The males broke off into groups for their round of golf, staggering the start time between each one.

Natural Caspian was with Dristan and their betas. Servants caddied for them as they traversed the course.

The mood of the outing seemed somber as many were still recovering from the night before, Dristan included. Barely speaking, he kept his sunglasses on.

The king on the other hand seemed to be in better spirits, his demeanor pleased by Dristan’s overzealous indulgence of drink.

The betas were able to sit back and speak each seeming to be at the top of their game. The game of politics as they did not care about the game everyone else was playing.

Luca and Edmund had been paired with males their age that seemed bent on causing trouble. The testosterone spilled over in them causing them to be slightly more aggressive with only stronger males such as Luca and Edmund to keep them at bay.

From across the course, Caspian could see Alpha Lennon, Alpha Timzen, and Alpha Dennis in a group with Alpha Jacob.

Enzo had suggested putting Lennon with them, not caring one way or another Caspian agreed to the arrangement.

Gabe chatted along “I prefer bourbon but I’m open to other liqueurs.”

“I as well, but I do appreciate a good tequila.” Ruhn seemed as eager to compare different drinks. Dristan however looked annoyed with the topic of conversation.

“Gabe,” Caspian interjected.

However the beta did not hear him “Exactly, it depends on the setting sometimes tequila hits the spot.”

“Gabe.” His voice came in louder than before.

“Yes, Your Majesty?” Gabe stopped his talking to turn to the king.

“It’s your turn.”

“My apologies. Excuse me Ruhn while I take this shot.” Gabe stepped up to line up his shot. Caspian rolled his eyes.

The course took them around the palace grounds till they came into view of the parlor. With the doors to the patio opened, the females were able to see them easily.

More females emerged from inside to join those who had been sitting outside. They gawked as the males strode as many took the chance to show off their skills and others were not successful.

Seeing his mate looking beautiful, Caspian focused on his swing, sinking a hole in one. His chest swelled with pride as he saw her approving gaze. His pleasant thoughts were dashed by his companion's voice.

“I do hope the Queen was not disappointed by my absence this morning. I felt terrible unable to make it to our date.”

Not wanting to give Dristan any sort of satisfaction, Caspian casually replied “I do not think your absence was noticed.”

“Preposterous, I am sure she missed me greatly.” He exaggerated, clearly emboldened by whatever liquid filled his cup.

“I doubt that.” The king watched as the others played the game not as successful as him.

They carried on for several holes tile Caspian could not seem to help himself.

“Dristan.” His voice seemed to command attention.

“Yes?” The prince lowered the beverage he was bringing to his lips.

With narrowed eyes, Caspian looked him over “Why are you here?”

“What do you mean?” A tilt of the head shows the confusion of the prince. “I believe I am playing golf. Granted not the best as I usually do but your course is not as smooth as I am used to. Perhaps a talk with your groundskeeper is in order.”

It took all of his strength to keep from rolling his eyes at the prince “Why have you decided to visit my kingdom? Besides to annoy me.”

“Annoy you? You wound me.” He placed his hand on his heart in mock pain.

The arrogant prince seemed to turn serious with the change in the conversation. “I would be lying if I had not expected that question however I did not expect it so soon.”

“Then what’s the answer.” Caspian stepped up for his turn to not draw attention to their conversation as eyes were always watching.

Dristan looked around to see if anyone was listening then let out a sigh. “Officially I am here to further the peace between our kingdoms.”

“Unofficially?” He said as he swung his club.

“I hear you are experiencing a surge in rogue activity.” Each word was carefully said.

Gabe and Ruhn rambled on about topics that neither of them were actually listening to but used their voices to help muffle the sound of the royals in case anyone was eavesdropping.

“That’s true but what of it? Are you saying it is from your kingdom?” They moved on to the next hole.

Dristan laughed without humor. “Don’t be absurd. Just because we are not having a rogue problem does not mean we are behind yours.”

“Then what of it?” The king pressed nonchalantly.

“Just because we are not behind it does not mean I don’t know who or what is?”

“Speak plainly as I am growing tired of your rambling.” As they neared the end of the course, all conversation would stop once they rejoined the entire group.

Dristan muttered as they watched the betas take their shots“You won’t believe me. My father doesn’t.”

“Try me.” The king challenged.

Dristan looked at the sky then the trees “It's the signs that are driving the rogues to you.”

“What signs?”

“The change in the moon, can you not feel it in your bones?” Ruhn’s eyes darted to the prince in alarm as he spoke.

“Have you fallen and hit your head?” Caspian shook his head in disbelief.

Dristsn scowled at the reply “Fine then don’t believe me, I won’t bore you with the details.”

Curious, Caspian pressed “What does the change in the moon have to do with rogues?”

“They’re not just any rogues. Not even rogues at all. A secret society hunting for the moon power. They feel the moon's power being drawn and are hunting down the source.” Dristan’s voice was above a whisper.

“What is drawing the moon's power? How can they even tell?” The revelation left Caspian confused and feeling that Dristan had lost his mind. Gabe did his best to keep his features composed but Caspian could tell he echoed the sentiment.

Dristan waited as they neared their final hole. Those who went before them were waiting at the end of the green. Keeping his voice low so only those in their group could hear, he spoke.

“Only a white wolf can harness the power of the moon.”

Gabe’s eyes went wide with alert as he listened. Luckily, Caspian seemed more in control.

Caspian scoffed “Everyone knows white wolves are extinct.”

“We don’t know that for certain, just because you’re mated to a silver does not make you an expert.”

“My mate has nothing to do with this.” The edge in his voice was a warning.

While the royals argued the betas listened to every word while trying to continue the game. The scores tanked as they continued to miss shots while straining to hear.

“She’s from the line of the last one, how you had such luck mating. I’ll never understand.” There was an edge of jealousy in voice at Caspian’s good fortune.

Trying to downplay the situation “Well no one can understand the goddess.”

With the last stroke, their game was over. They stepped off the green where they would join the other males.

Dristan muttered as they finished their game “There’s a white wolf out there and I’m going to find it.”
