Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 122: More the Merrier
The morning sun woke Alexia from her slumber. Caspian was holding her with his eyes closed but his breathing told her that he was awake.
She reached for his face gently stroking his cheek. He kissed her hand in appreciation. They lay there in silence just looking at each other their eyes roaming every inch of the other as if at any second they would disappear into the wind.
A knock at the door echoed causing Alexia to sit up.
“Ignore it,” Caspian said not moving.
“Are you sure?” She asked as another knock rang out.
“It’s Gabe. Pay him no mind.” He stroked her arm reassuringly.
Satisfied that it was not an emergency, she lay back down. They stayed there neither initiating it to go further just breathing in the scent of one another as if it were the only thing keeping them alive.
After several minutes, the knocking returned and Caspian groaned.
“Do you have to go?” Her eyes looked to his hopefully.
“If I don’t, he will not go away.” He said with annoyance as if he were referring to a pest.
Another knock had Caspian growling. His voice shook the walls causing the knocking to cease.
Rising from the bed, they each set about their morning routine washing and dressing themselves.
Even though Caspian finished dressing long before Alexia, he waited for her in the doorway busying himself by checking his phone. Satisfied, she stepped out of the bathroom in a dress and comfortable shoes with her hair perfectly styled.
“Beautiful,” Caspian said as he looked up from his phone promptly putting it away and reaching his hand out to her. Happily, she accepted his hand and allowed herself to be led out the door.
They passed Enzo making his way to his chambers. Covered in dirt and sporting a busted lip. Alexia came to a full stop while Caspian showed no sign of worry.
“Are you alright?” Alexia looked at him in alarm as he stopped walking and bowed to the royal couple.
“Of course, just some intense sparring your majesty.” His words tried to reassure the Queen.
“Are you sure?” His brow creased as look closer.
“Yes I just need to freshen up and I will be ready in no time.” He brushed off her worry and Caspian just studied him.
Alexia looked to Caspian who had said nothing during the exchange and then back to Enzo. "Then we will not keep you." She said in a dismissal but watched as the gamma left her sight.
"I am worried about him." She looked back to her mate searching his face for answers.
"He does seem off this morning." He concurred but tried to seem nonchalant.
"It's more than that." She pressed. "He has been like that for days."
"Then perhaps he worked it out of the system."
Alexia thought about how Caspian had resulted in physical exertion when his mind was muddled. "If you say so."
He gave her a reassuring squeeze of the hand and kissed the top of her head. "Don't worry about him, he is fine."
Secretly, Caspian was worried as it was not like Enzo to lose control. He was the most level-headed which is why he trusted Alexia's life with him.
He prompted her to keep walking to help distract her. They were last to arrive at breakfast as the prince and the members of the royal family were already seated but stood to greet them.
Caspian pulled out Alexia's chair that was to the right of his before lowering himself into his own at the head of the table with that action the group retook their seats.
"Good morning, I trust you slept well. Please enjoy." Caspain signaled the beginning of the meal and the servants sprang into action.
Noticeably absent was Ruhn but Greyson was seated next to the prince nursing a cup of coffee.
Harley had not been waiting for her which had seemed odd but since Gabe came to their chambers this morning it seemed the secretary had attended to other tasks as she stood away from the table with folders and notebooks in hand.
Breakfast was an impressive spread as the servants laid out various dishes for the guests to help themselves. Everyone seemed to enjoy and talk amongst one another. Caspain kept one of Alexia's hands in his hand as he wanted to keep her close.
Keeping a close eye on the guests, Alexia noticed how Cynthia's eyes kept looking towards the door. She wondered if that was for her brother's arrival or Enzo's.
The Silvers were on high alert for any threat as Luca and Abi had deferred to spend the morning in their chambers as they were not present and Morgan was seated directly between her parents.
"Your Majesty, if it would not be too much trouble I would love a tour of the palace grounds," Dristan spoke to Alexia who looked up to meet his eyes.
The request was expected after her discussion with Caspian who would prefer her to ignore the request. Ignoring the request may raise questions as to why and she lacked a suitable excuse therefore she decided to give in and leave early if need be.
She feigned contemplation at his words and pursed her lips. "Perhaps I have some time this morning."
Looking to Harley who pretended to look over the Queen's schedule and then nodded.
However, Caspian interjected. "Alpha Silver, are you available to accompany them this morning?" He spoke to his father-in-law before looking to the PRince "You do wish to learn about Silvers, do you not?"
"Of course, more the merrier." But the words did not meet his eyes.
"I am happy to do so Your Majesty." Jacob smiled with the eyes of a seasoned warrior as he studied the prince.
As breakfast was drawing to a close, Enzo arrived freshly showered and his busted lip healing to almost unnoticeable. Harley handed him the updated Queen's schedule who nodded as he read it but showed no emotion. A servant brought him a fresh cup of coffee as he waited for the Queen.
"I have duties to attend, have a wonderful day," Caspian said as he kissed his mate's cheek before standing and giving Alpha Jacob a knowing look.
Alpha Jacob would give his life for his daughter and the only reason he was able to leave her or not drag her to his study with him.
As the king left others began to file out of the room after the meal. Prince Dristan came to stand next to the queen as she rose from her seat. "Shall we?"
