Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 77: Aftermath
When Gabe spoke, everyone stopped what they were doing.
“Wait till the pack has been notified then release the press statement,” Caspian ordered as their plan went into motion.
Since a royal warrior would have found the body, they would then in turn have to tell alpha's Howard pack of his dimise. The beta would be informed as he would be acting alpha till the next alpha in line came to power.
Alpha Howard had a young son who had yet to attend alpha training but would do so in the coming years. Once he was ready, he then would take over the pack. Till then the beta would be regent.
In order to follow protocol, the beta would be notified who would then tell the Alpha's family. Once the family was informed, the pack would be gathered and told. After the pack was given the news, the rest of the kingdom would be notified.
Through the night the males had worked out exactly which steps they were going to take following the discovery. Every step had to be carefully executed with precision to keep hysteria and panic down across the kingdom.
The statement they would release would be a vague document that would convey their sentiments but avoid addressing the issues directly. A game of cat and mouse.
"Will the family, not want to wait to have some privacy before the world is told? Should we wait a little longer?" Alexia asked worried about the Alpha's family.
"They will probably pop the champagne," Gabe said unfazed not bothering to look up.
Alexia tilted her head to the side. "His family does not even like him?"
"His mate is not a fan of mistresses, they however will probably miss him," Gabe told her.
Alexia kept her mouth shut but eyed Caspian for a second. If the king took a mistress, she could not imagine what she would do. With a shrug, she turned away.
She could not fathom males who roamed to other females. Her father had never taken a mistress and had always seemed devoted to her mother. Her home pack was much more powerful than Alpha Howard's and yet her father did not stray.
Not wanting to give anything away, they waited to officially receive news. Once the official death report had been given to the pack. Gabe began contacting all packs and media outlets to release the news.
Alexia felt completely useless.
The males worked at their well-thought-out plan and she sat there with nothing to do.
She sent Harley to check on Abi not wanting to overwhelm her with the presence of the queen at her door. Her secretary however would seem less intrusive and imposing.
Abi thanked her for checking on her but preferred to remain in her chambers.
Needing something to do, Alexia went with Harley to check on her study renovations. The workers were making quick work. As they took their lunch break she walked through the room. Noting the carpentry work, she was in awe of the craftsmanship. They had outdone themselves and could not wait to see the finished product.
As she exited the room, she gave her praise to the supervisor before returning to Caspian's office.
Gabe and Enzo had vacated the room leaving only Caspain.
"Have you run out of things to do already?" He asked.
"Yes, now I am just killing time till I am to meet with your mother." She said with a sigh as she sat back down.
He smiled "Later would you like to go for a run?"
"Really?" She sat up as it had been a few days since she had a proper run.
"Yes, I am getting sick of these walls. I need fresh air." He told her. "All packs have been notified so I have a few more hours of answering questions and then I will be done."
"Do you think this has anything to do with the rogue attacks?" She asked hesitantly now that they were alone.
"I don't know." He said with a sigh. He sounded slightly defeated by an unknown threat that he could not vanquish.
Alexia did not pester him anymore but left him alone to continue his work. When it was finally time for afternoon tea, Alexia almost jumped up in excitement at just needing something to do.
She gave Caspian a kiss before leaving and walked out the door. Through the halls, she made her way to the Queen Mother's study. She did not bother waiting to be announced as she was expected and walked into the open door.
Judy stood up to greet her "There you are." She said with a smile and kiss on the cheek when Alexia made her way over to her. Her jewelry jingled as she moved before ushering Alexia to sit.
"I hear it has been a long night." Judy began.
"You heard right," Alexia confirmed always amazed at how well she gathered intel.
"Get used to it, it will happen again," Judy said nonchalantly.
Alexia's eyes widened in surprise, she expected this to be a rare predicament.
Seeing her surprise, Judy decided to elaborate "There is always a battle for power and it is not always done in the most palatable manner."
Alexia let out a sigh. "I had the pleasure of dining with a member of Mourning Dew yesterday at lunch."
"I imagine that was not a pleasant experience. Do not trust a single one." Judy told her.
"That seems to be the consensus," Alexia said thinking about what she had been told.
"The worst ones are always the ones that smile to your face. It will make you lose your mind if you do not know who to trust." Judy told from what sounded like personal experience and Alexia was sure it was.
Switching the subject Judy began "Here have some tea and treats." She gestured to the spread that lay in front of them.
Alexia picked up a sandwich and a hot cup of tea. As Judy did the same.
"Now let's talk about the Blood Moon," Judy said.
