Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 26: Little Sister
Morgan made her way into the sitting room at her mother's behest. Eyeing everyone and everything suspiciously. She felt as if the world had changed directions in which it spun. Something was off. The people in the room put off a strange vibe that made her anxiously pull at her sundress. The cotton fabric rubbed between her fingers as she shifted from foot to foot. The chances the twins had gotten in trouble were high. It was not every day that the king arrived and with her sister.
Alexia saw her uneasiness and went to her, striding quickly across the room. "Morgan" She said, with a smile gracefully stretching across her lips, she looked down at her sister. "I've missed you little sister" She continued as she reassuringly took morgan's hands into her own. "Let's go for a walk!" She exclaimed already pulling her little sister out of the door.
Alexia led morgan down the steps and out into the woods. When she felt the fresh air hit her face, she released a breath that felt like an elephant on her chest. Taking a familar trail, her steps fell into an at ease pace. The smells of the forest engulfed her, like a warm blanket. It gave her sense of peace as she felt at home in her element.
The forest had always been where she had gone to escape. No pressure of being the alpha's daughter. She would run to her paradise armed with a book in hand. Finding a soft patch of moss she would dive into a book and escape her current world by reading another.
The birds sang their songs above their heads, bringing back memories of those peaceful times. The trail turned and went up and down. Over Rocks and under fallen trees, they went deeper into the forest they went. Alexia tried to work up the courage to straight out with the news.
As they walked in silence morgan became impatient. "So what did you do?" Morgan finally asked with attitude. Alexia stopped short and looked at her while she asked "What do you mean?" with a raised eyebrow and her lips pursed.
"I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what you could have down to warrant a visit from the king." Morgan said and as Alexia looked at her dumbfounded she continued. "If you guys tied Chris to flagpole again I do not think the king would concern himself with that. Therefore!" She said exasperated "The only thing I could possibly imagine is that somehow your band of brainless brothers started a war!" Morgan finished throwing her hands in the air.
The corner of Alexia's mouth twitched fighting a smile.
"It's not funny!" Morgan exclaimed "I've been worried since I saw the royal flags on the cars pull into our driveway!"
Alexia smiled as she said "Well you see I have caused some trouble.."
"I knew it" Morgan said crossing her arms looking at her sister.
"You see I am going to need your help.." Alexia told her.
"With what?" Morgan asked cautiously, bracing herself.
"With planning my coronation of course" Alexia responded matter of factly.
Morgan's face was completely blank as what her sister said had completly passed over her head. As she slowly pieced together what had been said, Alexia could almost hear the wheels turning in her head. Then with what almost was the sound of a lightbulb going off in her head, Morgan Gasped "NNNOOOOO" with eyes wide.
"Yes" was all Alexia said softly.
"When? Where? How?" Morgan peppered her with questions, jumping with each question unable to contain herself. As Morgan jumped around her Alexia said "Easy, settle down" She laughed placing her hands on her little sister's shoulders to settle her. "Friday the announcement will be made, so you must keep quiet till then." She stressed with knowing eyebrows.
"Ohhhh I will I contain myself?" Morgan responded throwing her arms up and spinning around in a circle. "The biggest news of my life and you want me to stay silent?" Morgan said dramatically.
Alexia rolled her eyes as she said "I have faith in you, besides you have a dress to pick out for the ball."She said as if tossing bait.
Morgan took the bait as she regained her spirit. "A ROYAL BALL!!!! Yes and MY sister will be queen. Maybe now Cassandra will stop gloating that Prince Edmund caught her when she was falling at the last ball. I do not believe that she did not do that on purpose" Morgan said mostly talking to herself.
"Well let's head back I have some things I need to attend to back at the palace." Alexia said directing her sister back to the packhouse.
"Oh yes the palace!" Morgan said with glee and was so giddy she skipped through the trees. Alexia almost had to run keep up with morgan.
As they approached the packhouse Alexia could barely make out her mate standing on the training field next to her father. His stance gave off the auroa of power and strength. It made her stop in her tracks and stare.
After a minute she made her way to him. Morgan went off in search of their mother, eager to start planning her new dress. "Spectacular!" she had repeated on their walk back waving her arms. It brought joy to Alexia's heart to see her so happy.
The king turned sensing her approach, realizing that there were people around she quickly lowered her head in a bow and said "Your majesty" with a smirk. His smiled down on her as he asked "Were you successful in your mission?"
"Oh yes, quite so" she said with a laugh.
"Well, If you are ready, we will need to return the palace." He said as if he was sorry to be taking her away from her family.
"I will bid my mother farewell and then I will be ready to leave." She said turning to go in search of Sheila.
