The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 36
Isabelle
“Luna no!” Screamed Beta, who was snarled at by many in the pack. He may have been trying to console me, but as Luna, the only one who could really stop me was Bryson.
“Restrain Zack… I know you mean well, but I Have to do this. Not to prove myself, but to honestly protect the pack. I could smell I was stronger than that asswhole. So long as he fights fair, I should win no problem.” I told him and shifted into my wolf. I shook my fur and howled dominance as deeply as I could. It almost made me cough.
Everyone showed their necks in respect, but I heard his responding snarl in the distance. He was already here… I got this, I thought to myself.
I ran with 15 warriors, while the rest were trying to evacuate everyone. Those that followed me ran behind me in tight formation, and I was allowed to cross into the border, because a challenge was initiated.
He trotted around the clearing like a damn idiot, so full of himself, with his warriors on the other side. He had 10 or so of them at a glance, and I didn’t care.
Little girl, do you see your folly yet. He said raising his head above mine. He was bigger…. Bigger than Zack, but that didn’t stop me from raising mine. He had been hiding his strength this entire time.
Fuck you. You only wish to pick on the weak and hide behind the doors of your packhouse, then come out like a rat to steal food. Mangy dog. I sneered in a common link that got growls from my enemies, and snickers from my men.
Attack. He snarled, and we were outnumbered, but my men were stronger, as they pushed themselves because of my mate. They clashed mighty blows of gnashing teeth, while I charged to get to Chris.
The impact was nothing I ever felt before. I had never fought a wolf so strong…. All the others up until this point were small or average wolves. This was an Alpha in his prime. We reared, and I got him on the side of the neck, but he clawed my side forcing me to let go.
Rusty fool. I linked, hissing at the painful claw marks on my ribs. I would need stitches, but I rushed again, feeling the blows of him showing me no mercy, but I was getting him too. I got him one good time on the arm and shook, ripping the skin and meat off his lower right arm, but he clamped on the back of my neck and shook. I felt like a ragdoll. He tossed me to the side like I was nothing…. And I could no longer hold my form.
“Who’s rusty now, little girl?” He sneered, picking me up by my hair after he shifted. He kicked me, and I felt the crunch of my already exposed ribs. I coughed blood. And he laughed. “Let me give you something to remember me by.” His claws extended, and it was the last thing I saw before I blacked out.
-----Bryson------
With the injured healed, and the last of those controlled by Grahkes killed, we finally returned home. My arm was mostly healed, but I could tell it still needed tending, as I didn’t stop to rest. It was making it heal so slowly because I kept putting weight on it, but it didn’t matter. It would heal eventually. I needed to help the pack and get to my mate as fast as possible, even with the help of the King, it was like hunting for rats.
“I think that’s the last one Alpha.” Said a warrior whose name was Garry. He had done everything in his power for me to remember him in a good way, and I commended him for his efforts. We were almost home, all we needed to do was run about 1 more hour.
One more and I would hold my mate, and fuck her until she screamed my name. I missed that. I had gone years at a time without finding a willing female… but it was noting like one’s true mate. She was perfect, and made just for me. Ven growled softly in my head as we ran, and I heard the other men common linking similar sentiments…. Including King Ashital.
War makes a man hungry, but not for meat. He commented with a smile in his voice. I couldn’t help but chuckle.
I smelled fear on the wind.
I was from the pack, and I ran as fast as my injuries would allow. I saw pack members meet us from the trees, and I was glad that I had new men and that they were somewhat rested, to defend the women. I only lost 5, but came back with nearly 100 new. I thanked the Lady, and looked for my mate.
Where is Isabelle?! I linked to everyone, and I got a flood of responses that were hard to figure out.
I saw my Beta had been beaten to an inch of his life, as he was tied up. He was faking dead, and I knew then that everything had went to shit.
I shifted and clawed his ropes. “What happened?” I asked.
“Alpha, Luna ordered me bound to confront Chris. He attacked the pack when he found out you were gone. I tried to keep her safe… If she is dead, kill me. I have failed you sir.” He said passing out. This wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t anyone’s. She was defending the pack… because if she didn’t he would do whatever he had done to her anyway… maybe worse. If they surrendered, he might have defiled her publicly because she would have disrespected him. I know my mate, she probably called him a lichen licker or something. She has a strange way of insulting you that gets under the fur farther than just swearing……
I snarled and ran across the border, not engaging in any fights that were initiated with me. They were trying to keep me from my mate… and I began to smell her blood. The air was thick with it.
She was laid out unconscious, and I looked for Chris. He was looking down on her, taunting her to get up. She wheezed, and my wolf took over before I could react to what I had seen.
Chris heard my snarl, and bolted running, but I was right behind. COWARD. I roared, and it got the attention of every wolf there. The King would not interfere…. Though I was glad… I wanted to rip him apart myself. His place was to maintain the law… .and we had to fight for the right of his audience.
You need not challenge me, your pack has already lost, Rouge. He sneered. Attack! He linked and the wolves were about to run to me, but I boomed a snarl loud enough to stop them all.
You forget the law. I roared. She is half of my soul…. If you challenge Her…. You have challenged Me. I snarled, lunging at him.
Attack! What are you doing! He linked but no one moved. The king watched with red eyes, occasionally looking at his grandchild, but he would not move beyond the beginning of the clearing.
We gnashed teeth and claw, and though I still had unhealed injuries, I grappled him to the ground. Ven ripped out his throat, and shook until his head was nearly off his shoulders. Ven ripped him into pieces in our rage, and it made his warriors submit. He howled dominance, but we could not savor it. My mate was dying.
I shifted picking her up, and cradled her like a small child…. She was so broken, and he had clawed her face. He did it to mar her beauty, but I would love her always. “You promised….” I whispered in her ears. I know she couldn’t hear me, but I chastised her anyway. “You promised me you would try…. Please my little wilted flower, do not die on me.” I growled softly…
“Alpha…. We could take her to the hospital.” Said a warrior, bowing as low as he could, and looked at his former leader in fear.
“Take me.” I commanded deathly serious, running behind wolves for about 20 minutes as a man, cradling her neck as best as I could, though I could feel that it was shattered… and running like this could damage her. She bled on my chest, and it pooled out her mouth in thin lines… I needed her. I felt her heart was so weak…. But there was also a faint second one.
She was with pup.
I ran faster, for the first time in a while my legs burned, and I hissed at the sensation of strained muscles on rickety bones. All I could think of was my mate. She was dying and it was my fault for being too slow…. And my pup. I could hear the little beats, it was unmistakable.
I burst the door to the clinic in with my foot, and my eyes darted around to see anyone, anyone at all that could save her.
“Calm down sir what is the problem? Is that your mate?! Oh my goddess.” Said a woman who pressed a button. There was a bed rolled out and I gently placed her on it, while they hooked her up on machines. They wheeled her into a room I could not enter, and I paced in the door.
“We don’t normally treat Rouges, but she was in so bad of shape, Dr Carson decided to do the operation on her neck for free…. Because she’s about 2 months pregnant.” He said quietly.
“You speak to the new Alpha and Luna Doctor.” Said a warrior behind me, and he immediately bowed.
“Is she going to be ok?” I asked ignoring their chatter. I clawed the wall in my frustration.
“Alpha, I cannot guarantee that. She has lost allot of blood and she is not healing….” He said softly.
