The White Wolf Chapter 170: The Plan

Anger burned through her veins as her fists clenched. It all made sense. Delilah. The video showed the thorn in Alexia’s side walking in and then out of her chambers minutes later.

The other night after dinner when Delilah had brought up the diamond she had been taunting the queen.

Alexia had brushed off the comment with aloofness but she had kept pressing. Initially, Alexia had thought it was jealousy that caused her to do it but no. She had the diamond.

The female had invaded her chambers to pluck it from her and then mocked it for it without her even knowing it. The other females in the room had shifted uncomfortably at Delilah’s urging of the queen to wear the diamond.

The urging her to wear the diamond for the blood moon celebration was just setting her up to look foolish. After being asked to wear it so publicly whispers would be spread as to why the queen did not wear it.

“The gift that keeps on giving,” Enzo mumbled bringing Alexia back to the present.

“Are we really surprised?” Edmund said crossing his arms and giving the group a doubtful look.

“No, I don’t think we can be.” Enzo agreed.

No one knew how the diamond disappeared. It was comforting now that they had an inclining but grating as to how.

Ideally, for Alexia, was that in the aftermath of the attack, it had been returned to the wrong place and would turn up once things had cooled down.

“We need to determine whether or not this was preplanned or if she just capitalized on the situation,” Edmund spoke as his eyes studied the video.

There was a possibility that after the attack happened, the female so the opportunity to steal the diamond out of jealousy while the palace was in chaos. The crime of theft would be less severe than treason.

On the other hand, if it were deliberate and she knew the attack was coming. Death would be the punishment.

“Should we call Caspian?” Alexia asked not knowing what to do. They would have to make a move against an alpha. It could cause political discourse if not war.

She bit her lip in worry twirling her pen. Since he had left she hadn’t even talked to him. Praying to the goddess she hoped she made the right decision.

“We’re not sure the motive yet. Let’s get more information before we hasten him back.” Edmund uncrossed his arms as he tried to calm everyone down. Caspian had barely been gone a day. They would need to handle this.

“She did it. What more do you need?” Enzo pressed his disdain for the female showing. Alexia approved.

She never felt closer to the gamma than over their mutual dislike of Delilah. Friends had shared interests. Best friends had shared hate.

“We need to know why before we make our next move,” Edmund argued. He was not a fan of hers but he knew better than to make any rash decisions.

“Is Alpha Dennis still in the palace?” Alexia asked. He would try to weasel Delilah out of it. Spin the truth to gain sympathy among the alphas.

“He’s scheduled to leave late this morning,” Enzo reported. He sighed at the little time they had.

“We need to interrogate them separately before they leave.” Edmund chimed in.

They could call Judy but they did not have the time. They needed to move quickly.

“Our approach must be careful to not spook them.” Enzo cautioned feeling as if they were walking a tightrope.

“I’ll have Harley send for Delilah on the grounds of a blood moon celebration or another.” It could work. The female undoubtedly liked to gloat. She could lure her to the queen's study away from her father.

“If they suspect anything amiss they may take off. Enzo and I will intercept Dennis feigning some reason or another.” Edmund said.

Enzo did not like the idea “I should be with the queen.” It was his duty to protect the queen. The king would prefer he stay by her side and let Endmund handle Dennis on his own.

“No, it will raise suspicion. Do you not think I can take her?” Alexia asked offended. She could handle herself against most alphas a lone female was no match.

“That’s not what I’m saying.” Enzo sighed rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I will position guards nearby.”

“No.” Edmund cut in. “We don’t know who the leak is. We have to keep this between us.” They were each getting frustrated. There was not enough time for detailed planning. They would have to work with what she

“No matter what she’s going to be arrested.” Enzo looked for the bright side. His dislike of her ran deep. He feared when they were adolescents therapists would mate Delilah. Luckily for him that did not happen.

It struck him as odd though that she hadn’t yet mated. Most wolves her age had already found their mates. Without a mate, she would die alone. A thought that Enzo found fitting.

She left a rain of terror wherever she went but always changed her tune when Capsin was around plus with her father's resources she was almost untouchable. Almost.

“What are the chances Dennis knows nothing?” Alexia asked trying to think of different outcomes.

“Slim. More likely he had an idea or did it and even more likely he will sacrifice her to save his skin.” Edmund shrugged.

“Anything he says will be a lie,” Enzo stated.

“Separate them and arrest them. Once they’re in a cell we can interrogate them.” Edmund decided. It was the only to get to the bottom. At the very least they had them on suspicion. It would have to hold up to the other alphas.

“What about his entourage?”

“I’ll have the guards call away his guards to discuss routes,” Enzo said thinking of a diversion. If they tried to arrest the alpha his warriors would jump in to defend him risking his life.

“We need to get moving before it’s too late,” Alexia said picking up her phone and giving her orders to Harley. The assistant was clueless as to what transpired. The perfect person to lie to their target as they believed what they were saying.

Harley seemed very confused as she repeated everything back to Queen. Once she was certain this was what the Queen wanted. She completed her task.

“Let's go,” Edmund said motioning for Enzo to follow him out the door.

There was no going back. Alexia did not know what to expect but she knew one thing. After today, Delilah would never step foot in the palace again.
