The White Wolf Chapter 102: Warning Shot

As the night went on, the angst that plagued the Queen seemed to disappear. With help from her mate and a little wine, she was able to enjoy her meal. After finishing his entree, Gabe retired to allow the royal couple to enjoy their dessert.

A warm brownie was served along with a scoop of ice cream. The smell that engulfed the room was of pure decadence. A genuine smile crossed her lips as the plate was placed in front of her.

The night soon came to an end as tomorrow would be upon them in no time. They would need to get as much rest as they could manage so they decided to turn into their chambers. With her arm wrapped around her mate's and her head leaning on his strong bicep, the pair walked through the halls of their palace.

Servants worked tirelessly with the preparations. The royal couple nodded to them as they passed by but continued on their journey.

Once they made it to their chambers, they quickly prepared for bed before their bodies intertwined together. Through their kisses and bodies coming together in a need that only each other could satisfy, they made love till falling asleep.

Before the sun rose the next morning to greet the inhabitants of the palace, its residents were already beginning to prepare their final preparations.

The walls hummed with the sounds of people moving about the palace.

Alexia awoke before the sun rose. Caspain having already showered finished dressing for the day. From her spot on the bed, she could see his outline in the closet.

Grogily, Alexia sat up rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Are you already leaving?"

Tieing his tie, he replied "I have some task to finish before the royal pain arrives. Go back to sleep, there's still time."

Stifling a yawn she waved him off, "There is too much to do."

Shrugging he straightened his tie before he crossed the room to her. "I have to go love." He leaned over the bed to plant a kiss on her cheek. "Have a wonderful day."

She gave him a small smile "Goodbye love."

Sighing she mustered her strength to rise. After a wash and styling, she was ready to go. Later she would return for a more in-depth preparation for the reception of the prince. Till then she did minimum work getting ready.

Her gown for the reception adorned a mannequin in the middle of the room, she held the fabric between her fingers as she admired the work. It was soft. She was surprised at how quickly they were able to prepare it.

It took an army of seamstresses hours to make her vision come to life. She prepared gifts for all of the craftsmen involved in its making. After the prince leaves, she would have Harley deliver the gifts to show her thanks. Knowing she could admire her gown for hours, she turned away to start her day.

With a casual pair of pants and a shirt, she put on comfortable shoes that would be more inclined to oversee the preparation work.

Retrieving her phone, she made her way to the door where she hoped she had beaten Harley up this morning. Every morning Harley waited for her to rise and start working. This morning she hoped her private secretary slept a little longer.

Opening the door, revealed an awaiting Harley.

"Good morning your majesty." She greeted with a bow before outstretching her arm and offering the queen a fresh coffee.

"At least you come bearing gifts." A Sigh."Good morning Harley, I hope slept well."

"Just enough." She chirped pulling her hand back after the Queen took the coffee she had presented to her.

Alexia studied her as she accepted the coffee. The circles under my eyes were slightly dark from the lack of sleep. Not wanting to argue l, she sighed and dropped the matter.

Stopping first at her study, she sat at her desk going over her checklist as breakfast arrived. A light breakfast with a shot of espresso, something quick.

The kitchen maid reported that all items had arrived that morning and the kitchen’s preparations were running smoothly. The queen thanked her for her report before dismissing her to return to her duties.

The morning consisted of checking seating charts and arrangements for the countless times. she inspected the prince’s room herself. Touching the fabric to make sure it was soft and comfortable. Once she sighed off room was shut till the prince’s arrival.

Enzo arrived under the guise of checking in on the queen but she suspected he was hiding from Gabe who was barking orders to anyone he came across. Caspian confirmed by texting her his annoyance with his beta and his strategy of ignoring him.

Harley was going over the chain of events that Gabe had sent over as they had a small lunch in the study. “When the prince arrives, he will be greeted by the queen-“

“No.” Alexia held up her hand to stop her. “I will not greet him. I will see him at the reception with Caspian later.”

“Here here.” Enzo agreed with her holding up his glass of water.

Harley was dumbfounded not knowing what to do. “But the list says…”

“I am queen. He is a prince.” Alexia clarified for here.

Harley’s mouth opened and closed before she said. “I will let Beta Gabe know.” She turned her head to look at Enzo.

Before she could speak, Enzo cut her off. “No.” He had already sought shelter in the queen's study and there was no way he was going back into the line of fire of Gave. Especially to tell Gabe he would be greeting the prince.

Harley left the room to report the update. After she left, Enzo turned to the Queen. “Good for you.”

“For what?” She looked up and quirked her head.

“Dishing it back to him.” She smiled knowing the prince would probably huff about not being greeted by the queen or king.

“That’s just a warning shot.” She said and went back to her work holding her head high.
