The White Wolf Chapter 171: Meeting with the Enemy

Waiting felt like an eternity. The clock ticked as the minutes passed. Alexia thought about her decision over and over again, second-guessing it multiple times as she sat there waiting.

She did her best to not acknowledge Delilah. Ignore her existence. Now she had to face her head on.

Alexia sat in her chair till she heard a knock at the door. By the timidness of it, she knew it was Harley letting her know that Delilah had arrived.

Waiting a few seconds, she gathered herself. “Enter,” she said as she looked down and began to write. She was on autopilot not really knowing what she was writing. Something about gardening plans.

The door opened to reveal Harley who stepped aside to allow Delilah to enter. Standing at the door, Harley looked hesitant to leave. Finally, she left pulling the door shut behind her.

Head held high, Delilah strutted into the queen's study. She wore a tight dress that left little to the imagination with heels that echoed across the floor. Heavy makeup adorned her face in vast contrast to the Queen's more subtle look. Opposites meeting one another.

“Your Majesty” she bowed with a smirk once she was a few feet from the desk. It worked. She was too arrogant to resist.

Alexia waited for a beat before looking up. “Ah, there you are.” She said before turning back to what she was writing.

“You had some problems with the blood moon celebrations,” Delilah said after Alexia had not said anything for some time,

“Yes, it seems carnations keep ending up with the roses,” Alexia said causing Delilah to go from arrogant to confused.

“I don’t understand,” Delilah confessed.

Alexia opened her computer and began typing. She pulled up the video after pressing play she turned it around.

The video played and realization dawned on Delilah. Surprise then satisfaction crossed her face.

“I seem to have gotten lost.” She feigned ignorance but the delight in her eye gave her away.

“Where is the diamond?” Alexia asked getting straight to the point shutting the computer and setting it to the side.

“No longer being tainted by someone who does not deserve it.” There was venom in every word. Hatred that burned but at the core, it was always jealousy.

“I am queen. You’re not.” Alexia leaned back in her chair keeping a calm demeanor.

“Not for long.”Delilah declared. She almost sang the words.

There was something in the way she said it that told Alexia that this was not the ramblings of a scorned woman or her hopeless dreams.

“The crown is mine and nothing can change that.” She hoped it would irritate her and keep her talking.

“You sad little girl you have a lot to learn.” Talking down to Alexia seemed to give her pleasure. It didn’t matter to the queen. She needed to keep her talking.

“Not from you.” Alexia countered.

“While Caspian is out chasing Shadows. Draxton is coming here. He will take over and that little crown will be mine.” The devious smile graced her lips.

That name. Alexia knew this was serious. If Caspian was walking into a trap or worse they were sitting ducks it was about to get messy.

“Draxton? Is that your mate? Why did you so cling to Caspian like a lost puppy if you had a mate?” Alexia questioned.

“He will be and I will be queen.” She ground through her teeth.

“Why take the diamond? If it’s going to be yours anyway why go through the trouble?” Alexia poked holes in her statement. Keep her talking she thought to herself.

“Draxton needed it for his plan.” She brushed it off as unimportant.

“You still risked a great deal to get it,” Alexia said hoping she would divulge more information.

“It was easy I just had that useless so-called fared mate handle the cameras.” Delilah seemed to need Alexia to know what she had done to her.

“A guard. Your mate is a guard?” Alexia mocked her knowing it would provoke her.

It made her mad. Sending her right into Alexia’s hand. “I will mate Draxton and be queen when he takes over. He would have already taken it if he wasn’t looking for things that did not exist.”

“What doesn’t exist?” Alexia asked prying as much information as she could. She would need to give Caspian a full report. Every detail mattered.

“White wolves but now he’s over that and coming to take over.” With a dismissing wave, she moved on.

Dristan was right. Someone was hunting white wolves. Why? She did not know but they also wanted the throne. Two things she had. Two things she would protect with her last breath.

They had done such a good job keeping hidden growing up, why now? There hadn’t been a white wolf for generations before the twins.

“Your father will be displeased you commuted treason.” She needed to know if Delilah acted alone or if there father was apart of it.

“My father? He arranged it all. When it became apparent Caspian was not going to mate me he made a deal with Draxton.” Delilah looked at the Queen as if she were stupid.

There it was.

*Take Him. He is a part of it.* Alexia linked Edmund and Enzo.

They needed to move quickly. She was not worried about Delilah. She could handle her. She would subdue her and then take her to the dungeons. After This troublesome family was taken care of they would contact Caspian.

She had all the power as Queen without the king present. It was a drastic move arresting an alpha but she was about to do it to show she was not to be trifled with.

“You stole my diamond now you think you’re going to steal my crown. That’s not going to happen.” Alexia's tone shifted as she let her aura peek out. Her eyes darkened as her voice dropped.

“It will be. You’ll see.” Still defiant Delilah insisted.

“It’s very bold of you to say this so openly. I’m in awe of your bravery.” Alexia’s eyes narrowed on the female that stood before her.

Delilah laughed as if she found the whole situation amusing. “Guards won’t get there in time before I’m finished with you. I was going to wait to kill you but I guess I’ll have to do it now.”

Now it was Alexia’s turn to laugh. “Kill? Me?”

“You can’t even shift. Pathetic. The little crown you wear won’t be able to save you.” Delilah’s voice dropped as her lips curled in disgust.

No wonder Delilah had been so cocky. She believed the lie. The idiotic female did not realize how much danger she was really in. Alexia laughed again. And the harder. It was almost uncontrollable.

The queen's laughter enraged the female as she lunged across the desk.
