The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 88
Bryson
The castle was golden with black accents all over. The cells were well lit, though compared to electricity, torch light wasn’t bright enough. I was led to a large meeting room of sorts with each king or queen of their people atop thrones. I saw them all sitting at a high table, designed so they could literally look down on me. They looked as royal as I could scent, though I wasn’t crushed by their presence. I felt a small sense of pride in that, though I had already offended some that I wasn’t kneeling, begging for my life.
“Alpha Bryson Charred, the Beast of BeastMoon, The BloodBorne One, I hoped I would not see you here.” Said the Wolf King sitting in the center, though there were murmurs.
“I thought you killed the threat. Now he is awakened Ashital.” Said what looked like a vampire.
“He wasn’t a threat; he’s also mated to Ash’s grandchild.” Said Jerrold.
“It would break the law to kill an innocent. I sense only his desire for his family, not destruction.” Said the Unicorn Queen.
“Have you made a pact with the Dark One?” Asked the Vampire King. His eyes were red, and as quietly as he spoke, I could tell it was only because he wanted to rip out my throat.
“I have made no deals with my father, but for my mate’s sake…. I would.” I said loudly, though Jerold and the Wolf King groaned.
“I motion we imprison him.” Said the Elf King, though the shortest king disagreed.
“Think of the possibilities. Hey kid.” Said a green man. He was the most adorned of them all, dressed in a fitted suit, and his hair was slicked back with grease. It must have been a toupee? I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Kid let’s make a deal. You got a family, right? You love ‘em, right? Fight for us instead of being a champion, and we can keep ya girly safe hmm? Let’s shake on it.” He said interlacing his ringed fingers.
“As nice as that sounds, I must decline. My father has promised peace, and none of you can revive me.” I said with a small frown.
“I motion that he be bound and muzzled.” Said someone who had beautiful butterfly wings, though I could tell her personality was shit.
“You would create another Xaxas Diana, if not awaken him for the sake of his brother.” Said the Wolf king, who was right.
“Then let’s release him. He hasn’t done anything…. You haven’t, have you?” Said the Unicorn Queen.
“No ma’am. I don’t want anything to do with a world ending war or destruction. I asked my father to revive me this one time for my mate’s sake… and my small pups. They said their first word yesterday.” I told her, and she smiled.
“What do you intend on teaching them?’ Asked the Vampire King, and I damn near rolled my eyes.
“The fuck do you think? They are not up for discussion. I had become agitated, and he growled at me. I growled back, though it had no bite.
“You overstep Victor.” Growled the Wolf King, who had been silent up until now.
“He’s right, you know. His children are just born.” Said Jerold, who glared at him, but he glared back.
“You all are too emotionally invested. He stands there, baring the visage of mortality, but he is more. Have you forgotten the crimes of his family?” He slammed his hand on the desk, and Jerold snorted.
“But he is Not his family, nor can he answer for crimes he has not committed. That’s the whole point of why I brought him in myself. I cannot find any reason to keep him.” He crossed his arms, flexing them a bit. He was displaying dominance, but they all argued.
“I motion we make a deal with the kid. He’s too young to fight in the war, but he might be useful.” Said the Goblin King.
“You only wish to use him as a pawn.” Hissed Queen Sky, but King Hadeon grinned.
“I second Aeschylus, if we tamper with fate, he will become the worst version of himself.” Said the Elf King, but they became quiet when there were clacks of what sounded like heavy shoes.
“Father above, I can smell the stench of this monster’s aura from here…Why did you think to hide this… abomination from the Holy Seat?” Asked a man wearing a priest’s robe. He looked fit for a human, though as muscular as he was, his hair was gray from age. He had many scars on his face, with one eye white from some kind of damage. His gaze could cut stone, and he looked at me with hatred.
“And the Church was notified two days after I received knowledge of his horns. He was never hidden mortal.” Growled the Wolf King, but the priest scoffed.
“And we have hunted the world without any help from you. We were even Audited about two decades ago for Ten years for defending ourselves.” He sneered at them all, walking to me. He stopped just short of being able to touch me, looking at my horns.
“That was unrelated. We have already made a ruling, as he has committed no crimes. Your presence is not needed here, as it is One vote.” Growled Queen Sky, and for a moment, he legitimately looked afraid.
