Isabelle

It had been a month since my last doctor visit, and I was 3 months pregnant now. I had a bump that everyone could see, and I had to nearly nip Bryson, because he wouldn’t stop rubbing it. He snuggled into me, smelling my scent and growling softly. We were in our office, and I was in his lap, though my belly was making him have to support me.

Today was special, but he wanted to get the last of the paperwork done without my help. Bryson had to learn the computer systems, and I got my desk put in his office a little way off, facing the door. I watched him as he typed slowly, but I was getting impatient. My family finally could visit, as they all got stuck with crazy schedules like we did. I wanted them to hurry up.

I heard the sound of a car, and Bryson grabbed me before I could run down the stairs like I wanted. He ran down for me and put me down. And the first person I hugged was my little brother and my best friend Mini.

“I missed you!” She screamed and we hugged. Caleb and Bryson both looked pretty jealous, but they would have to wait. Mom was next, and she got me with hugs and kisses, but nothing compared to the hug I got from dad. He picked me up off the ground and held me under my armpits.

“Izzy you make me so proud.” He said kissing me on the top of the head and putting me down. Bryson looked pissed, and linked something to my dad. They both growled. Dad had claimed me in front of the pack. Being kissed on the top of the head was something not to be taken lightly, but he was my dad. It was his right to do so.

“I promised I would behave, but if you continue, I will peel that dusty ass pelt off your back Kaiden.”

“I made no such promises… I would like to see you try.” Dad snarled, but he got slapped by mom on his chest.

“Kaiden be nice!” She scolded. He grumbled a growl, and we both made them shake hands.

They both were trying to basically break each other’s wrists with their grip. “Ven you’re breaking your promise.” I chastised.

“Lady damnit.” He grumbled and they let go. “My word means more to me than a pissing contest with your father.” He said holding his head high.

Dad narrowed his eyes, but I heard the refrigerator slam. “Who the Fuck put all this Healthy shit in here.” Growled Uncle Connor. how did he get in here without anyone noticing?!

“Who let Him in here?!” Bryson motioned his hand to my uncle, who happily ate a frozen yogurt tube. Uncle Connor looked completely innocent, though he was just as strong as dad. He never got mad though. I don’t remember ever seeing him with a frown.

“I love you too, now everyone sit your asses down so we can get to know each other…. Or before Nancy slaps you.” He said with a chuckle, and Warriors had helped her take a crap ton of food out the trunk of dad’s old car.

My mouth drooled, because of all the women I knew, her and my mom could really cook. Bryson sat at the head of the table, and I sat to his right. Caleb and Mini sat on the other side, and dad was at the other head of the table. They both shot each other silent glares, but really it was all bluff. They didn’t know how to express themselves around other alphas, at least, my mate didn’t.

He was used to fighting Alphas, not being one. “I would like to make a toast.” Said dad, who had a glass of water. “A toast to my little Izzy, who braved the wilds to find a man she deemed worthy. And to the man, who changed. He is a monster no more, now he is a man. I know how it feels to get soft Alpha Bryson, though I was never in your shoes. I could tell when I saw you carry my little girl, that you’d changed. I hope you didn’t mind me fucking with you too much.” He said with a small smile, and drank his water.

“I can raise my glass to that. And yes, I did mind. I wasn’t going to like the Wolf King’s punishment for turning you into a wall rug.” He said with a small smile, and dad shook his head with a grin.

“You’d be ashes Beast Boy, let’s spar after dinner.” He looked at Nancy with a fear in his eyes. She never allowed table fighting. Mom was also giving him a death glare that could cut stone.

“Deal, but human form.” He said, slicing his meat with a knife like a gentleman. Usually, he just put the meat to his mouth with a fork, but today he would behave. I smiled at seeing that. There was also a reason to not shift, as both their wolves hated each other. There was also the fact that they were from blessed lines. Dad’s bite literally turned the affected area to ashes, and Bryson felt no pain. His bite could rip the meat off bones, and cannot be stitched because his fangs are serrated.

“Did you pick a baby name?” Asked my mom.

“No, I’m just going to wing it. I don’t want to know if it’s a boy or girl.” I said honestly.

“Name him or her after your favorite Uncle.” Beamed Uncle Connor.

“No.” Said Bryson. “I was thinking …. Maybe my mother’s name if it’s a girl.” Said Bryson Quietly. “I never got to see her, but I know her name was Grace.” He looked at me, and I held his hand. This was a really touchy subject for him. There was a long silence before anyone said anything.

“I like it.” Said dad. They shared links across the table, and I was surprised that Aunt Nancy didn’t get them for it. She was very… aggressive about table manners.

“Thank you Alpha Kaiden.” Said Bryson, recognizing my father as an Alpha. He had never acknowledged any Alpha as their title until this moment. For a second, Dad’s eyes went wide with surprise, but he soon calmed his face.

I got up to put my plate away, but for some reason I felt dizzy. I was caught before I touched the ground by my mate, who set me down on the couch. “You need to rest.” He said firmly, and I wanted to argue, but I wanted to puke suddenly, so I didn’t say anything.

“Strong pups give difficult pregnancies.” Said mom, and she looked around and got some ginger ale out the fridge. I drank it and stayed there while the world wouldn’t stop moving. I put my hand on my stomach, and rubbed it gently.

“Little one 3 more months and you will be out. Be a little patient, not like your bull-headed father.” I giggled, and he looked a little hurt.

He kissed my belly, and then kissed me on the lips. “Don’t forget your stubborn mother.” He said with a big smile. “This still feels like a dream sometimes.” He told me, holding my hand. He held it like he thought he was going to wake up.

“You know, I prayed to the lady in anger before I set out to find you.” I told him honestly.

“What did you pray for, a handsome Alpha with long hair and big muscles?” He whispered, flexing his abs a bit.

“No… I prayed for a gods damn boulder.” I told him and he deflated a bit, but everyone kind of giggled.

“Well, I must say, you definitely found a boulder.” Said Caleb with a small smile.

“Don’t encourage her.” Said Bryson. “Her head will get too big to fit in the packhouse.” He said with a small smirk and I scoffed at him.

------Bryson------

Her family was a good one. Now that I wasn’t being hunted by every pack in the country, I could get to know Alpha Kaiden as the man I thought he was, not as how he behaved with me when I was a prisoner.

Isabelle went to sleep on the couch, and her mother shooed us out the living room so she could rest. I sat outside on a little bench, while Kaiden and his son sat in lawn chairs. I didn’t know where his Beta was, but I think he was with mine. I didn’t know his brother was so…. Silly. It is probably a farce. Betas are never this carefree; he probably does it to keep his wolf in check.

“I’m glad you’re her mate Bryson, because I knew when I fought you last that you were older than me without your half. I was fucking nuts without Eclipse.” Said Kaiden suddenly. He pulled a cold beer out his pocket, and tossed me and his son one.

“Father I do not drink.” He said looking at the can.

“Don’t worry, Bud Heavy is piss water.” I told him, and he popped the lid. He behaved almost like the King, and I wondered how my pup would behave.

“Don’t tell babygirl.” He mumbled.

“That’s so corny…. Lady.” I said popping the lid and taking a sip.

“So what, she likes it. What do you call Izzy?” He asked, the question also got his son’s attention even though he was the last not to drink.

“Wildflower, because I never met a girl so damn stubborn, wild, yet sweet.” I told him honestly.

“You’re just as corny as me.” Smirked Kaiden and we both chuckled.

We shared the beer in silence for a while. “I didn’t desire a mate until I found her. I actually tried to send her back to you, but obviously it didn’t work.” I said amused.
