I shook my fur, making a small U-turn, as I was maybe 5 minutes from home, but I knew Caleb was already there, so I wasn’t worried. As long as there was an Alpha around, no one would try something stupid. At least I hoped as much.

This was something that I had to do.

I shifted when I got to the jail. They didn’t have my size, and I forgot to get a pair before I left, so they would have to just enjoy the show. When I opened the door, I could swear I wanted to rip their throats out. Whatever they did, it made my horns spiral out my head without me actually wanting them out, so I knew they’d all done More than what I already knew.

“What time is it?” I asked a Warrior who’d followed me in case I wanted to go inside their cells.

“4:45 Alpha.”

“Alright. Do a few rounds outside, I’ll link you if I need you, but hopefully I won’t.” I said giving him a firm pat on the shoulder. He nodded, leaving out with the keys. It was too tempting with him in here. I noticed they all had the red hair of their father, with his grandson’s being a little more blonde than his father and aunts. They all also had some shade of green, and their wolves eyes flashed a yellow likely from the danger they felt from me. I didn’t understand one thing though. They Knew I was the Son of the Horned one, and Caleb the Crown Prince’s son before they started this mess….

Maybe they wanted to die. Grumbled Ven, but I disagreed. They were vengeful, and probably not thinking when they did this, because I could tell this had to have been done before to their enemies. They likely thought that the church would do their wrong before they could get away with theirs.

“Ready to torture us already?” Giggled Grisham nervously, interrupting me and my wolf. “There’s nothing you can do to me Pup.” He growled. I chuckled.

“Trust me, there’s more than enough that I could do if I wanted. But I’ll save that for Caleb. If he knew you were breathing in this pack right now, he’d have killed you twelve times over by now.”

“He’s just stopped drinking his mommy’s milk. What makes you think-” I grabbed him by the shirt, and slammed his face against the bars.

“Choose your next words very carefully. I technically Don’t need keys to get these bars open.” I sneered. “Why were you targeting the Third Prince instead of Me?” I snarled.

“We did all the King’s dirty work. All of it. You think they’re so ‘noble’. Who do you think gets things done when they won’t? Do you think it’s convenient that my father was Third so long?”

“He honored the deal he and Phillip struck. He blood oathed he would not be involved. Don’t try and smear them.” I growled.

“Yet You got off Scott-free.” He sneered back. “Years my father worked, trying to get some Respect to the house of Finnand, And what do we get? Thrown away like Rags once father dies. No justice. Nothing. And above all he gave That Bitch-” I cut him off by bending the silver lined bars and I took a step inside after I bent them back.

I grabbed him by the throat, seeing flashes of him and his father in I assume an Alpha’s office, so Brutus’s… I saw the fox; I saw others being purchased… they had expensive tastes. Cars, clothes, ironically enough fur coats. I saw them laugh after getting in cars at funerals, and plot together in a large room. I saw marriages yet they were in bed with other people, and pups were by their mistresses and misters….

All of these flashes were so fast and vivid I thought my mind would melt but the last one was strange. Through his eyes I saw his sisters hand arrows to him after they dipped them into a bubbling cauldron over a roaring fire…. They were in ancient clothing and the arrows were coated green…That had to have been some kind of plant based poison. I didn’t understand why this was important, but I didn’t have time to dissect that. It had to be something especially malevolent, but I had to address them now...

“That doesn’t take away from his Seat!” He yelled as best as he could while I squeezed his throat, gasping because I realized I was about to crush his windpipe, so I let him have a taste of air.

“Oh my fucking gods It DOES. The Only reason you’re alive is because you’ve wronged so many, that it wouldn’t be fair for them not to watch at least one of you bleed. You all benefited from doing nothing but slithering, and you whine when your head gets cut off.” I snarled. “Your slimy lot don’t Deserve anything other than to Die.” I growled.

“And on who’s authority?” Said his sister. “We worked hard to be where we were. We ran that pack when Phillip decided to turn a pet in to a mate.” She growled.

“On my own.” I said glaring at her, wringing that cur’s neck. “A true mate was chosen, and by law your kin were to respect it.” I dropped him on the ground, and Grisham choked for air. “And without fail, Brutus just wanted power. He used that as an excuse.”

“My mate will hear of this.” Hissed the other sister. “He Owns Ohiya.” She snarled.

“And He decided to literally give you to me without any hesitation. If he were your true mate, he’d be here either dying or fighting for you.” I said nearly rolling my eyes. “And all of you are dying in sundown tomorrow. I’ve made my judgment.”

“You can’t do that without the King. I’m still a member of the court as the mate of the 14th Seat.” Huffed a twin. I couldn’t tell them apart, nor did I really care.

“I can because all of you in this room were in the background of that nice little phone call to the Church. You all broke Wolf Law, targeting your King’s kin, And I can literally see the sins of you all. But what I don’t understand is Why?” I snarled. Being in the same room with them gave me a literal headache. I knew they’d done Anything to be in power they shouldn’t have, and the urge to be done with it was very tempting.

