The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 40
Isabelle
I slowly pulled my shirt over my slightly wet head without my mate’s help. The party last night was great, but I didn’t want anyone to see that I was still having trouble. It would make others worry, and the pack didn’t need a weak Luna. He had helped me with my shower first…. Since I threw up on the floor this morning. I was pregnant, it was to be expected but Lady did my neck hurt from the ordeal. It stung so bad that when it happened, I shed a tear or two from throwing my head back and heaving.
He got out the shower, stern faced, and arms crossed. “Isabelle, must you? I told you I was coming right out with your towels…” He said, looking over me to make sure that I was fine. I was, it stung a little, but I was ok.
“Look I even got my pants on!” I beamed, ignoring his discontent, but he seemed impressed after that.
“Come then to the new office with me.” He said picking me up, and leaving me only in socks. I wanted my shoes on too, but that was too much for me. He was the one who put on my Greetings Feline socks for me, but what if I wanted to walk somewhere? It is not happening, purred my wolf, who was silent up until now. She felt stronger, but we couldn’t test it yet. I was told no shifting until my baby was born, and I would never do anything to hurt my pup.
He sat down in the new office chair, and everything had his name on it. There was no Luna station yet, as the former Luna was never involved, and I wasn’t awake to tell them where I wanted my desk. It was pretty obvious: in my mate’s office. It reminded me of my parents’ set up in a way.
He sat on the computer, and typed the password in, pecking the keys. However, once it was open, he had no idea what to do. He had only learned the Alpha duties on the phone, though the aps were both very similar. Now we had to also deal with more than just registration. Payroll, business proposals, quarter and fiscal year analyzing were all also expected from Alpha. He rules the pack, protects the pack, and serves as its judge and jury on court cases held in his office.
I knew all that stuff though. “Let me show you.” I said, and he patiently watched me. It was fun seeing him learn, though there was only so much one could in a day. I didn’t want to fry his brain like an egg. It took me years to learn all this stuff with my dad.
“I don’t like this …. desktop, little mate. I miss doing things on your phone.” He growled grumpily, but all the tasks we needed to do for the day were done. The business and pack documents were read, and signed, while Zack called for the Omega Delivery Service to send it all off before 5pm. We were a 2 and a half hour drive from the nearest large human town, which was a little bad for business, but good for us. It meant that humans wouldn’t snoop as hard if our private pack lands were too close.
Oddly enough though, we were also a 2 hour drive from my family, but Bryson wanted to surprise them by learning to drive first. I gave them a call, and it rung twice before my brother picked up the phone.
“Sis.” He said flatly, but he was excited. I could tell.
“Caleb! I missed you!” I squealed, and he chuckled.
“We miss you too! Come over sometime, you’re only in southern Missoura.” He beamed, though to the average person, he probably sounded like he didn’t care.
“Can’t, I’m preggo waffles.” I say hearing him snort. Bryson silently parroted my comment confused.
“Then we will visit you sometime soon. How’s that little miss toaster oven?” He said with a smirk in his voice.
“Bring everyone!” I yelled and he full on laughed.
“I will try, but do not think that I can fit the entire pack in Baby Blue.” He said with a smile. I could hear him holding in a laugh.
“DID HE GIVE YOU BABY BLUE?! I’LL KILL YOU!” I snarled. My eyes were red and he laughed harder. Baby Blue was dad’s classic Mustang. Cobalt blue, manual gears… he wouldn’t even let mom drive it sometimes… and he Gives it to Caleb. I snarled, trying not to break my phone.
“Sorry, I asked first.” He snarled back, which made Bryson roar. It made me jump, I forgot I was sitting in the lap of danger.
“I’m gonna kick your ass.” I growled lowly.
“I would like to see you try big sis, but not anytime soon. Brawl at the Mall Super Special Sunday Smackdown featuring Izzy Blackness and Caleb the Quiet will have to wait.” I cringed. We did this as pups…
Bryson laughed. “Izzy Blackness is retired. All fights now go to the Beast Master.” He said proudly…. My lady.. that corny wrestler name. I looked at him judgmentally with a frown. “What? It was all that came on on the weekends in Horizon, WWF.” He said defensively.
“Bye Caleb, I love you guys so much.” I told him.
“Bye Princess Izzy Wizzy bringer of Blackness.” He chuckled, trying to sound like an announcer.
