The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 37

I clenched my fist, looking out the window, to see that the sun was rising… how long had she been like this.. how long did I have left with her? I looked at her pale, sleeping face. I touched her cheek, and she was cold as ice. I shed bitter tears for my mate, something I thought I would never do. I never thought I would be in the hospital like this…. I never thought I would have to watch her die.

The King stepped forward, and took a deep breath. “I will give her my blood.” Said his deep voice that shook the windows. “Of my blood… I will give that my unborn may live.” He commanded, making all of us submit. His eyes were red, darker than I had ever seen on anyone, even myself…

“Of course.” Stuttered the doctor, and they allowed both of us inside. Her hair was splayed across the bed, and her neck was heavily bandaged…. To see her like this. In stitches. It made me feel less than a man.

The Wolf King bit his wrist, and put his bleeding arm to his grandpup’s mouth. “Drink, my smallest pup. I remember… when you were young, it was you who never feared me…. it was you who would attack me, nip me, challenge me.” He said with a soft smile. “As a pup… you led the others with the ferocity of my father, yet you cried fat tears for the smallest things. You break your grandfather’s heart. This world would be very ‘lame’ without you.” He put a gentle kiss on her forehead, and she began to drink in her sleep. He removed his arm, and she slept, looking like a small baby in all those blankets.

“Thank you…” I told him.

“Thank me not. This is one time I will interfere… for she is my most precious. There are only 8 of my line now… including the newest pup.” He patted her flat belly. “You drink as well… you have earned my audience for aiding me with Grahkes.” He commanded me, and I took two steps forward. I felt like the time I ate mushroom on accident the moment the incredibly hot blood touched my lips.

He removed his arm, and I could feel that my eyes were dilated. My wolf had gone mad. He thrashed around, but my wounds were healed, and I felt stronger. He felt as if he had gained power we were never supposed to have.

“You are stronger, though I only gave you enough to unlock your truest self. Now you befit your title. I suppose you may fight my grandpup Kaiden in his glory, though if you do, I will punish you both myself.” He said sternly. “I do not like when my blood fights… as there are 9 now.” He said somewhat pleased. I had been claimed as blood of the king… not too bad for one who was an outcast, thrown to the wilds as a boy, in hopes he would die.

“How long have you read my mind, Your Highness?” I asked.

“From the beginning. I can always… because I am the First to have Skin.” He said casually. “Sleep little Isabelle, and awake with your truest inner power. You will need it for the strong pup you carry.” He said with a small smile and left out the door.

I held her hand and went to sleep holding it. I knew she would be fine… but I still couldn’t help but worry.

I woke up to see that she was still asleep, but she wasn’t as pale as she was before. She was also sweating, nearly soaking the sheets that they had given her. I pushed the button that said ‘nurse’ and a woman in heals promptly answered.

“Yes Alpha?” She asked timidly.

“She’s too hot.” I said plainly. She left out the room, and came back with clean linen and another woman with her.

I watched them as they gently lifted her, and changed her sheets, as well as took her temperature. “Alpha she has a bit of a fever, though I think it’s because she has the Blood of the Charred One in her veins… all her other vitals are fine Sir.” Said the other nurse timidly as well.

They smelled of fear, and it was setting off Ven. He felt as if they weren’t sure if they couldn’t be confident about it. I had to argue with him about this for 30 minutes, because they were small women. They had never seen a Beast before, and I felt taller since I went to sleep.

She stirred, but didn’t wake up. I held her hand and rubbed her knuckles in little circles. “Fight my little mate. I am here waiting for you.” I whispered, kissing her on the forehead.

“Bryson it hurts.” She said in her sleep. I pressed the button again.

“Give her something for pain.” I commanded, and they left, to come back with the doctor holding a needle. I growled. Me nor Ven trusted that… but if it would stop her pain..

“Alpha… this is medicine for Luna. It won’t hurt her or the baby… and will ease her pain.” He said quietly. His voice was always calm. I think he may have been the Alpha Doctor, as he wasn’t as affected by my anger as the others.

I said nothing, but watched him with black eyes. He nervously approached, and injected her with the medicine. I did not trust it, but he knew if she died, I would kill them all. I really meant that. I could see it in his eyes that he knew without me saying a word.

She slept with discomfort, and I soothed her as best as I could. They came back with regular injections for pain and put her into a sleep that was too deep for my liking…. But if she woke up and moved too much, her nerves would be damaged. They removed her neck brace while she slept, but her nerves would need healing for at least another month.

Her phone was brought to be by a limping Beta Zackery. He held his head as low as it could go, because he thought he failed me. He did, but there was only so much he could do if the pack restrained him on my mate’s orders. Even if he escaped, he would have had to get through every warrior that was watching the pack at the time. Even Ven wasn’t blaming him.

“Alpha, her father has been calling all night.” He said scratching the back of his neck. A form of submission. It asks the Alpha for mercy, though it is not as critical as the bow he held. He looked almost like an Omega to me.

“Rise from that pitiful submissive stance, and look at me as the Beta you are.” I told him firmly, taking the phone and unlocking it. I pushed the green button to see that ‘Dad’ had called 12 times.

The phone rang once before he answered. “Izzy are you ok! Please be ok my little girl.” He said with concern.

“The King gave us his blood, she is healing, though it will take time. She sleeps so she won’t move.” I told him somberly.

“What the Fuck happened?! I was only told she got injured in a challenge, not put in the hospital!” He snarled.

“I went with the King to fight Grahkes, and i made her promise she wouldn’t try anything rash while I was gone…. But she went and challenged the former Alpha of HalfMoon after he was at the border of BeastMoon.” I told him. The line was quiet a long time.

“Then I cannot blame you for what she has done herself… Did you at least make him suffer?” He asked with a growl.

“I ripped him apart before he bled out, so I assume he felt it.” I snarled, agreeing with his viciousness.

“I want you to call me after she wakes up!” Said what sounded like his mate.

“Of course, grandmother.” I said with a small smile. The line was silent again a long time. “Grandmother?” She parroted.

“She is also with pup, about 2 months… we didn’t know until tonight.” I said proudly.

“…. Holy shit. A Grandpup…. I’m only 236, I’m too young to be a grampy!” He laughed, and there were growls and I heard the pop of a beer. I wouldn’t assume anything less if he was the man I thought he was.

“Well you are, and I’m a father at 287. How fucked up is that?” I said, and he laughed.

“My lady my grandpup’s father is older than his grandfather.” He chuckled.

“You’re both old geezers, leave the fun for the youngins.” Said his brother, and I could hear them tousle a bit. I looked at my sleeping mate, who smiled unknowingly. I wasn’t sure how much she heard, but my heart was relieved to see her not in pain.

“Well ‘grampy’ we’ll visit after our pup’s born.” I told him. And we both hung up after saying our goodbyes.

Well… I was now related to my enemy. I didn’t care about that anymore though.
