Werewolf
The White Wolf Chapter 133: Let Us Prepare
The morning came quickly and was greeted with protests from Alexia. With a long stretch of her toes, she snuggled deeper into Caspian’s warm body.
Every day seemed long and tedious. There would be no rest till Prince Dristan returned home.
A sigh escaped Caspian’s mouth as he pulled her in tight for one last embrace before releasing her and removing himself from their bed.
After Caspian rose from the bed, Alexia lay on her back staring at the ceiling. Nothing in particular caught her eye as she contemplated the day ahead.
The water sounded from the bathroom as Caspian began to get ready. His side of the bed began to grow cold as Alexia lay by herself.
The shutting off of the water signaled to the queen it was time to rise and greet the day. Her body was met with a chill in the air and her skin pricked at the cold. Feet against the floor she made her way to the bathroom where Caspian was wrapping a towel around his waist.
The water sprang to life once again at her behest, standing under it she let it awaken her muscles. It washed away the smell of their entanglement from her skin replaced with the smell of soap.
It was too early. Her body was not ready to wake up. She was used to intensive training but the politics of court life wore her down. The feeling of needing to sleep with one eye open was ever-present and exhausting.
Finally, she shut off the water and remerged clean. Wrapping herself in a towel, she watched Caspian finish his morning grooming before disappearing into the closet.
Sitting down at her vanity, she worked to make herself presentable. Moisturizers and serums were applied and was able to dry as she attended to her hair. She could have a team of beauticians attending to her but she enjoyed the quiet time between her and her mate in the mornings and others would hinder that.
Caspian came back dressed in a suit. “I will not be able to attend breakfast with you.” He picked up his cuff links.
“That’s fine, I’ll take it here by myself then.”
After he finished buttoning his cuff links he crossed the room to give her a quick kiss.
“Perhaps, we can meet for lunch.” He said hopefully but the likelihood of that happening was slim.
“If you can get away but do not stress yourself over me,” Alexia said as she pinned her hair into place. Caspian disappeared into their room.
Satisfied with her hair pinned up with curls framing her face, she moved into her makeup just as Caspian returned.
“I’ve ordered your breakfast to be delivered here. I must go now.” He said with a farewell kiss.
“Have a wonderful day.” She returned his kiss giving his bicep a parting squeeze.
At the sound of the door shutting, she knew he was gone. Only left with her thoughts, she set about finishing her makeup.
Opting for a mid-length burgundy dress with long sleeves, she plucked it from her closet before holding it in front of her as she stood in front of the mirror. Satisfied, she slipped it on and then sat on the ottoman in the closet to put on her pantyhose. As she stood she claimed a pair of black heels, slipping her feet into them.
Deciding it would do, she returned to the main room where she retrieved her phone. Finding a chair facing the windows that allowed her to look out on the view she sat and began to check her email.
Knowing Harley was waiting on the other side of the door she calmly said “Enter.”
The door handle turned and opened to reveal Harley flanked by a servant pushing a cart that held silver domes, teacups, and kettles. The servant brought the cart a few feet from the queen before removing the domes.
Once the domes were removed, he brought a plate of the queen's favored breakfast items to the table beside her. While he worked Harley made her coffee and presented it to the queen. Done with their tasks they bowed to the queen and received her thanks. The servant left the room at the queen's dismissal.
The coffee was hot, freshly brewed from the kitchen. She opted for a latte having been drinking them since the prince’s arrival. She sipped it while bubbling on her pastry and a little bit of egg.
“Let’s run through the schedule,” Alexia instructed Harley who quickly opened her pad and began to run through the series of events that day.
“In the afternoon Alpha Dennis’ daughter is to arrive so you should be able to greet her,” Harley told her.
“No.”
“Pardon me, Your Majesty, but what was that?” Harley asked confused.
“No. I will not greet her nor will any member of the royal family as I did not invite her.” Alexia said with an edge in her voice that had Harley taking a step back.
“Of c-course, your majesty, as you wish.” Harley stammered unnerved by the turn in the queen’s mood.
“Make sure her chambers are as far away from any royal member including Prince Dristan as possible,” Alexia instructed causing Harley to scramble and make note.
“I will speak to the head of housekeeping right away, Your Majesty,” Harley said.
“Then I will leave it in your hands,” Alexia said.
“Shall I pull some selections for tonight’s dinner?” Harley asked changing the subject.
Alexia gave her a nod that had her jumping into action. Into the closet, she disappeared and reappeared pushing a clothing rack with different gowns on it.
Every dinner had turned into a state dinner with the prince’s arrival. Harley presented the queen with various gowns but none seemed to catch her eye.
Finally, she opted for a velvet black gown with sleeves that hugged her body perfectly. Not too much but not too little, it was just right.
“Would you like to have tea with the Luna’s today?” Harley asked looking at the schedule.
“No let them fend for themselves, I do not wish to babysit them constantly. However, send word to Cynthia that I would like her company for tea.” Alexia waved her hand dismissively at the thought of hosting the lunas.
“Of course your majesty.” Harley scribbled quickly away.
If Enzo and Cynthia were mated it would be good for the court to know she was favored by the queen and was to be respected. If not, she could call it strengthening alliances.
After tea Alexia would meet with the members of the Blood Moon planning committee. She was the head of the committee and in charge being the queen but a group of individuals had been assembled to hammer out the details.
The members were not known to her as there were too many committees for her to appoint every member but advisors to the crown had nominated various members.
The meeting would serve as an introduction and allow her to see the progress they have made and make sure it aligns with her vision.
She made a note to Harley for her arrival to be after the others as she wanted everyone ready to go when she arrived.
“Also can we put together a gift for Abi?” Alexia asked Harley. Her sister-in-law kept a low profile and she worried she may become lonely or feel forgotten.
“Of course, your majesty. I have some cards on your desk needing your signature and I will add one to it.” Harley told her.
There was always some charity or pack she was either sending her condolences or congratulations to. Instead of writing them herself, Harley did her best to prepare them to where they only needed a real signature.
Alexia nodded knowing Harley probably had a list of things Abi enjoyed and would see to it.
They finished going over the tasks and goals for the day as the sun began to shine bright.
Alexia finished her breakfast in peace for what few minutes she had left looking out the window.
Setting her cup down she stood looking out the window one last time and saying mostly to herself. “Let us prepare for battle.”
