Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 10: Confrontation
Caspian had been nervous entering the ballroom. His mate was here, she had to be here, or so he hoped. Walking to the throne, he had to hold himself back to keep from going to find her. His heart raced. He gave a speech trying to keep it as short as possible so he could get it over with.
As the music started to play, he smelled that scent he had longed for. Strawberries and vanilla. Scanning the room he could not pin point where it was coming from. There were too many people. Their scents mixing togther.
His eyes locked with another.
On the balacony she stood there watching him like a goddess. He almost fell to his knees. She was beautiful. His mate could not be more perfect. The beauty was looking at him. He had to get to her.
He exhaled a breathe, not knowing he had been holding it in. Looking for the stairs, he started making his way to her. "*Gabe. Enzo. I found her.*" He mindlinked his beta and gamma.
Caspian had not been a ray of sunshine since he found his mate's scent, leaving Enzo and Gabe to deal with the testy alpha.
"*Thank the moongodess*" Enzo breathed.
"*Who? Where is she?*" Gabe linked back.
"*Balcony, red dress.*" The king answered as he made it to the base of the stairs.
"*Wow*" they both linked after spotting her.
He growled, scaring the people he passed on the stairs. Already territorial, causing a chuckle from his beta. He wanted to run to her but held himself back.
Clearing the landing, he went straight to her with a smile on his face.
"Hello mate" he said smiling to her.
"Your grace" she said bowing and had an expressionless face.
Caspian wavered. She did not look happy to see him.
"May I ask who you are?" Caspian questioned cautiously. Could she not smell him the way he smelled her?
Before she could respond Edmund walked up behind his brother joining his friends. "You mean you don't recognize Alexia brother?" he said. "She is from SIlver Moon, remember when we all used to play together as childern?"
Caspian paused. Thinking. He looked at his brother and surveyed the others around him then spoke. "You are Alpha Jacob's daughter then?"
It was Luca who cut in, moving closer to his sister, with a sharp "Yes."
The king's eyes narrowed at him, letting out a low growl ready to fight for his mate.
"Do not growl at my brother" Alexia spoke up, eyes locked on the king. Caspian released all anger at the sound of his mate's voice.
"Your brother... Luca, if I remember correctly." Caspian said.
Luca nodded and Edmund snorted causing Caspian to turn to him.
Before the brothers could argue Alexia spoke up "Thank you both but I will speak with king myself. Alone."
Alexia walked away to a more secluded place on the balcony with Caspian on her heels, eager to follow his mate. When they stopped he took in her beauty. Thanking the moongoddess for blessing him.
"You are my mate" he said looking at her.
"Yes" she breathless unable to look him in the eye.
"You are unhappy?" he questioned. His heart threatening to tear itself open at the answer.
"I am unhappy..... with how I found out....." she said holding her emotions back.
"And how was that?" he insisted worried with her answer.
"By hearing you with another woman in your bed" she said not sheilding her disgust.
His face dropped. He worst fear come true. "I'm sorry" he choked.
"Oh well do not worry for me, you have your chosen mate...." she trailed.
"What?!? No, no, no I don't want her. I was drunk.I didn't know!" He begun tripping over his own words unable to form sentence. He could not lose her. He just found her and now she was slipping through his fingers. "You are my mate. I want YOU. Please just give me a chance to prove it to you"
Alexia met his eyes, they looked sincere. Even, a little scared. She studied him before speaking.
"I'm not over it and definetly not happy about it. But I will give you a chance to change my mind." she spoke.
"Thank you, I-I just want to get to know you and prove to you I can be a good mate." His voice broke, his eyes wide.
Without realizing it Alexia leaned in towards him. Their bodies like magnets. They moved closer till a voice broke their trance.
"There you are! I've been looking all over for you!" Delilah.
Alexia let out a sound of disgust.
"Delilah go away, why are you even here?" Caspian demanded.
"Why am I here? I am an alpha's daughter of course and I had to come see you." She responded as she tried to hug him. Caspian stepped out of reach causing her to stumble.
After she picked herself up, Delilah then turned her attention to Alexia "Who is this little pup?" She asked.
Alexia did not back down giving the she-wolf a look that caused her to take a step back.
Just then Gabriel appeared. "Ah the dark witch has returned to spread misery wherever she may go. I suggest you start moving before I have to drag you away" He said flatly.
She turned to look at the king but he was giving her look that made her scamper away. "Fine!" she angerliy stomped away.
Turning back to Alexia he could see the anger in her eyes. She started to move away when he grabbed her hand. Electricity.
"Please don't go" he said holding her hand.
"I wish to return to my family." she said not meeting his eyes.
"Promise me you will give me a chance to earn your trust" he said pleading.
Alexia gave a short nod. He held her hand a moment more than dropped it.
He watched as she walked away. Rejoining her friends and then descending the staircase together.
Caspian spent the rest of the night talking with alphas. Each trying to carry favor. He would steal glances Alexia. He caught her looking several times making him smile.
What did not make him smile was the amount of attention she was recieving from male wolves. He did not see when she retired but Enzo informed him that she had made it safely to her room. As gamma it was his job to protect the queen even if she was not officially the queen but she was Caspian's mate.
Caspian sat at his desk staring at the wall after the ball. Gabe and Enzo walked in while he was thinking about the night.
Breaking the silence Gabe let out a loud breathe. "Well, you found her and you could not have picked a better mate. Alpha Jacob's daghter, those are some strong bloodlines."
"I think I may have messed it up before it even began though...." Caspian trailed off.
"You will earn her trust" Enzo said trying to cheer him up.
"I have to. I don't know what it is with Delilah. I don't even like her? But she keeps ending up in my bed when I get drunk..."
"It's the alcohol. Once, I drank a lot of vodka and I thought it would be good idea to go swimming in the lake. In the dead of winter. Naked." Gabe said.
"Yeah and I had to drag your butt inside while you were trying to fight me. I felt like one of those alligator handlers having to throw a towel on an alligator and then they have to jump on it and wrestle it." Enzo said shaking his head at the memory.
Caspian laughed quietly. His thoughts drifted to Alexia. He wanted watch and protect her 24/7.
"Don't worry about her. I already have guards watching keeping a distance and I am in charge of training. So, I will be able to watch her and see how good she is." Enzo said.
Caspian nodded. He trusted his beta and gamma with his life. He bid them good night and began to catch up on some work, knowing he would not be able to rest till he saw Alexia again.