“CALEB!” I screamed and he hung up. “Lady Damnit!” I yelled.
Bryson laughed loud enough that I knew the pack could hear him.

After the interesting conversation my mate had with her brother, I left her with Gabby and the other females. She needed that, even though she didn’t want to admit it, and I needed her to be with wolves I trusted while I left the packhouse. It felt good to be Alpha. It felt good to be depended on, and I liked that everyone looked to me. I loved that my mate was where she needed to be. She was a princess; this was the least I could do. She seemed to be in her element here, whereas I was the fish out of water. My life was in the wild, I didn’t use human technology, and any money or gold I came across was for trading with other wolves, which was rare.
I went to the holding cells that were here in BeastMoon. It belonged to me now, so I got Beta to do the extra work of renaming the pack, but leaving the business names alone. That would be too much work.
The prison here was nothing like Horizon. Their building was up to code and massive. This place was more of a small county prison. It could only hold about 20 or so men. Most in here were there for intoxication, small fights, or other small infringements. Of course… that was after I leveled the first prison here. They sent real criminals to CharredMoon, like most other packs.
The former Luna, Beta, Gamma, and their mates that were all loyal to Chris were in the last of the cells in the back, and they looked thin. They were given no mercy, but also no harmful punishments or beatings. Everyone felt that it was my place to punish them.
A single guard followed me with his neck bowed. Many who had not seen what I could do, at the very least heard about it. I never took down any of the piked heads or pelts in the original part of BeastMoon, but I let them fly. Let everyone see what I would do to my enemies.
His Beta spat at my feet. I had clawed his face when he was a young guard for this very thing. How little he learns. I motioned for the one guard to open the door. I slit his throat and watched him bleed out on smooth concrete flooring. “Anyone else.” I said glaring at the Gamma and terrified Luna. She looked as if she was going to faint if I took a step closer.
The Gamma kneeled on the floor on his hands and knees looking at his Beta with terror in his eyes. “Please Alpha Bryson don’t skin me. I know my life means nothing, but please allow my soul to leave this world.” He begged. His eyes could not meet mine, and it sickened me. He was supposed to be a warrior. I used my boot to force him to look me in the eyes, and I saw it.
His soul was broken. It was a submission of the soul; he would never be of use to me as he was. I swiftly rotated my foot and stomped his skull. I did him a favor. Their mates cried holding each other, but it was the way of the pack. I would expect nothing less to happen to Zackery and Gabby if I failed them.
All three women were in a shared cell, and I noticed a citrus smell in there. One of them was with pup. I asked to be closed in with them and I sat in the small chair. I always hated prison chairs; they were not comfortable.
“Please Alpha we will pledge loyalty, do what ever you want.” Pleaded the Beta’s mate, holding her stomach.
“I don’t particularly like killing women.” I told them honestly. “Though I suspect that you will all be a threat to my healing Luna.” I told them with a growl that shook the bars. They backed into the corner of the cell and huddled into a small ball for comfort.
“Please, I swear I would never.” She pleaded. The other two were too afraid to talk anymore.
“I will let my wolf decide your fate.” I said getting up and letting him take over. It wasn’t so that I wouldn’t feel guilty, it was because he was a better judge of character.
“Hmm…” He said scratching our head. “I hunger for blood, but the Lady would not like that I killed weaklings with pup. Live. Vow loyalty and do not make trouble, or I will send you to the Horned One for oath breaking.” He said sternly. They vowed without hesitation, except the former Alpha’s mate. She debated on it, but ultimately cut her hand with her claws and vowed with the rest. “You will die for something as simple as my little mate not liking you. So. You will get this one warning. Behave.” He snarled.
“Thank you, I became with pup a month ago…. After Is-Luna Isabelle came to the packhouse… along with many other she wolves….” Said the former Beta’s mate timidly.
“Come with me.” I commanded of them.
I turned my back to leave out, and they silently followed, worried for their lives. I could also hear faint whispers. It had a buzz to it, but it was their voices. They were linking each other, and I could hear it. They worried for their pups, as Chris had a son that left the pack, and his Beta had a teenaged boy who wasn’t a threat. If he ever was, I would kill him and his mother. I already told him that. I am not one who leaves loose ends. Those that are a threat, or betray me die; I have no room for mistakes with the mate I have.
