The pups somehow slept next to the lawn chair Bryson sat at, though now it had gotten late. I wanted them to wake up and see their papa light the bonfire, but of course, I don’t think they would care.

They snored softly while I sat next to my brother. He too was tired, completely spent from being an Alpha, coming all the way here, and having to be around so many new wolves from so many packs. Honestly, I was spent to, though I was from planning this. It was like three big festivals in one. The Lunar Fest, birthday, and celebration on Bryson being whole again were all there in the form of rides, and communion with the Lady. I felt bad that there weren’t things like this for the Lord of Night… but I could understand why. Up until this point he was mercilessly cruel…

“I’m still hungry.” Complained Mini, who had a turkey leg bone on her paper plate.

“You can have mine.” Said Caleb, who’d already given his food the moment she huffed.

“No, it’s ok, you don’t have to stand in line another time!” She hugged his neck, but he was firm.

“Mini, it is fine. I’m not that hungry.” He said confidently, though his stomach growled as if on que. I got up.

“I’m Luna… I know it’s a little cheeky, but I’ll see if Warrior Tim has any unsold food.” I said, taking one last look at my pups… I would only be 30 feet away, but I would still worry.

“I’ll watch them Izzy.” Said dad, which really did make me feel better.

Wolves parted way for me, and I made my way to the back of the meat grilling station really easily. It was all open since it was outside, though there were at least 10 booths for meat, some for funnel cakes, you name it. It would’ve made me hungry if not for the fact that I was already full.

“Ah Luna… you just missed Alpha and King Jerold.” Said Warrior Tim, grilling chicken wings.

“I’ll leave them to have fun, plus I was wondering do you have anything that hasn’t sold yet?” I asked.

“Aye, Yale! Any Orders on the ribs yet?!” He screamed at the front of the stand, and there was a loud ‘no’ from Warrior Yale. He then made a heaping plate of ribs, slaw, and a small container of barbeque sauce in case I wanted some.

“Thank you!” I yelled while they waved me a goodbye.

When I came back, Mini was completely content, resting her head on Caleb’s shoulder. I handed him his new plate, because I saw the other plate in the makeshift garbage can.

“I think she may be pregnant.” He said quietly, and dad perked up.

He sniffed the air. “She doesn’t smell like it.”

“She smells like hound to me… no citrus.” Said mom.

“She’s not a wolf…. so I am not sure.” He said with a small frown.

“But if she is, will the other she wolves get pregnant too since Lilly pupped last year?” I asked, still upset with that. I didn’t know why I felt like this… maybe it was my wolf… but I would have punished her harsher than they did for it. She growled in my head. It was the worst purposeful thing a she wolf could do… and the others followed.

“Sis I can practically tell Glitter’s frothing at the mouth. It is fine. No one needs to be born with our pup.” He said sternly, but I held my growl.

I put my hand to my forehead. Glitter wanted to take over so I would let her. “That she still breathes, that any of them who complied with her live in the packhouse, is a disrespect to Mini. She Is Luna. Their wolves showed loyalty to Another she wolf. Someone you did Not declare Luna holds this mantle in the eyes of their wolves.” She grumbled, though Caleb sighed.

“I was chastised by Sparkle too. I don’t think it is right to punish a second time.” He said quietly, though Glitter growled. So did mom.

“My blood will not be outdone by a former Luna in my son’s house.” Sparkle snarled. Mom’s wolf was practically the size of a teenager… but that didn’t mean she wasn’t fierce.

“Lady… I am too late to fix this now. Those pups are over a year old, and punishment was already done. It would make me a snake to go back on my rulings, and banish them from the packhouse.” He said looking at his mate.

“Then don’t do anything about it, but our wolves don’t care. You know how it is.” I mumbled, and she held onto him in her sleep.

“Only 5 she wolves pupped with Lilly last year, there are still at least 20 families in and around the packhouse Izzy. Also… more pups or not, I know she will be protected.” He stroked her hair, but he didn’t get it. He was a man, an Alpha no less. One born a prince. It showed.

Caleb never had his authority questioned, and it showed. “Then I won’t argue about it, it isn’t my place.” I said leaving well enough alone.

Isabelle are you ok? Linked Bryson, and I internally sighed. I didn’t want to upset him.

I’m fine, we think Mini is pregnant. I linked, and he was quiet a while.

Then why do I feel frustration? Is something wrong?

She’s not a wolf, so we can’t be sure… and also, I can’t be sure what the females will do. I linked.

If they value their lives, they will do nothing. He snarled in the link. This kind of thing, he wouldn’t care about… but I could only guess it was because he saw my family as his.

“You guys are too dramatic. The fire’s ready.” yelled Uncle Connor, holding Auntie Nancy’s hand. They were with Uncle Eric and Aunt Shelly. I carried my pups in their basket meeting up with my mate. His face was stoic, but it softened when he saw me. His red rubies reflected the light as if they were gemstones, and I held his hand. I think we both had been blessed, and the pack’s giddy mood showed us that they felt the same.

Many wolves thought it proper to shift, carrying their belongings in their mouths to be under the full moon, and feel our bond with the lady. She was the one who made us, and gave us two forms, but as everyone howled or danced in the night on their way to the fire… I wondered something.

We all gave thanks to Only the Lady… but what of the Lord? She could only shine because of his darkness in the first place… He resurrected me, my mate, and gave our pups blessings…. PineMoon and BeastMoon were incredibly fertile; the flora and fauna grew a visible percentage faster than in other territories, as his mark was permanently scorched into the ground there.

He never asked for anything in return… Not even a thank you, but he was using his energy to do all that. He was a god though… maybe he didn’t need anything? I left well enough alone… it wasn’t my place to question traditions made thousands of years ago. We’d gotten to the meeting place, and I was honestly impressed by everyone’s efforts.

The fire was by far the largest I think they’d ever made it. They had used logs from when they cut down the rotted fallen trees that would have been too close. With the amount of wolves and machinery we had at our disposal it didn’t take long, but it was still extraordinary. The fire sat in a clearing all its own, jutting to the sky at least a story tall.
