The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 57
Isabelle
“My daughter where are you?” Said a man. I felt groggy, in a haze.
“Huh?” I responded. I looked around to see that I was in some kind of dark, on fire forest. Though the wildlife behaved as if it were normal… strange.
I saw the man. He had to had been nine feet tall. He had horns exactly like Bryson, and there was a shorter man next to him, and I knew something was wrong.
“I’m right here in front of you.” I told the man, and he was instantly in my face, kneeled to my eye level. His blazing eyes ate into my soul, and I couldn’t help but to submit. I kneeled on hands and knees, but he picked me up from under my armpits.
“Now little girl I will ask you again.” He put me down, but put his hand on my belly. I tried to squirm away, but he only needed one hand to stop me from going anywhere. He leaned into my face, and growled a little, but it terrified my soul itself. “Where are you? This is important.” He patted my head, but I felt no comfort. Whoever he was, was to old and powerful to be trusted. He held no scent that my mind could comprehend.
I woke up to the sound of thunder, and an unnatural watched feeling, to see that it was my mate with void eyes staring at him, slowly steaming. The room smelled of raw power and rage, so I sat up. He is very angry this morning. Whined Glitter, but I ignored her. I rolled off the bed, and cautiously put my hands on his cheeks. There was the smell of blood off him, and I wondered where it was coming from until I saw what was in his hands.
“I caught this for you.” He said flatly, and I gently took the already skinned rabbit out his hands. “I thought you would like fresh, because you tire of beef.”
“Thank you Ven. May I ask why you are so upset?” He only growled softly in response, hugging me gently.
“I love you little mate. Father wishes to give the pups his blessing, though I do not want that for them. This world does not need more wolves like me….” Ven hugged me tighter, and I hugged him back. “Everyone is after you. Other Alphas, the council, and now even the gods.” He snorted, looking out the window.
“Come on, let’s go downstairs.” I reassured him, but he wouldn’t let go of me.
“No. You have everything you need here.” He growled softly, and I growled at him back.
“No, I need air Ven. I can’t stay in here like this.” I told him firmly, but then he growled loudly, submitting me and my wolf.
“We will not discuss this. I need this little mate.” He sighed heavily. “I need you. I cannot lose you.” He said smelling my mark. “I know you hide your pain. I smell it…”
“Ven don’t do this to me…I Am safe… I really am.” I told him, resting my head on his shoulder.
We sat there a long time. He felt like there was no compromise, and I had no choice but to allow it. He was so much stronger than me it was unreal. I could feel it. I had seen it…. I could only wait.
“You promise you will be ok?” He asked quietly, and I nodded. He let out a small sigh, and slowly released me. He let his void eyes become red, and Bryson cracked his neck.
I hugged him as hard as I could, and he picked me up, so that we could go downstairs and into the pack’s living room. He sat me on the couch and I saw Orek hobble to me as if he had been injured.
“My Lady what happened?” I asked him about to get up, but he stopped me.
“No, my Luna, stay where you are. This old man is simply aging. I am younger than some of the Kings, yet I look as if I was here from the beginning. Part of the weight of knowing too much…. And being known by too many.” He said with a cough.
“Are you dying or something?” I asked concerned. One of the Warriors handed me some tea, and I sipped it, looking at how tired everyone was. The next full moon was on the 13th, only two weeks away. I might have them…. and that dream worried me.
“No, just old. It happens.” He tried to reassure me, but I could tell he wasn’t his usual cheerful self.
It seemed everyone wasn’t. The mood in the house was a little bit sullen to say the least. It didn’t help that it was so dark out with the heavy rain. Bryson went with dad while Uncle Jerold sat on the couch with me.
I had had it already. I might have been a princess, but I was not a prisoner. I got up, getting Bryson’s keys. I would do something damnit. I didn’t know what but with the car I could at least give the excuse that I needed to drive back with it. No warrior in their right mind would mess with my mate’s car. At least not without his permission.
“Are you going to get coffee?” Chirped Uncle Noah.
