Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 94: Wash the Dishes
The sound of glass shattering had everyone turning to see what had happened. Amongst the shards too females yelled at one another.
“It is not fake! My mate gave it to me for our anniversary!” One female in a green dress with brown hair pointed to the ring on her finger after she had thrown her champagne down in a fit of rage.
The female standing across from her with blonde hair and a lilac dress scoffed at her response. “Look how dull it is, Of course, it’s fake. See mine-“ she pointed to the ring on her finger where a sapphire gem shined in the lights of the room. “It’s real.”
The two females began to screech at one another till guards were called to remove them. A minute longer and they may have resorted to hair pulling.
The pair watched the females be almost dragged out of the reception. Alpha Emerald stole glances at the prince and would be Alpha. Satisfied that things had been taken care he returned to his conversation about his renovation plans for his bathroom. Keeping their composure they continued to sip their drinks.
When the females were gone, their voices were eventually drained out over the resumed chatter and the music playing.
“Well, that was fun,” Edmund said dryly, bored with the chaos.
Luca added sarcastically. "Vain lightweights, what could possibly go wrong?"
One of Alpha Emerald’s daughters sauntered over toward the pair like a cat on the prowl. However, she lacked the grace of a cat as she swayed with her walk, mostly likely from excessive drinking indicated by the glass of wine in her hand.
Edmund tried to recall her name to his mind Oval? Opal? But he really did not care. They all looked the same.
“Your Highness.” She slurred her words with glassy eyes and went into a bow that had her barely managing not to fall over.
Luca raised an eyebrow and he watched the scene unfold as a bystander. The female before them was a sweaty mess that neither could possibly find attractive.
Out of nowhere, her mother came up behind her wrapping her arms around her daughter's shoulders trying to steady her.
The Luna stepped in trying to save her daughter from further embarrassment. “Forgive her, Your Highness as she has not been feeling well. It must be a cold.”
“I hear something has been going around.” His gaze landed on the inebriated people around the room. As he said that a laughing male began to fall over, had his friend not caught him, he would have crashed directly into a buffet table.
Following the prince’s gaze, she began to squirm slightly uncomfortably and seemed embarrassed by her daughter’s sloppy behavior. “I will escort her to her room and make sure she is properly looked after.”
There was a pause as Edmund took a moment to study the Luna closer. It was obvious she was not pleased with the drunkenness that was going on while her mate seemed to not have a care in the world and showed no signs of putting an end to it. “What a relief, it would be tragic if her condition were to worsen.”
The Luna bowed again as she steered her daughter away and kept her from making an even bigger fool of herself. The males watched as the pair left the room with the daughter struggling in her mother's grasp.
Unfortunately for the Luna, her other daughters seemed to be in similar states. Perhaps a trait they inherited from their father was drunk as well. Thankful the other two did not dare approach the prince but whispered words into the ears of their father's warriors.
"How long do we need to stay here for you to get what you need?" Edmund asked wanting to leave as soon as possible.
Luca shrugged. "About a week. I need to meet with the warriors and inspect the borders. I'm supposed to meet with the Alpha to discuss these things but he just rambles about himself the entire time.
"If he gives you trouble you should remind him of the Silver legacy. The Luna would probably be more helpful at least more able to hold a conversation. Plus I think she is annoyed by her husband." Edmund could not recall much if any information on the Luna from what Gabe had given him.
"Oh, she definitely is annoyed with him or at least his mistress," Luca said pointedly.
While the pair each grew up in loving families with parents who were loyal to one another, that was not always the case in other packs. Even with a mate, some would stray into the arms of another.
"Mistress? Are you sure he is not just looking at himself in the mirror? I think he likes himself best."
A Laugh. "No, I was following a money trail that seemed to be disappearing to make sure he was not funding a rebellion or anything. Turns out he just has a mistress in another pack."
A sigh came from Edmund. "Well, that's a relief. At least if he is focused on himself or banging a female he won't think about turning against the crown. Does the Luna know?"
Luca gestured with his hand. "I cannot fathom how not, he is not exactly subtle. It hardly took any effort to discover it."
"What pack is the mistress in?" Edmund questioned praying to the goddess that it was not a volatile pack.
"Garden's gate."
Garden's Gate Pack was known for its beautiful gardens and its main export was floral products and other herb commodities. Like the Gemstone Pack, they were not known for their warriors but would never shy away from a party. They had never been involved in a scuffle before and caused no problems but that could be due to the fact that they were usually stoned and lounged around most of the day.
"Flowers. Figures, he is all about the pretty things in life."
The males recapped the information they had gathered as they enjoyed not being approached. It was too soon to leave but it was getting late into the night. The music played as the guests did their best to dance along in their current state.
Luca's brows furrowed “I was surprised to hear you would be leaving the castle so soon after an attack.”
A shrug. “I figured, it was decided to use me as bait.”
Luca paused as he began to bring his drink to his lips, he turned his head looking at Edmund seriously. “That’s cold.”
“That’s life in the royal family. Better something happens to me rather than Caspian.” A sad truth but still true.
Edmund did not know what time it was when he finally was able to leave and make his way to his accommodations. It was dark and late was all he knew.
He stepped into the room and found a scantly clothed female draped across the bed. His hand paused on the door handle as he stared at her. He shouldn’t have been surprised as it happened quite frequently, females trying to make their way into his bed. The late hour had him tired and not in the mood to play games.
“My prince.” She got up walking across the room and bowing before him. Her bosom was on full display as she dropped to her knees. “I hope to be of use to you.” She said with a seduction in her voice that drew the average male to her.
Dressed in only a handkerchief of a nightgown that was draped with a robe that was completely see-through, nothing was left to the imagination. Every curve of her body was on full display as her neck, hands, and ears were covered in jewels that caught the light.
"Is that so?" He questioned her like a cat leading a mouse into a trap.
A smile spread across her face as she eyed him like a prized pony she had won, her greed on full display. "Yes, I will do anything your heart desires Your Highness."
His voice was soft and coaxing. "Anything?"
"Anything." She spoke seductively to him.
Edmund however was not impressed. Not even a little. “I do have use for you.”
Her ears perked up as she smiled at him greedily. “Anything my prince.”
“Please assist the kitchens in cleaning the glasses. I saw too many with water spots tonight so they just need the extra help. You’re dismissed.”
Her head spun as her mouth dropped open. “I… umm... I do not work in the kitchens. Would you not rather I stay here and keep you company?”
“You do tonight, now go.” He waved his hand to the hallway causing her to gather herself as she stumbled out the door.
Edmund shut the door with extra force and let out a sigh. It was only the beginning.
