The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 61
Isabelle
My eyes opened, but I didn’t remember a thing that happened, neither did Glitter. I was also my wolf… but why?! I shot my head up, looking around to see my pups were actual pups… not just figuratively. Holy shit.
“Morning.” Said my mate, putting his forehead against mine. It was something only the closest bonded warriors would do. It was something I never expected from Bryson. It meant he saw me as an equal…. He had given me respect for anyone to see if they were around.
What happened? I linked him.
“You died…. And I traded the pups for you.” He told me and my jaw dropped. I looked at them, and noticed they had little horn knubs on their heads, and their little eyes and ears were closed. I sniffed them, but there was no scent of evil or anything on them….
Bryson, what the fuck! I growled, and he stroked my neck. It sent tingles down my body, and it soothed the pain I was feeling.
“Calm down…. He only wanted to give them his blessing. He wanted nothing. He saved you, and delivered the pups.”
I relaxed a little, and I shifted, feeling sore all over. They had some seriously sharp little claws, but they were still sleeping after I shifted. “Did you name them?’ I asked, picking one up in my arms.
“No, I wanted you to have that honor.” He said with a small smile. He kissed me gently, like I was made of glass. I rested my head on his shoulder, and picked them up in my arms. I had given birth to two boys and one really small girl.
“The biggest pup will be Tyson.” I said, thinking for the second. I had only one name picked, because for the longest time, I thought I was only having one. “The smaller boy is Kaizen, and Grace… after your mother.” I said quietly. I looked to see that he held a gentle smile. For once in a long time, the sternness was off his face, and he looked younger.
“Those are good names. I love you wildflower….” He said with a soft growl, running his fingers through my hair. I hummed at the pain relieving tingles. These pups had sharp little claws, and horns… they were killing me because I should have listened to my wolf.
I stayed in the hospital for the rest of the day, but leaving out any visitors. I didn’t want any, not even my parents. My instincts were at 100, and I would probably fight someone if they got too close. My mate stood at the door like a soldier, inspecting any nurse that came in with the hardest gaze, and I felt weak. I was feeding them by shifting, letting my wolf take over, and it took allot of energy I didn’t have. I needed meat. The food they gave me wasn’t good enough, but I didn’t want to worry my mate. That was until his stern gaze fell on me.
“You look tired Isabelle. Rest, I’ll go get fresh.” He said, and my dad came in the room. I growled at him.
“Izzy chill, I am here only to protect…. now let me hold ‘um.” He teased and I growled louder. He chuckled, putting his hands up in defense, and leaned on the threshold of the door. Glitter growled at him in my head. She didn’t want anyone near them, especially since there were meetings on should they even exist.
“Do you mind if I hold one?” Asked mom. I wouldn’t growl at her. She wasn’t a threat and had nothing to do with the fears of old men and politics. I wasn’t mad at dad… I just felt that way because of my wolf. Mom walked slowly to me, and I put my biggest pup in her arms. He wiggled to no end, though to what I didn’t know.
“That one is Tyson.” I told her, handing her the other two. “Kaizen and Grace.”
“They look like the King.” She said, and admittedly, they did. They smelled Charred, and that made me swell with pride. They were all no bigger than a pound each, but they would probably get huge.
“Aren’t they adorable.” I chirped and mom hugged them gently.
“I can’t wait until they can walk! I am going to spoil them so hard.” She squealed, and they sounded hungry. I got them back from her, and shifted, feeling sore, but I heard a bunch of yelling, followed by the snarl of my mate.
“Alpha Bryson, this is unsanitary, she should not be eating this.” Said a nurse with concern.
“She’s withering away in there, and none of you can see that the food you’re giving her isn’t enough.” He growled. Dad moved, and Bryson had about half of a very small deer, already skinned over his shoulder. He was naked, and it looked like he had eaten the other half by himself. He put it on a small table, and carted it to me. Without a word he went into the shower, and I realized that that was Ven. I wonder what had pissed him off enough to get control. It doesn’t take much.
-----Bryson-----
“Alpha Greg came over, demanding that our pack pay toll road fees to move stone from the quarry to the interstate… also they have been harassing the Omegas on their delivery runs...” Said Beta Zackary on the phone. “Oh, and congratulations Sir.” He said submissively, and I growled.
