Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 42: Morning Meetings
It had only been a few hours, when their alarm rang.
It was still dark out as their sleep was interrupted by the irritating noise.
Caspian rolled over, turned of the alarm and stood up. When he stood up he stretched causing his bones to pop from years of pushing his body to the limits.
“Love, we need to get up.” He gently said to his mate.
Her only response was a muffled groan.
“We need to have a meeting to discuss what exactly we want to tell the alphas this morning.” He informed her before informing her. “I’ve asked you father and brother to join us as well.”
His voice of reason won out and Alexia dragged herself out of bed.
“I need a shower.” She stretched and made her to the bathroom.
Caspian came up behind her wrapping his arm around her naked body. “You smell like sex.” He said nuzzling his nose into the crock of her neck.
“Too tired.” She said with a sigh.
“I’ll behave.” He laughed and led them to the shower.
In no time, they were lathered and rinsed Stepping out of the shower they wrapped themselves in towels.
Alexia grimaced as she looked in the mirror. “I really should have taken my makeup off last night.” She announced and began an intensive skincare routine.
Caspian carefully shaved his face in another mirror as he said in between strokes. “You are beautiful.”
“Mhmm” Was all Alexia could muster while moisturizing her hydration depleted face.
Buttoning up his shirt Caspian said “I thought it would be best to eat breakfast in the office while we wait for the others to arrive.” Invoking a nod of agreement from his mate.
Soon the king and queen were dressed. Caspian dressed in a simple suit in grey and Alexia wore a simple dress with a cardigan and flats.
Walking through the castle, it was similar to walking through a ghost town. Most were still sleeping, leaving the halls to peaceful silence.
Entering the office, the smell of fresh coffee engulfed them. On a small cart was a fresh pot with assorted breakfast items and pastries.
Satisfied with a pastry and a small cup of coffee, Alexia made herself comfortable on the couch in the office. Scrolling in her phone she viewed posts from the night before as she sipped her coffee.
Likewise, Caspian read the report of the ball in the morning paper. He had opted for a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. Quietness fell over the room as the couple read and ate their breakfast.
Caspian was on his second cup of coffee when Gabe entered the room with Caspian not even bothering to spare him a glance.
Wordlessly, he went to the cart and poured himself a cup of coffee. Without moving he brought the cup to his lips and took a long drink before he grabbed a muffin. Taking a bite, he went and sat at one of the chairs in front of Caspian’s grand desk.
Gabe was almost done with his muffin when Alexia’s father and brother came in. Each retrieved a cup of coffee. Luca sat at the place next to his sister and Jacob decided to stand next to his daughter. He gave her pat on the shoulder as he reached her.
The door opened again to reveal Edmund. Following suit, he claimed a cup of coffee, gently blowing on it before taking a drink.
“Morning.” He said aloud to the group that had gathered already.
“Good morning.” Jacob’s voice answered for everyone else, his coffee was already having an effect on him.
After retrieving his coffee, Edmund made his way to the other chair in front of Caspian’s desk. Sitting down, Gabe and Caspian gave him nods of acknowledgment.
Enzo arrived not long after coffee in hand. His hair wet from a shower after he patrolled the area. His eyes were heavy from lack of sleep.
“Good Morning, mother.” Edmund said in a chippy voice to his mother as she walked in. “Don’t you look ravishing this morning.” He added cheekily and took another drink of his coffee.
While Edmund did not enjoy the mornings, he knew his mother despised them more so.
“Shhhh” She said not even sparing him a glance as made a beeline to the coffee. Her hair looked as if it had just been brushed and put into a bun, the product in it from the night before still lingering.
After pouring sugar and cream in her coffee, she walked towards the desk while stirring.
“Move.” She bluntly said to her youngest son
“What?” Edmund turned to her in surprise.
“Move.” She said with tired eyes looking at him in between sips of coffee.
Begrudgingly, Edmund rose muttering sarcastically. “So considerate, you are mother of the year.”
“I’ll be sure to thank you in my speech.” Judy said with a wave of her hand as she sat down in the seat her son had vacated.
“Now that everybody has arrived, I believe there are things we need to discuss.” Caspian said as he rose from his seat.
The group straightened as they listened to the king.
“As you all know, I went to investigate the recent rogue attacks.” He began to fill the others in.
Looking at each and everyone of them he said in a string voice. “These attacks are being coordinated and I fear there is a greater plan than simply raiding packs.”
Jacob spoke first, his firm voice filling the space. “Do you know who they are or what they want?”
Nodding Caspian picked up the piece of paper he had discovered and handed it to those sitting in front of him. The edges were burned but on the paper remained the markings of a seal.
“I found this on the ground while looking for clues.” He told them as they passed the piece of paper around to one another.
“What is it?” Edmund asked with a quirk of his eyebrow.
“That” Caspian said pointedly. “Is the seal of ancient society that only very few people know the name of anymore.”
“What society?” Judy asked through her tired gaze.
“They were known as the slayers.” Caspian answered her.
The sound of Jacob’s glass shattering on the floor rang throughout the room causing all but Caspian to jump.
“What’s wrong?” Alexia said with alarm in her voice.
“The slayers.” Jacob began. “Were said to be White Wolf hunters.”
