Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 104: Conquering Warrior
“Well, it is for you so instead it’s actually your surprise.” His hands crossed as he spoke.
“My surprise? What is it?” Her interest was perked even more with his clarification.
He huffed. “Then it would not be a surprise. Patience my Queen.” His rebuke caused her to pout out her lip.
She sat there watching expertly tie his tie.
After he finished tying his tie, Caspian crossed the room to throw open the door. Standing there confused, Alexia watched as everything happened.
On the other side holding a black box stood Enzo with a bored expression. “You’re package sire.” He said holding out the box with an exaggerated bow and a smirk.
“You barely made it,” Caspian said taking the box from Enzo’s extended arms.
Straightening Enzo scoffed not deterred by the scolding. “You’re lucky it made it at all.”
Since she had last seen the gamma, he had changed his clothes into a tux that was adorned with two medals hanging from ribbons on the left side of his chest.
It seemed during his security duties he also ran errands for the king.
Not wanting to listen anymore, Caspian turned around before kicking the door shut in Enzo’s face ending their conversation. Alexia as the door shut on Enzo’s stunned face.
She stared at the box as Caspian approached her. Lifting the lid as he reached her, he revealed a dazzling crown.
“I had it commissioned.” He stated holding the lid as she just stared at the piece of craftsmanship that lay before her.
Enlightening her, he continued “I had it made to match your dress.” Caspian said as he sat the box down before taking the crown in his hands to place it on top of her head.
How he had managed to do it, she did not know but his gesture touched her so much she could hardly speak.
Her gown was pure white and fit her body well but not too tight. At the shoulders fell a cape whose edge was embodied in gold thread that stopped at her elbows. Her eyes were adorned with gold jewelry to match the gold on her dress. Hair hair was curled with part of it fixed up. With simple white gloves and heels, there was only one thing missing a crown to adorn her head.
She noticed it was not like any crown she had seen before but resembled something ancient. From gold had been sculpted two olive branches to wrap around her head. It was not the crown of a dainty princess but a conquering warrior.
Her voice choked up as she spoke trying not to cry “It’s perfect.”
“After this, we will work on adding your own touch to the Crown Jewels.” The thought of commissioning her own jewels put a smile on her face.
Caspian stepped back to admire his mate. After looking at her, he walked over to their sitting area. He retrieved a set of twin blue sashes, each containing his family crest. The thinner one he placed on his mate, went from her right shoulder to her left hip. With the other, he did the same to himself.
Holding out his arm, Alexia wrapped hers in it and he led them out the door.
They walked through the halls. As they approached the area where the guests had there’s, the sounds of voices increased. The kitchen must have been in full swing as the wonderful smells wafted through the air.
Alexia began to get hungry as she ate just a little to tide her over throughout the day. Her dress fit snuggly with a little room for her breath. It was hard for her to steady her breathing as they approached the reception.
Light drifted in from the windows of the palace casting shadows on them as they passed from the sunset. The days grew longer as winter faded into spring leaving just a crisp chill in the air.
Their footsteps echoed through the halls as they made their journey in silence till they reached their destination.
Doors were all that separated them. Looking at a nearby clock, the time showed they were a few minutes behind schedule. Outside of the door waiting for them was Harley as Gabe would be inside handling the guests.
The murmur of voices could be heard as they waited to make their entrance. No doubt the forgiven guests were the topic of curiosity. Many high-ranking alphas in the kingdom jumped at a chance to take a look at the prince. Some out of curiosity and others for personal gain and schemes.
“Your majesties.” Harley greeted with a bow. “All guests have arrived.” She reported proudly having been patiently waiting for their arrival. Clipboard in hand, after the royal couple made their entrance she would scurry off to make sure everything went smoothly. Between her and Gabe the two would be handling most of if not all the duties of overseeing the event.
Alexia let out a breath she had not realized she had been holding. “Good.”
She would have turned around and waited for the prince to arrive if she had to but thankfully it did not come to such action.
Caspian gave the footmen the signal to open the doors who then signaled that it was time to announce the royal arrival.
Finally, it was time to face it. Face him. The prince she did not know but did loathe already. She realized Caspian’s arm so she could walk in on her own at his side.
Trumphets played followed by a booming voice announcing the King and Queen. As the voice spoke, the footmen opened the door to allow the royal couple to enter.
Holding her head, Alexia followed Caspian in. Once they were inside they were greeted by a sea of bowing heads. The visitors were easy to pick out from the faces. Time passed before Caspian allowed them to rise in a voice that screamed dominance and strength. It sent excited chills down her spine as he directed their subjects.
They made their way deeper into the room causing the voices to resume in a low murmur. Chatter began but no real conversation was had as all eyes were on the King and Queen.
At their approach, Gabe stepped forward from wherever he had been standing to begin making introductions.
Their guests from the eastern kingdom would be greeted first. Keeping a neutral face, Gabe began to speak. “May I present to your majesties, Prince Dristan.”
Stepping forward dressed in royal finery, the prince gave a half-hearted bow. His brown hair was carefully arranged without a strand out of place. His brown eyes did not seem to be impressed as he spoke. “Your majesties.”
Alexia kept her eyes straight and void of emotion as she readied herself for this interaction. It was more than a simple meeting or dinner. It was veiled warfare.
