The White Wolf Chapter 27: All Hands on Deck

She found her mother wringing her hands in the office standing over the desk.

"Which color? which color?" Shelia said alound to herself. "Red could be scandoulous... too seductive... Black could come off as a funeral and Lord knows no one died... Purple" She said. "Purple" she repeated nodding her head in confirmation. "Purple will showcase her regality"

"Who's regality?" Alexia asked from the doorway of the office.

At the sound of her voice Shelia jumped bringing her hand to her chest and gasping. "Geez child you scared me, you almost gave your mother a heartattack."

Alexia let out a snort. Her mother may have seemed like an airhead to some but in fact she was deadly, calculating and always a step ahead of everyone else. "You did not answer my question" Alexia said evenly with a slight smile on her face.

"Yours of course. This ball will set the tone of your's and Caspian's reign. No detail is too small. Your first impression must be impressive. People will see you first so you must look regal." Shelia said to her daughter looking at her seriously. She continued on "There is always someone wanting to challenge Caspian, so you must be on guard and prepare in everyway possible."

The severiety of everything hit Alexia causing her to let out a breath. A breath that felt like an elphant had sat on her chest. Seeing the look on her face shelia made her way over to her daughter and grasped her hands into hers.

"This will be challenging but you are strong and can handle it. Plus us, your family, will always support you in everyway we can." Shelia ran a hand through her daughters hair before giving her a lovingly squeeze.

"Thank you" She said looking down before taking a deep breath and raising her eyes to meet her mothers "I came to tell you we are getting ready to leave."

"Yes, Yes there is lots to do" Shelia said in her mother hen way. "I will speak with Caspian's mother, she is a smart woman and will be a good guide for you."

Leading her out to the cars, her mother wrapped her arm around her shoulders giving her a squeeze.

Caspian had already made his way to his the cars and was standing in front of them talking with her father, sensing her approach he looked up at her at the tops of the steps and smiled. He gave her father a firm handshake before approaching her and her mother.

"Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes" She said simply and giving him a small smile.

"Then we shall take our leave, Shelia, a pleasure as always." He said turning to her mother. He reached up and gave Shelia a small kiss on the cheek

before offering his arm to his mate. Alexia wrapped her arm around his and allowed him to lead her toward the waiting vehicles.

Rain began to trickle down from the sky on the drive back to the palace. Each drop racing down the window pane of the car.

Aleixa's phone buzzed on the seat next to her. The group chat constantly flowing. This last drive was her calm before the storm she thought watching the rain fall. The squad could wait, she needed this moment to gather herself. Sensing her unease, Caspian reached over and gave her hand a squeeze without looking up from the files he was studying. She was thankful for his small gesture, reminding her that they would be in this together.

She started remembering the times their bodies had become one. The temperature inside the vehicle seemed to heat up. Sensing her arousal, caspian shifted his weight.

"Careful my love or I will have to have you here in this car." He said in a voice that caressed her entire body.

She blushed at his words but she could not find it in herself to be embarressed however she would be mortified for the driver to witness the two of them joining. Thinking of someone being witness to them making love she straightened herself trying to compose herself.

Her phone continued to buzz causing her to roll her eyes.

"You know I could think of ways to put that vibration to use" Caspian spoke again giving his mate a smirk. Laughing Alexia looked at her phone, shattering her bits of peace. She loved her friends but sometimes they were a bit much.

"I have to go away on business this week." Caspian said after the silence had grown between them.

The thought of being seperated from her mate starled Alexia causing her to straighten in her seat. Her eyebrows drew together as she asked "Where are you going?"

"I just want to observe the kingdom, nothing to be concerened with" He responded but seeing the worry that still loomed in her eyes he clarified "If there is something I find to be concerened with in my observations, I will tell you when I return."

His voice was a warm caress to her body, easing her nerves. "Enzo will be guarding you extra carefully while I am away." Caspian spoke causing Alexia to roll her eyes but that was a battle for another day.

The palace came into view, after sending a quick text in the group chat to let the others know their arrival, she put her phone away. The car came to a stop in front of the steps. Caspian immediately got out and came to open her door. She emerged with the help of his arm. Enzo was not far behind immediately taking his place a few steps behind her.

After making their way into the palace, Caspian turned kissed her cheek then informed her he had tasked to attend to before his depature.Alexia stood there in the entrance taking in the grandour before turning to Enzo. "Now what?" She asked him.

He gave her a shrug before saying "My job is to protect you, so pleasekeep life threatening activities to a minimum."

At that moment she saw her group coming towards her.

Thomas and Christopher gave her exagerated bows in their approach with wide knowing grins plastered on their faces. However when they went to rise Chritopher tripped over his own foot causing both him and Thomas to fall flat on their faces.

Hazel smacked her mate's arm before adding "Serves you right."

"Yeah, your curtsey was completly wrong. 2/10. I expect better next time gentleman." Alexia clicked her tongue mockingly before giving her friends a side smile.

Straightening their clothes the boys rose to their feet. Responding in an equal manner Thomas said "My apologies your majesty, please forgive me."

Enzo raised an eyebrow since he did not know what to make of the group. He had heard of them but never seen them interact with one another.

"Anyway" Tabatha huffed. "What now?"

Luca finally spoke "It's all hands on deck."
