Isabelle

I woke up and the moon was out, but the pups weren’t in my bed! I looked frantically around the room, cursing myself that I slept so hard. I blinked and they were there asleep… What the fuck.

“Isabelle, are you ok?” Asked Bryson and I nearly jumped out my skin. His red eyes were pretty much glowing in the moonlight, and I saw his horns were out. They looked sharper somehow.

“I’m fine… just a weird dream that the pups were gone.” I said rubbing my neck, and he kissed me on the forehead.

“I was holding them wildflower. You were half asleep.” He said with a smile in his voice. I huffed. My wolf wanted to bite him for the trick he pulled, but it wasn’t his fault. He got into bed with me, and gently held me while the pups were between us. We didn’t want them in a crib, because they seemed to look for us when we did. Also, they screamed bloody murder.

I couldn’t sleep, I swear I saw another red eyed horned man in the room with us, but it could have been a jacket on the chair. I didn’t have anything I could throw at it, so I waved instead.

He waved back.

A chill went down my spine. “Horned One?” I whispered questioningly.

“Don’t mind me, I’m just taking one last look at my family before the seals to my prison are reinforced…” He said as if he were sad, but I didn’t understand. I was wide awake now.

“Was that you who took my babies then?” I asked, looking at them for only a second, and when I looked up, he was at the edge of the bed. Glitter freaked out, but we needed to think clearly, so I held onto her to calm her.

“I fed them so you could rest. Know that all in this room have my blessing. Stomp on the ground three times, and call my true name.” He said flatly, vanishing into thin air.

I looked at them gently sleep, still as stones. They had no fear, and they held no instincts for it, being born alpha wolves. I would have to be careful… I slept so hard they were taken out my arms… but I was so tired. They needed care about every 4 hours, and I had help, but realistically it’s only so much my family could do. Then there was the fact of raising them too…. They wouldn’t be this defenseless forever. Soon they will be adults, and I worried about that too. I didn’t want my male pups to grow to compete with each other… and my female pup would most likely be just as aggressive… I know Glitter is. We had enough packs… We could make them Alphas so they have their own lands, but if they hated each other, I don’t think I could forgive myself for not forging their littermate bond.

My mate practically snored with his mouth open, and I figured if the dark god didn’t mean any harm, but I still didn’t like it. I held a firm grip on my babies though… just in case. I was tired but alert, not wanting to sleep. I had to make sure that nothing else happened.

“Get out.” Growled my mate, which woke me up, but thankfully the pups didn’t.

“I thought we were friends!” Whisper-yelled Noah with a false pout, who had a small child with him. The toddler smelled like a wolf.

“Get out. If you wake my pups, you’re going to regret it.” He grumbled. I could feel him sitting up, so he was probably glaring at him.

“I don’t doubt you would, but I just wanted to let you know I made breakfast. Come and eat, trust me you both look like you need it.” He chuckled, and the little boy held his hand, following him.

He got out of bed and held my hand for a moment, then picked up each pup one by one. Tyson was jelly in my mate’s hands until he seemed to come to life with tiny uncoordinated wiggles. They all got cleaned up with a towel and fed, and I carried them with Bryson downstairs after an hour or so. He held the boys while I had Grace.

They really did outdo themselves, there was all the food that I had dreamed of eating, but couldn’t, all on the table while everyone who could fit in the packhouse living room was there.

“Isabelle.” Said the one person that I had wanted Bryson to meet since he met my family.

“Heidi!” I screamed, running to her with my pup cradled in my arms, and she hugged me. “Bryson this is my big sister. She’s a witch!” I exclaimed, and he looked at her suspiciously.

“So it seems.” He said coldly, walking to her and looking her in the eyes. He shook her wrist, and she let me go. He sensed her magical ability, and didn’t trust it, but seeing everyone else so relaxed made him drop his shoulders a bit.

“I don’t mean any harm.” She said shyly, and he nodded his head.

“Please keep it that way. The pups have my instincts to protect them and my mate very high.” He said sternly, and I saw her mate walking over with a plate for her.

“I’m John, the Earthen One.” Said John, shaking Bryson’s wrists and he relaxed a bit more.

“I’m Bryson, the Beast.” He stated, but John didn’t show the surprise I thought he would. They must have told him already… I kind of liked seeing people so shocked.

My mate shook his head; he’d heard me, and I smiled. Jerold came over to us, holding what smelled like man meat, and handed it to Bryson. “Would you like some? And put the pups on the blanket over there; we can watch them together.” He offered.

“Wait… where did you get that?” I asked and he looked dad’s direction.

“Would you believe me if I told you this one jumped the fence this morning?” He said with a small smile.

Bryson thought a while, scratching the slight stubble on his chin. “Come little mate, you need the break.” He said sternly and I didn’t argue. I did. As small as they were, they were each a handful.

We sat on the couch, and I was handed a plate of raw steak with a side of bacon, eggs, toast, milk, and cheese. The raw was to keep my strength up, the rest was for me to enjoy. My pups happily chattered being pet by supervised pups. No one wanted them to get hurt, and also, no one wanted to upset Bryson. Probably me too, but honestly… he had a bit of a reputation here. Well… everywhere. Everyone knew he was Alpha of an entire state, and possibly the next one over if he killed Ryan and two other Alphas. I didn’t follow their casual conversation with my mate, this had me distracted.

“I heard you completely eviscerated Greg in front of his mate.” said John, who sat next to us.

“He was a threat.” Said Bryson flatly.

“You What?” I asked surprised, but his stern face remained.

“He killed the Forest Guardian Elion, and Beta Franklin. He died for his actions.” He said casually. For him killing was as easy as talking about the weather, and that unsettled me, if only for a second.

“He did What? Why didn’t you tell me?” I demanded, and it kind of drew attention to us.

“You were sick. I didn’t want you to worry. I have things arranged for Franklin’s family, as well as two new Betas to split the load for Pine and WaterMoon.” He said putting his hand on my back, and I sighed a little.

“Did you send his hide to Ryan?” I asked.

“Yes, along with a warning.” He said seriously.

“Good. I don’t think he’ll listen though. He’s a coward. They tend to do shit when they think you aren’t looking.” I said quietly and he nodded.

-----Bryson-------

I was surprised that she wasn’t mad at me that I went off to get into a fight. I assume it was because she knew I would win…. I had already defeated most at the table already, so it was only a matter of tying loose ends now that I was an official Alpha. They were after my happiness… and I was after their throats.

I soon smelled the scent of the King, and his mate, as they wanted to see the pups as well. The Queen picked up Kaizen, and gave him kisses, before picking up Tyson, then Grace. She held all three at the same time, all the while her eyes were black as mine. It was strange to say the least, seeing another wolf born under the red moon, however that her eyes were silver meant she was born either before or after.

“I wish I could take them home.” Said her wolf, but the King shook his head. He motioned for her to give them to him, but she refused.

“Falcon you will put them down, that I may hold them.” He complained. I didn’t expect that. She glared at him a while before she handed them to him, and he put them on the floor to play with the others. She huffed, sitting on the couch with us. I turned on the Tv, and the other pups went wild, because one of their favorite kid’s shows had just started…. I was going to put it on something else, but it was the weekend, let them have some fun. I didn’t honestly care about human technology.

“Get used to it Izzy, I remember watching My Tiniest Horsey with you until you were 10.” Said her father and there were chuckles.

“Oh my Lady Stop.” She looked down in pure embarrassment while I raised an eyebrow. I wondered did I find out the root of her obsession.

“Is that why you like unicorns so much?” I asked with a small smile. “I thought it was because of the Queen…”