“This Does concern us, Pure One. My people know the least…. And Our ‘Presence’ Will Always be ever-present, Speaker. We have tried keeping things your way, now, I will do things My way.” He growled, though he was human. It intimidated no one, but his words were deadly daggers. The Church was something that I insured I never got involved with. I wouldn’t even take a life if I saw sacred texts or pendants. It was almost like instinct…. Maybe it was?
“I want no trouble.” I told him looking down at this little man, who could restart a war I didn’t want to be involved in…. one that guaranteed that I would have to beseech my father for a life I didn’t want, I feared for my pups…. I felt strange standing next to him. Like I should kill him and leave….
“May I authenticate your lineage, Dark One?” He asked politely motioning for me to bend down, and I obliged. He held them both a long time, closing his eyes, but I could smell fear from him.
“I won’t hurt you.” I told him quietly, and he looked me in the eyes confused.
“These are no horns of a hybrid… I have felt this energy before in Missura… Jentuky… Iawee… I have looked for you nearly my entire life, my uncle before that, my grandfather before…. For ten generations…. And I hold your horns because I asked…. Light be with me…” he mumbled.
“I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t ask to be born an outcast. I cannot control what I am, only what I do.” I told him, and he let me go.
“Why do I believe you?” He asked confused. “This must be one of His tricks.”
“No, I speak the truth. My only wish is to go home and be with my mate. The promised non-disturbance of that is why I came here in peace. It is why I will also leave in peace.” I warned him. He chuckled.
“There is no lie in his words…. None that I could detect. Come with me to Italy, perhaps the Holy Seat may-” I cut him off.
“He can kiss my ass if he thinks I’m dumb enough to go to another country surrounded by those who wish to burn me at the stake and kill my babies.” I crossed my arms, growling as I did so, but it sounded demonic. It made everyone in the court uneasy. The smell of fear became thick, and many of the servants, save a few, attempted to make themselves scarce.
“I knew it.” He sneered, and I flicked him on the forehead. I made sure there was no weight to it, so he was still standing.
“You know nothing. You touch my horns, convince yourself that I’m a threat so that you won’t feel bad for the knife in your boot, meant for me. For Pups who can’t even walk properly yet. I will come back by the way. There also is no war, because the one you fear So much, told me himself that he has done Nothing to this world because of Me.” I snarled, and my eyes created their own light. Without Ven, it would happen on its own…. But I stood there with my arms crossed glaring at him.
He made the Sign of the Sun, praying to his god, taking a few steps away. He pulled out his blade, but it glowed like the sun. It legitimately blinded me for a second. On instinct I pushed my hand forward. I could hear his steps, and he fell on his ass dropping his blade. It slid across the marble floors, making a ting when it hit a wall.
“You will stay back demon!” He yelled, but no one seemed keen on coming to his aide.
“I haven’t moved small mortal. Tiny, weak minded human who comes here, demanding to be heard, yet you only spew the regurgitated shit you slurped like a suckling pig on his mother’s teat without any mind to see what is in front of you. Who is in front of you, not just the stereotype. If I was a demon, I would have not tried first to be agreeable, but now I’m not so sure.” I roared. It was the first time I had lost my temper, and it was hard not to continue…. I wanted so badly to just rip his heart out and eat it, I was beginning to wonder why I hadn’t.
“Why do you not help me?! Surely you see he needs to be put down!” He yelled, as his blade had been picked up by an Omega. He looked at the servant with fear, but they shyly walked to the center of the table, and gave it to the Wolf King.
“Send the entire meeting’s avalible footage to the Holy Seat.” He said casually, and a reddish-brown haired Omega bowed before leaving.
Queen Sky cleared her throat. “You who walk the path of light. You were the one who transgressed. Horned One’s son or Not, you drew a blade on an unarmed man for words-”
“I was defending myself!” He screamed cutting her off, but she slammed her hand on the table.
“You were attacking him. He remains in place, with composure only maintained for his family’s sake. If his blood would have spilled, I could only assume we would have to deal with his brother. An actual God encased in flesh. Possibly worse, The God of Punishment, a Full God who has laid waste to this earth before. Do you really think you do the Light’s work agitating something like that?” She shined brightly, and I felt calmer.
“I believe Alpha Bryson has shown he is more than his nature. I don’t care what the rest of you vote, I’m taking him home before the Church causes the war to restart.” Growled Jeorld, who commanded the female warrior to take the cuffs off me, and she reluctantly did so.