“Our reasons are our own.” Said one of the twins. That she said that made me think they knew about Minetta… even so all the more reason to kill them. That woman really did have a target on her back if I was right…. But I kept my face neutral

“And our connections will come for us, and your pack will burn border to border.” The other one said as if she was trying to convince herself.

“Again, you were just plucked from where you were, so obviously no one has any issue about letting you come here for execution. They’re all probably in the arms of their true mates by now, except yours, since I know you killed her. The !4th Seat does too as of this morning.” I said with a little anger.

“You monster! You ruined Everything!” She screamed, grabbing and gripping the bars tight enough to make her knuckles white.

“I wonder how many pups I’ve tried to assassinate the day he was born, yet the Second Seat thankfully has an heir. I wonder how many times I’ve tried to kidnap the Fifth Seat’s mate, and even better, I wonder how many times I’ve gotten someone killed because I was having an affair, and they tried blackmailing me. I wonder how many shifters I’ve purchased only to physically and mentally torture, calling them ‘pets’. All of you are sick.” I said glaring them in the eye. They all look like they’d seen ghosts.

“How do you Know that?” Demanded Grisham. “Tella how does he know about your affair with your true mate?”

“I don’t know! No one knew but us and father-YOU traitorous DOG!” She screamed, and they all turned on each other.

“You were father’s favorite! It wasn’t my fault we weren’t men!” Screamed the other twin.

“All you had to do was shut up and keep your legs open for the Right wolf!” He laughed. “You two had it easy. I was the one doing all the dirty work.”

“At least my son wasn’t worthless, lying with foxes!” she yelled at the top of her lungs, and she was slapped by her brother.

“At least He knew the difference between pet and duty.” He snarled.

“It’s your fault I needed a pet in the first place 90 years ago. I should’ve eloped with my mate when I found her.” He growled, and I got a chair. I wanted to hear.

“She was a Fucking Omega! A Low born one at that. I’d have rather you married that mutt fox, at least the half-breed pups you would’ve had might have had some damn power. Useless Boy.” He snarled.

“Useless old man.” He sneered. “Omega-ness is random. She could have Just as easily gave me fine pups.”

“I did everything for you! If you would have hurried up, your pups would be Breathless Ones!” He shouted, angrily taking his shirt off. His son did the same.

They shifted and started fighting, and his father won. If I’m not mistaken, he was a few thousand years old, and Keithelas was about 130. They planned before Hazel was even born to arrange one of the Fourth Seat’s pups or grandpups with him, and for some reason it made me sick. When it’s true mates it’s different.

With Isabelle I didn’t even know I would have a mate, yet she was born, grew and chose me after she was ready. What they wanted was forced arranged marriage like what mortals did in the old times. It was a time period they were from being thousands of years old, so it didn’t sound so bad to them, but for me… It made my gums itch.

This wasn’t the way of wolves.

No one should be forced to be with a mate, the whole point is that we’re happy. We live until we’re killed. That could be thousands of years of pretty much torture, knowing of what could have been, but settling for someone else. It was asking too much to make someone settle for a mark mate instead of being with who they want, but he still had no right to bring anyone else into his problems.

“Enough.” I growled with enough force that they shifted involuntarily. “All of you are dying Very soon; why not spend your final moments together in that cell instead of squabbling.”

“He’s right.” Mumbled one of the twins. None of them really made an effort to stop the bloody fight between father and son, except me. It was almost as if they didn’t even have a sense of family. This was the reward of Brutus’s legacy. Spoiled Terrible people. Rotten souls who will join their father shortly. And at least out of all this, those impacted by them, may find some solace, some justice.

I couldn’t get their mates, but this was good enough. I also doubted that any left alive would try anything now. There was no one to blame and get away with what they’d done anymore. As for the pups of the four of Brutus’s line, since they were adults, they would die. For now, I would leave their pups alive since they were all no older than 3.

I wouldn’t punish them for their parent’s wrong.

I left out the cell and bent them back, but just in case I had him moved into a different one. Their lies and wrongdoings had caught up to them, yet I still wasn’t quite satisfied. I wanted to at least interrogate the spouses of the two she wolves, however one was a Seat, and would be investigated separately, and the other cooperated, giving any documents needed in exchange for immunity.

Phillip was already on his way since he’d heard about the happenings with the Church, and I would wait for anyone else who wanted to see the execution. The King and Queen likely wouldn’t come, as he’d already told me he didn’t feel comfortable being my punisher, yet coming to functions I held.

I had no grudge against him; he did what he had to to keep order in his court. He had to show he was still King, and I had to show he was the one who ruled for all to see. What we’d done was a favor to him, but as Alpha he couldn’t take that gift at face value. I understood that. But these wolves were banished from the courts when he refused to make Grisham the Third.

It showed me that he didn’t like the corruption, but allowed it. I still didn’t know how to feel about that. Between the four of them, and Brutus, so many lives were ruined, made sorrowful, or difficult because at the end of the day, he did nothing, leaning on not having proof. But then again, I didn’t think he could literally see their sins. But how could I? This was something I didn’t think I should be able to do, yet I knew what they’d done without reading a single page of their known crimes.
