out!

There was definitely a connection.

Simon's investigations were always spot on.

While Alfonso was busy dealing with Knox, I would head to the police station and report that they had been stealing our company's ideas and trade secrets.

That would hit him hard.

With that plan in mind, I stood up and grabbed my phone, just as Savannah called.

"Caroline, weren't we supposed to go to the police station together today?"

"Yeah, we were," I confirmed.

"Actually, I have another idea. How about we wait a bit before going?" Savannah suggested.

I asked, "Why?"

Savannah said it was too complicated to explain over the phone and suggested we meet in person.

Half an hour later, we met at a different restaurant.

Savannah looked like she had just finished some task and was starving, ordering several dishes from the menu.

Seeing that I barely touched my food, she asked, puzzled, "Caroline, aren't you hungry?"

I shook my head. "I had coffee with Alfonso this afternoon."

Hearing that name, Savannah's eyes widened. "Why were you with him?"

I smiled. "It's nothing. I just wanted to confront him. Didn't I tell you? We have a lead on Knox, so I wanted to see if Alfonso would make any moves."

Savannah finally caught on, patting her head. "Sorry, so much has been happening lately. I've been a bit dizzy and forgot about that."

"It's okay, just focus on your own tasks. We're just getting started with this big mission. There will be plenty of busy times ahead. I don't want to push you guys too hard right now."

Savannah frowned. "I'll explain everything after I finish eating..."

"Go ahead and eat. You look like you haven't eaten in days." I smiled and handed her a napkin.

But my stomach was full of coffee, and I really didn't have an appetite.

As I watched Savannah eat, I kept thinking about my meeting with Alfonso today.

After a while, I took out my phone and sent a few messages to Royce.

I told Royce that I had confronted Alfonso, and if he made any moves next, we could take action.

Royce quickly replied, asking where I was.

I said I was having dinner with Savannah.

He replied, telling me to stay safe, as things had been unstable lately.

I glanced outside the restaurant. It was already evening.

It had been getting dark early lately, giving me an uneasy feeling.

Thinking about what happened this morning, I called Kelly and told her to be careful when picking up Brett, to come home early, and not to linger outside.

Kelly didn't understand why I was saying this but promised to follow my instructions before hanging up.

Savannah had almost finished eating and was about to say something when we heard a commotion outside.

The next second, someone came running towards us.

At first, I thought it was a waiter coming to tell us something, but when I looked up, I saw it was Brandon!

Compared to the last time I saw him looking disheveled, he looked much better now, wearing a suit.

He looked well-groomed, clearly having put some effort into his appearance.

"Didn't expect to see you here, Caroline!" Brandon stood in front of my table and spoke to me.

Hearing him speak made me feel disgusted. "What are you doing here?"

"Are you surprised to see me? I told you last time, I would show up again." Brandon said this with a hint of pride, "You should be asking what I want to talk to you about now."

I didn't want to give him the satisfaction, so I just glared at him.

Brandon stared at me for a moment, seemingly realizing he was wasting his time, and coldly said, "Caroline, since I got out, I've been thinking about one thing. Our divorce was settled too easily. All the terms were set by you, and the kids went to you. Why? I'm their father too. Now I want to go to court to apply for custody and visitation rights. I can't be denied that, can I?"

The thing I feared most had finally happened. Hearing Brandon say this, I shouted, "Brandon, what do you want? You did those things to me back then and almost killed our kids. What right do you have to talk about custody?"

If it weren't for Brandon's family, my kids wouldn't have suffered so much.

Thinking about it made me furious. "There's no way you'll get custody or visitation rights. If you go to court, I'll get a lawyer to fight you!"

"Besides, by law, you're supposed to pay child support. Have you paid a single cent these past few months?"

Brandon sneered, "How could I pay? You left me with nothing when we divorced, and when my mom passed away, all her inheritance went to you!"

This matter had already been settled, but hearing him bring it up again gave me a bad feeling. "That money was returned to your family. There's no need to keep bringing it up!"

"You didn't return it! That was just your scheme. I know you still have that money. It shouldn't mean much to you, right? If you don't care about money, just give it to me!" In just a few words, Brandon revealed his true intentions.

I coldly said, "There's no way I'm giving it to you. Give up on that idea."

"You're getting bolder..." He said, reaching for my wrist.

Savannah couldn't sit still any longer. She picked up a cup of tea from the table and threw it at Brandon. "Stop making a scene here. Do you want to be sent to the police station again?"

Savannah knew who Brandon was and despised everything he had done. "You only know how to bully others. You have no real skills, just a puppet for others."

Brandon hated being talked to like that and stepped forward, "What did you say?"

Savannah stood up, "You want to fight? I've been in a bad mood lately. I can beat you up so badly you won't even be able to move. Want to try?"

Savannah didn't want to resort to violence unless necessary.

But now, it was clear Brandon was being a bully.
