The White Wolf Chapter 50: Lunch with the Girls

“Well Girls, I am so happy we decided to do this!” Shelia said in a sing song voice to her daughters and daughter in law.

Alexia, Morgan, Shelia, and Abigail all sat around a table on a balcony that overlooked the palace grounds. Plates of various dishes lay before them.

The sun was shinning even though there was a chill in the air. A cool breeze had Morgan wrapping a blanket around her shoulders.

“Thank you for including me.” Abigail said in a small voice. Alexia had sent a message at breakfast asking her to join them. She eagerly sent back a yes.

Alexia who had just taken a bite out of her lunch, waved her hand in front of her face. After she finished chewing, she said “We are happy to have you here with us.”

Shelia nodded in agreement with a smile gracing her lips.

Morgan clutched her warm tea between her hands but offered a smile before taking a sip.

“We want to get to know you better Abigail.” Shelia said to her in her motherly way, beaming at her new daughter across the table.

When Morgan and Alexia had told her their idea, her heart sank at the realization that she had been too preoccupied with Alexia to get to know Abigail.

“Please, call me Abi.”

“Abi, it is then. Tell us about yourself, where are you from?”

“Well, my pack is a small pack. I mean my former pack. Shadow pack. I am the oldest with two younger sisters. Sarah and Hannah.” She began telling her mother in law.

“What’s something you enjoy doing?” Alexia asked her as her sister in law struggled to think of things to say about herself.

“I enjoy painting. I’m not very good and mostly stick to using acrylic paints as they are forgiving but I appreciate watercolors.” The words have little insight into her life but we’re a start.

Alexia surveyed her. She had a lean body that did not contain much muscle mass. Her brown hair resting on her shoulders. A sweater and leggings adorned her body. Wether Abi knew it or not, the women before her would assess her. See if she would sink or swim. If she struggled they would reach out a hand but they needed too see what she was made of first.

“Perhaps we can take a stroll through the palace’s gallery.” Alexia offered.

“That would be wonderful!” The joy showing in Abi’s voice and face. However, her timid nature quickly returned as she looked down in embarrassment.

Shelia, Alexia, and Morgan all had strong personalities and were honest in their opinions. To a degree. Abi on the other hand, seemed to be quiet and unsure of herself.

“I want to know more about you and Luca. How are you getting on?” Shelia asked.

The rosy cheeks blooming on her face and her wide eyed had Morgan coming to her aide.

“The G rated parts. I have no plans of going to therapy.” Morgan said stabbing a piece of food on her plate before plopping it into her mouth.

A chorus of laughs sounded from the group. Abi’s shoulders visibly relaxing with the conversing.

“He is wonderful. Kind and caring and so patient with me.” Love sounded in her voice. “I miss him terribly.” Her eyes dropped slowly. “He is so careful not to wake me in the morning before he leaves for training. It just warms my heart thinking about him tiptoeing around.”

“And that you are both happy, warms mine.” Shelia said to her.

“Have you heard from him?” Morgan asked looking at Abi.

“No” A sad reply.

“Not have I” Alexia offered.

“Well, why don’t we plan some outings then? Shopping anyone?” Shelia said to the girls.

Morgan perked up in genuine interest. “And a spa day!” She added

“Of course!” Shelia said in matches excitement. Morgan’s love of shopping a trait definitely inherited from her mother.

“Abi, where do you like to shop?” Morgan said remembering why they were there.

“ I don’t really shop a lot…”

“Well, that is something to be remedied at once!” Shelia’s can do attitude rubbing off on the others.

Alexia’s thoughts drifted to her own mate as her eyes lingered on the case of flowers that adorned the center of the table. A rose in full bloom amongst them.

“What have we here.” The queen mother breezed through the door in a way only she could. “All of these beautiful ladies.” She said coming to stand behind Alexia’s chair placing her hand on her shoulder with a smile. Alexia glanced up her mother in law, offering a smile.

“We’re just getting to know my new daughter.” Shelia informed her gesturing to Abi.

“How do you do? I am Judy.” Judy extended her hand to Luca’s mate.

“I’m a Abi.” She said meekly taking her hand in return with a slight bow.

“Where are you from?” Judy said with the tilt of her head before leaning down to pluck a cookie from the table.

“Shadow Pack.” Abi replied in a small voice at a natural fear of the queen mother. Good instincts, Alexia thought.

“Shadow Pack? Is your mother Demetria?” Judy asked with the purse of her lips.

“Yes! She is!” Shock and joy danced across her face.

“How is she doing? I have not seen her for many years.

“She is well, thank you for asking. I will be sure to tell her you asked about her. She could not attend the ball as she was not feeling well.” Abi almost came out of her seat in excitement.

“Oh such a shame, another time perhaps. Judy said before adding “Demetria is from the Eastern Kingdom.” To Shelia’s confused face.

“Oh! How interesting! Does she ever visit?” Shelia immediately became interested having never been to the eastern kingdom.

“No, unfortunately.” A slight pause with a sigh. “Her parents have passed but she still has a brother that lives there.”

The words had the other ladies offering their sympathies to the she wolf.

“Oh, I didn’t know she had family there. Before my mate passed we would visit occasionally. What is her brothers name?”Intrigue in her voice Judy asked.

“Draxton.”
