The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 56
Bryson
“It’s almost 10, but if you two would like, we could have a meal together, Caleb’s on the way with his mate.” Said Kaiden and I nodded, but my mate hadn’t been this happy and excited in a long time. It made me wonder was I enough for her….
“I can’t eat cooked food. The pups only want raw. I hate it. I want doughnuts, cake, candy, pickles Anything Else.” She complained. I chuckled. Her aunt fired up the stove, while I was about to go outside to hunt.
“There’s steak in the fridge.” Said Connor. He held a smile on his face, eating what looked like a candy bar.
She pouted, and sat at the table. I rummaged around for a thick cut. She often had a bad habit of saying that she wasn’t ‘that hungry’, yet she needed more. It made me chuckle when she whined, complaining. It was most likely one of her father’s cuts of steak that I found in the back.
She ate like she was about to shift, she legitimately scaring the warriors. Her mother laughed, handing me small manilla folders. “These are for all the pups. The King already gave stamps to them, he also gave us extras should anyone else give birth so soon.” She shot me a small glare and I ignored it.
My mate went to sleep nearly the moment she finished, and I carried her upstairs into her old room, I nearly laughed. Unicorns. They were everywhere. Posters, figurines, even stuffed toys. It was so pink in her room, that I thought it was her favorite color. It was actually purple. According to her, there was a difference.
I didn’t want to leave the room, but I wasn’t anywhere near tired. I typically went to bed about 2am, so I pulled out my phone and did pack business. I sat at the edge of the bed, bored but busy. There was a light tap on the door, and I saw it was her mother.
“I know you want to be with your mate, but I can assure you, she’s safe here.” She told me with a smile. She sat in a chair in the room.
“I have wolves after my mate Eclipse, it isn’t the same. They want her and my pups dead because of my bloodline.” I told her looking out the window. The wolves outside looked vigilant, and some were even shifted. Kaiden had taken the same precautions I had.
“I know that, but I don’t want my son in law worrying himself to age. Do you want to look 50 at 300?” She joked.
“No ma’am.” I chuckled and she punched me lightly on the arm. If it was all her strength I couldn’t tell.
“No ‘ma’aming’ me, I’m not even 100 yet! Now come down, I know you want some homecooked southern food. We made cornbread, pinto beans, greens, ham hocks, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and gravy. Pealed and mashed, no premade anything.” She said proudly.
“Ham hocks?” I repeated. I had lived out in the wild, if I had boar, I just roasted it. The hock is the ankle….? How is that a meal?!
She looked at me, and motioned for me to follow, then she got behind me and pushed. She wanted me to walk faster, but she had to nearly run to keep up with me. The plate they made for me was massive, and the food did look good. The only thing was that I had never had anything cooked this way before.
They were wizards. I knew I would get myself into trouble with the gelatinous ham hock, but it was salty. The bones were nice to chew too, though no one else seemed to be as interested in those. I was surprised my mate still slept over the sounds and smells of eating, but she did eat about five pounds of meat by herself.
“Tell me, did Ash put Grahkes back to sleep, or is he still awake down there?” Asked the little human.
“He is asleep, but who is Ash?” I asked confused.
“The Wolf King. I forgot to text him about it.” He said casually. The only people who had his number was the royal family, and he was mated to a minotaur….
“I’m a king myself, though I prefer my human alias name.” He told me sipping wine. It also came to my attention that he heard my thoughts. I internally sighed. I understood now why Ven behaved. I knew from what I saw that the old ones cannot die, and the kings can’t because someone has to be around to stop them.
I wondered why no one told me this, but I assumed he wanted it to be kept secret. “Interesting. Are there any more Old Ones in this area?” I asked him, and he looked like he debated on telling me.
“One though he isn’t a threat. Zakest, the Flaming One, however he is dormant. He was defeated by your older brother, Xaxas for his disobedience.” He put some butter on a roll before his mate could snatch it out his plate. It reminded me of something Isabelle would do.
“How was he disobedient?” asked Michelle’s mate Martin.
“They were supposed to destroy this place, but he saw the native peoples as pure. He would not kill the innocent, so he sacrificed his body in exchange for the destruction of more corrupt places instead. He should have his body regenerated by now though.” Jerold mentioned casually.
“Alpha there is a Rouge last seen at the edge of the western border, but he is a Lycan. A really old one.” Said the warrior full of worry.
“I got this.” Said Jerold getting up, but Kaiden stopped him.
“I am Prince of Wolves; it is my duty to fight or die to protect what is mine.” He snarled. I rolled my eyes.
“This table is all princes, by that logic any of us could get up and go out. What was his name?” I asked the warrior sternly. He saw my red eyes and nearly shit his pants.
“Um he didn’t say.” He shook.
“Grey, glazed blind eyes?” I asked
“…. Yes sir.” He said quietly.
“What the fuck does Orek want?” I grumbled.
“You know him?” Asked Kaiden.
“Yes, he’s an elder in my pack. He’s not advised me on shit though until now.” I growled.
“Bring him here.” We grumbled at the same time and looked at each other.
The warrior ran out the door, leaving us to wait for only a about 15 minutes or so. They rode him to the front door on an ATV wrapped in a blanket, and he frantically ran inside.
“Alpha your father walked the earth in search of you and yours today, yet none saw but I.” He said on panted breath.
“I have nothing to do with him.” I said flatly, and he shook his head.
“He is a God. He wishes to give your little one’s his mark, his horns as well, for I have seen visions. They are the past and the future.” His blind eyes nearly glowed blue when he said that, and I took a step back. This was dark magic that I didn’t want to get involved with.
“You speak in riddles.” I snarled, and he shook his head again.
“It is all I am allowed to say. Those pups asleep in their mother’s belly will change the future of the world. They should not exist, yet they do. As do a few others.” He smelled afraid to go any farther in the house than he already had.
“King Aeschylus, please do not leave this pack until the pups are born. The darkness will not challenge they who rule.” He passed out on the floor, and coughed a large amount of blood.
“What’s so important about the horns?” Asked Kaiden’s brother.
“It marks them as his. He wishes to claim my pups as he did me. You do not sleep, eat, drink, take a piss without the desire to kill. You do not know mercy or love. You do not have rest. You are destruction. I feel what I am inside, and I choose to never use it… but if anything happened to my mate, I don’t know …. I don’t think I would care anymore. I changed for her sake, Though then I didn’t have my power unlocked.” I said honestly, and everyone was quiet for a moment.
I looked at them questioningly, but Jerold seemed unphased. “I’m surprised the Lord of Light isn’t trying to stop him then.” He commented casually.