“Tell that prick we will not give him a fucking dime.” I growled, hanging up. It was almost as if the prick knew that I was busy with other affairs. I knew why he did this. If we didn’t pay, he could have an excuse to attack my supply trucks. It didn’t do anything for him other than the satisfaction of giving me grief.
I put my things in on the reception desk after I stripped, so I could come back for it. I couldn’t tell my mate any of this, she would worry. I would just have to kill the fucker later, but before my mate came home. The last thing I needed was to have some assassin waiting. He said that He wouldn’t try anything, he said nothing of his pack. He said nothing of the Rouges that he could pay to do it for him, if they had enough mind to sneak in.
I caught a small white tail deer, probably a yearling, and ate half of it, and the awful. I saved her the liver though, that had allot of iron that she needed back into her system. I also smelled human on the wind, however I knew no one was dumb enough to climb a fence. Kaiden installed a fence nearly two decades ago to prevent this, though I could investigate… I still had room.
However, my time was short. I didn’t know if my mate was hungry because she was feeding the pups or weak from the birthing. I felt on edge, ready to kill or be killed at any moment. I got to the hospital, to see that she allowed her mother into her room, and I needed a shower. I worried her because I said nothing, but at the same time, I had nothing to say. At least nothing that wouldn’t worry her. I hopped in, and started first with my hair. It reached my lower back now, and I shaved the sides with my thumb The hot water felt nice on tense muscles, but I kept it quick so I could change.
When I got out, she had finished her meal, and shared what she couldn’t finish with her mother. She seemed reluctant to eat raw, which was strange, but I didn’t question it. She was a small wolf, so my assumption was that she was raised on human food alone. She put my pups in my arms without warning, and I held them to my heart. They were so small. I was scared I would hurt them, since my claws never fully retract, but they were unphased.
“I suppose I’m supposed to tell them something?” I asked. I had never had a childhood… I am going to be a shit father.
“Well…. Their ears aren’t even open…. So no, you don’t have to say anything Bryson. Just be happy. Enjoy this with me….” Said my mate weakly. She tried to sound perky, but she was only lying to herself. All of this was my fault…
“May I give them a blessing?” Asked the Unicorn Queen. I nodded. Help or not, she was the purest creature of light alive. She could hopefully soothe the worries of the others.
“I would rather you not, but I assume you will insist.” I mentioned casually. She nodded with a soft smile, but Isabelle glared at her. She worried for their safety, and I did as well…. If she harmed them, I would slit her throat.
“I pray to the Light above, that these children receive your blessing.” She said and her hands glowed a light golden white. My pups squeaked softly in her arms, but soon her hands glowed a deep red. “I don’t know what this is… this had never happened before.” She said handing them to me, and stepping away as if she were afraid.
“They are blessed by Zuviel; he will not allow the Lord of Light to bless what he has already claimed.” Said the Wolf King casually, and Queen Sky put her hand on his mouth.
“You will bring calamity on your house!” She whispered, as if uttering his name would collapse the building.
“He was already here. Can you not feel it?” He said flatly walking past her. He reached for her to pass them to him, and he held them gently. He spoke a language I could not understand, and kissed each one on the top of the head.
“What did you tell them grandpa?” Asked Isabelle.
“I gave them the blessing of my father’s tongue. The Lady is with them…. and my prayers were answered. They are like me. I will no longer be alone.” He said quietly, growling softly.
“Grandfather I never knew you felt that way.” Said Connor. He had slipped into the room to see my pups, and I was losing my patience. I didn’t like all these wolves and royals in the birthing room with my newborns.
“I am the only wolf who wears flesh….” He nearly whispered. He handed my pups to the queen, and her eyes became black. It alerted me, as she didn’t have red eyes…
“Oh, they are precious.” Said her wolf, she snuggled them tightly, and my mate growled a complaint. She worried that she was being too rough, but she was ignored. The Queen gently handed them to me, and I rubbed my chin on them. I didn’t like that they smelled like everyone else. The king laughed lightly.
My mate smelled agitated, which made me agitated. “Alright everyone enough’s enough. Give my mate some space.” I handed the pups to her, and she whined lightly. Our instincts were in overdrive, and slowly they said their goodbyes, respectfully leaving.
“Bryson, I want to go home.” She told me weakly, getting out bottles for her new breast pump a nurse delivered.
“Not until you heal a little longer.” I told her. I looked out the window, knowing that I should tell her what was happening, but I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.
