The White Wolf Chapter 65: The Upcoming Lunar Event

The words rang into Alexia’s ears but their meaning was completely lost on her.

Looking around the room, Harleys’s brows furrowed and Enzo’s eyes narrowed as if he was trying to read Blossom’s mind. The other guard remained motionless declining to join in the conversation.

Alexia scanned her mind for some recollection of the significance of the blood moon. The only one in her lifetime that she had experienced had been when she was but a small child. Some images from the night flashed in her mind. Bonfires. Howling. Dancing.

Forgetting her pride, Alexia stated dryly “You will have to enlighten me on the significance of the blood moon apart from the unique color.”

Blossom smiled at the statement “The blood moon is more sacred than most are aware. Yes, the moon changes to the color of blood, causing many to worship and celebrate it but it is much more. It is a night unlike any other.”

An eerie feeling took root in Alexia's stomach. This conversation seemed to get worse and worse with no end in sight. She mentally added blood moon to the ever going list of topics to research. Fighting back a sigh, she returned her attention to Blossom.

"Wolves instinctually celebrate the blood moon in various gatherings whether they know why or not." Her voice stated matter of factly. "We are all drawn together on the night of the blood moon because of the power it brings. In our bones, the moon's power radiates through our bodies making us stronger for that night. For many, their instincts completely take over. Fighting for position in rank or fighting over mates is quite common, especially in wolves that are already more how do you say? Volatile." Blossom explained

Enzo cocked an eyebrow but refrained from cutting in and squabbling with Blossom again.

Blossom continued "You see it was foretold that through the blood moon, the moon goddess blessed the first beings with her power and they became the ancestors of all the wolves today. That is why the blood moon's power is so strong."

"So in other words the blood moon is a giant birthday party. Got it." Enzo spoke dryly

"It is a sacred lunar event that should be respected!" Blossom almost shouted and stopped herself as she began to stand up out of her seat. "Forgive me your Highness for my outburst, while yes that is essentially the gist of the event it should not be taken so lightly as it is sacred."

Alexia who was in her thoughts barely looked at her as she dismissed the notion with a wave of her hand.

"I would like to warn you to be careful because like I said, wolves instincts take over and it can become quite dangerous around certain wolves and it should not be taken lightly." The look in Bloosom's eyes told the queen the forest healer was very much serious, something she would need to discuss with her mate. Surely they would be expected to celebrate in some capacity.

Speaking up Alexia asked, "Let me ask you this then, why were you interested in the Stagg sighting?"

As time passed, Alexia had almost forgotten the whole purpose of her journey. She contemplated that Caspian only allowed her to leave the palace to placate her curiosity and assumed no harm could become of her. He would not be pleased with their discussion but Alexia was intrigued.

"Because with the moon goddess's power blessing wolves is so soon, a sighting of her messenger might mean something. I will need to study further if perhaps this blood moon has any historical significance."

"Or it could mean nothing." Enzo instigated causing Blossom to throw daggers with her eyes at him.

"Huh," Alexia said to herself mostly ignoring the others in the room.

Thinking of her brother, Alexia wondered how Luca's information hunt was going. She still had not heard from him and then on top of that, there were her reservations about his mate being a possible danger to the both of them. It was too bad they had no other white wolves to speak to and ask questions.

"If the queen has any more questions, can we contact you to answer them?" Harley asked very professionally.

"Of course!" Blossom responded eagerly forgetting her previous angst and proceeded to give any important contact information to Harley who quickly scribbled it down in her notepad.

The sun was beginning its march toward the west drawing Alexia's attention to the window "Oh the time, we must be on our way Thank you for taking the time to meet with us and discuss." Alexia said as she rose to her feet. The others immediately followed her and prepared for their departure, Enzo linking their escorts to prepare.

"It was my pleasure your majesty and fave me a chance to speak on topics I normally do not get to." She said with a smile as she escorted the entourage out the door.

"It was an interesting conversation, perhaps we can converse more at a later date," Alexia said as she practiced her smile. Future engagements would dictate her smile even when she was uncomfortable or nervous so she might as well start practicing.

"I would enjoy that, and Thank you for gracing my humble abode with your presence if there is anything I can ever assist you with I am happy to do so "

"That is very kind of you," Alexia responded as she turned to climb into the vehicle that she had arrived in and begin the journey back to the palace.

"And please be careful during the blood moon!" Blossom called as they were making their exit

It was Enzo who decided to chide her one last time before leaving the premise as he called over his shoulder "We'll be sure to put out lots of cake and balloons."

The comment had Blossom narrowing her eyes and looking as if she was about to start spitting like a mad cat but as Alexia turned, she swore she saw the faint traces of a smile playing on the gammas lips.
