The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 133
Bryson
I was led to a courtyard that had steaming food of every kind. From savory to sweet, it seemed a grand feast was prepared, and off to the side of it was a round table that held three thrones, and one very nice chair for Asanguis. Servants placed a few dishes on the table that we were to sit at, as this apparently was a feast with many courses…
“Brother!” Said Xaxas, giving me a firm pat. “I thought you’d never stop wondering the countryside. Now you get to taste food meant for your stature.” He laughed.
“I would have offered you a ride young master, but father forbade it.” He said with a bowed head.
“I wanted him to see how good the innocent mortals have it now with his own eyes. I don’t like punishing them… because it isn’t really ‘punishing’ if they haven’t Done anything. Their screams aren’t as fun either.” He mumbled, sitting between me and Xaxas.
He served father first, cutting roasted meat and putting a generous slab on his plate. “Thank you my oldest.” He said cutting into it. “Soon we will feast in the realm of the living, and I will enact my plan.” He said with a small smile.
“What plan?” we all asked and he shook his head, putting his fingers to his lips.
“Patience. I’ve waited thousands of years for this plan, and if I say anything, it will likely spoil it. You’ll not remember this night, but I have it all figured out.” He smiled.
“You’re going to wipe this conversation from our minds again.” Said Xaxas with folded arms.
“Naturally. I’m too close.” He said with a smile. “And on happier news, Lulliba has enough energy to give your mate her blessings.” He said happily, and Xaxas looked as excited as a pup during Fall Fest.
“Did you see her?!” He asked and he nodded his head.
“I delivered her myself.” He smiled.
“How does she look? Is she happy? What does she like? Does she need anything? Do her parents spoil her?” He asked quickly, but he shook his head.
“She’s but a babe. I figure if I spoil the surprise, your mother will change her appearance.” He chuckled.
“Your no fun. I can’t wait to meet her! I hope she’s not some brainwashed zealot… I didn’t ask for a concubine or a priestess you know.” he grumbled.
“She is raised with her people, free of your influence.” I said and he smiled wide.
“I should probably start acclimating to the new world then.” He said getting up, but the Horned One waved his hand, and he sat back down with his magic.
“Wake in two and a half more decades and not a day sooner. If you wake now, you’ll only want to go see the babe and scare her people into creating the very thing you want least.” He said firmly.
“Of course father.” He grumbled. “At least give me one hint.
“no.” he said simply.
“Gods damnit.”
“You’re sitting in Hell; whatever it is you don’t like literally cannot get any more damned.” He snickered.
I woke with a light gasp to see it was just before daybreak and my mate was sleeping despite how the room stunk of matches. I believe that was the sulfur of Hell, but I could be wrong. Either way, I’d heard my Warriors changing shifts with the 6am to 6pm shift regimen, with a few 8 hour shifts sprinkled in. It was so that at all times there were fresh Warriors watching, and ready. It also added a little unpredictability to their routes since the pack was so big.
“I know what I saw Will.” Said Warrior Harlem. He’d switched patrols to be with his eldest son, though I don’t think he was arguing with him.
“I’m not saying ya didn’t see a ‘giant black flying snake’ fly into Alpha’s room, but if You want to go wake him up after he went to sleep about TWO AM Monday, and it’s SIX AM Wednesday now, be my guest.” Said Warrior Kat. “Hell I wake him up fooling around as it is.” She grumbled.
A black flying snake? That sounded familiar, but I couldn’t quite figure out How.
“Morning.” I said coming down the stairs, yawning as I did so.
“Alpha you can go back to sleep; sorry we woke you sir.” He bowed.
“No I was already up. What did the snake look like?” I asked, they both looked at each other.
“Sir it looked… see through, but it was black as night, and held the wings and head of a dragon.” He said with a bow.
I felt my slightly tender shoulder. I was wearing a t-shirt so they wouldn’t see, but I could feel the tattoo on my left arm. I decided on the spot that I may as well tell them now. I had no idea what all this meant, but I believed them. Either the Horned One or Xaxas summoned something, and there was no reason to lie about it.
“You saw right, but to my understanding there’s nothing to worry about.” I said going into the fridge to get my steak for the pups and me to share. Isabelle loved human food more than me, so she could have the spaghetti and meatballs she made last night.
I smelled precooked steak, and it didn’t take long for me to find all the leftovers she’d made for me, but it was barbeque flavored steak in a tubber ware container next to another labeled for me. There was 1 steak flavored like teriyaki, and I figured she originally made more, but she fed them to the pups. I grabbed that instead and sat on the couch, while my Warriors argued amongst themselves on who would tell me this weeks news.
“Alpha, I know you enjoy your meal, but I must inform you that the rouge we intercepted is a Lycan.” Said Warrior Kat.
“Has anyone spoken to him?” I asked and she nodded.
“Luna, but he kind has an attitude.” She admitted.
“My pups come first. Pass me some meat, and I’ll get them us at 7.” I commanded, and she came back with my thick cut of boar I was saving for Saturday, but I could get some more.
I took a knife and cut it into smaller portions for my little ones, and went upstairs, putting it in our minifridge. I also left a sticky note on it before I left, so she wouldn’t have to go down to get them fed in case I took a moment. I could hear them snoring in their room, and for it I left well enough alone.
I’d taken their bed frame out so that the bed was on the floor with the box spring. They didn’t need normal beds yet, but they still like sleeping together. When they get their own human forms I will have their rooms separated, and the bed corrected, but for now they were fine.
I took a shower and changed clothes too, because I smelled like concentrated wolf. How she still slept next to me in that state was beyond me, but I was glad to wake up with her in my arms. I braided my hair and left shirtless. It’d been a long time since the Warriors had trouble with another wolf.
But then I scented why as I pulled in. It smelled like Lycan. It was then that I got out, wanting to see this impossibility. In all my life I’d only ever seen one Lycan in my lifetime in the wild, and he was practically mindless. I was surprised that they’d managed to get one in a cell; he likely let them.
I was linked his story from Warrior Bennigan, and it made sense. I’m sure Jang did what he did not only for fear of his knowledge… but also because I could tell he was as strong as a male on the Council, definitely stronger than Jang.
I walked in, and he bowed his head, but it was stiff. It was as if he didn’t want to kneel, but I snarled. “Careful Lycan.”
He bowed lower. “Forgive my proud nature. I am Oskeen, son of Orekkeen, though I didn’t learn any secrets. Please consider hearing my story Old One…..” He said putting a bloody bandaged hand to himself.
I raised a brow. “I already know your story.” I said getting the key to the cell off my keychain and opening the door. “You oath in blood to serve, and that’s good enough for me. Break it and you will lose more than your life.” I growled.
He looked me in the eyes and looked legitimately submissive. “Only a Fool would deny such power Lord Bryson. My son is unable to speak… and he cannot link being an Omega Lycan…. But look at his bloodied hand’ he gave oath as well.”
“That will not fly with me.” I said sternly. “Cut your hand boy.” I commanded and he did. “Do you oath that you and your father are no threat, and will join the pack, and be part of the pack?” I asked, and he nodded, holding up his hand for all to see along with his father.
“I’m putting you in my northernmost pack; I expect you to do border patrol.” I said leaving out the prison, allowing them to follow me so I could get paperwork on them. With them here in my pack, Jang won’t touch them. I’d also have an ally to the north instead of driving for hours across the state.
I didn’t doubt his loyalty either, because I could feel it. I knew his words were honest.
I also knew Jang was probably plotting now. It seemed even after the death of his leader, that he had no common sense.