“Neither of you are going anywhere, the pack’s on lockdown.” Grunted Jerold. He seemed more agitated than usual. I heard a whip crack. His tail slapped the carpet on the floor.
“Don’t scare the girl, it’s bad for the baby. We need baby clothes.” Noah complained, and Jerold stared at us a long time. His eyes were reddish brown, but they had a glow to them.
“I’ll drive.” He said, taking the keys from me and getting his own. I didn’t complain, I just didn’t want to become a damn captive of my own family. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had debated on locking me up in a cell to make sure I was ‘safe’. Shit he had heard that.
“Don’t worry I was on your side last night.” Chuckled Jerold. I was raised around them, playing with them and hearing bedtime stories…. it’s easy to forget that he is a king.
He put me in the back seat, and Noah sat next to him. They held hands and quietly pulled into the little shopping district area. It was still raining, but water wouldn’t bother me. I had lived in the wilds for months. If I had never gone out there, I would have never found Bryson.
Noah was the first to get out, and he squealed at the top of his lungs, looking at a purple onesie. I didn’t know if any of my pups would be girls, but if not, I knew Warrior McGarrison’s mate just had one. I knew him from school, it was nice to see others had had pups my age too. It wasn’t unusual for couples to wait a century or two before pups, but it didn’t matter to me.
I looked at a blue set, with little rams on the tummies and I got those. My mate would love this. Bryson didn’t always show it, but he loved this kind of thing. He wanted to let me name them because he was afraid he would give bad names; but I bet he would pick well.
I hope they are the strongest pups I could make. I want them to be fearless leaders.
“Isabelle, is that You?” Screamed Jackie, an old school friend of mine.
“Yup, and that’s Luna to you.” I said with a smile. She was a warrior by the uniform she wore. It suited her. She looked nice. She was leaner than I remembered, but with more weight. It also seemed that her hair was silver now. Well, more silver. It was kind of two toned when we were pups, but now her greenish gray eyes were the only thing that stayed the same.
“I should have known. Who’s the lucky male?” She clapped her hands excitedly and her partner came in the store.
“Luna Isabelle?! I Bet it’s Alpha Greg’s son, he always had the hots for you!” He Joked, elbowing me. He was in my brother’s old class, Warrior Arnold. He was a tan wolfed male who could rip a deer in half with one bite, though that isn’t impressive anymore. “Oh, Good morning King Jerold and King Noah.” He said with a bow. They had been coming here for nearly 20 years, everyone knew them on both sides of the pack.
“Bryson is my mate.” I said holding the little clothes in my hands a little tighter. I was worried about what they would think.
“Bryson who?” Asked Jackie. Then her eyes flashed yellow. “My Lady, the Beast?! I Need to know Details. Now! Why didn’t you call me?!” She screamed excitedly, getting looks from other wolves that were shopping, trying to mind their own business, but I know they wanted to hear too.
“Uh there really isn’t anything to tell. We met in the woods near BlackMoon, and now he’s alpha of pretty much the state of Missourie.” There was silence.
“He’s the King of the Forest.” Said Warrior McGarrison. He was a fairy tale that was passed around campfires to scare bad pups from running alone in the woods.
“There are at least 5 or 6 big packs the size of CharredMoon out there….” Said a random wolf.
“Who would have thought…. the pipsqueak of Alpha’s kids would find a mate as strong as he is.” She said shaking her head with a smile.
“Yeah, no kidding.” I said putting my things on the counter.
… Bryson is stronger than dad by allot, it’s just locked away. I didn’t know if I should have said anything, because it didn’t matter if he couldn’t use it, but that it was there meant it had to be addressed eventually. Bryson smelled like Jerold, not like dad. That was also why grandpa pardoned my mate… it wasn’t just for my happiness. He knew before I did. I felt that this morning. I could feel the monster he could be, yet wasn’t. Only a small amount of his powers were unlocked… and they were waking up because I was in danger.
My Lady I pray I can have these pups in peace.
