The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 46
Bryson
I held my mate, who was asleep and completely tuckered out from mating. She had been tempting me a while, and I smelled her scent. It was like a drug. The only time in my life that I felt completely calm, like a fucking normal wolf, was when I was with her. I let her snuggle into me in her sleep, as it was still about 4 in the morning. Today I needed to figure out what to do with PineMoon, as no one had seen Vincent since last night. I rolled out of bed, letting her naked form be covered by my thick blankets. I had kept the furs in the closet, because now it was too hot to use them indoors.
After I showered and shaved, I went into my office and it was loaded with wolves. They all were from PineMoon, waiting for me. “Alpha, I’m Beta Franklin, and This is Gamma Dani… we pledge our blood oath to you, that you may give PineMoon mercy…. And allow us to keep our jobs.” He kneeled. Franklin was a 6’5, thin man with blonde hair and green eyes, whereas his gamma was a tad shorter. He was a dark red-haired male with grey eyes. They almost had no color.
“Why does your pack surrender to me?” I asked angrily. They trembled.
“Alpha, we were abandoned… we called the council and they said that whoever ran Al-Vincent off, was the new Alpha of PineMoon…and I am not strong enough to defend against Alpha Gregory.” Stuttered Beta Franklin. He shook when I glared at him.
“Alpha, if I may speak,” Said Beta Zackery, holding Libby. His little girl was asleep. I nodded. “Alpha, I humbly ask for your mercy on these men, as they run Pineworks Lumber, and Water Crest Quarry… I finally figured out the schedules and payrolls for Half Log Lumber, so letting them live would be a benefit.” He said with a deep bow, as if he had offended me.
“In other words, you wish for me to accept them, so you aren’t bombarded with 3 companies and two packs of work?” I said casually in the doorway.
“Please Alpha, I know I ask much.” He said seriously. They all lowered their heads as if I would say no. I almost rolled my eyes, something I picked up from my mate.
“I’ll allow it.” I told him casually. The professionalism Zackery shows was always welcome, as it calmed my wolf. Ven trusted him, and that was good enough for me.
“Thank you Alpha.” He said with a small smile and left. Today we needed to send payroll to the accountant so everyone could get paid. This would be my second time doing it, but this time, I would try to do it without Isabelle’s help. She never minded teaching me, but I wanted to be independent. I turned back to the wolves from PineMoon.
“For the sake of Beta Zackery, I will let all of you live, but know this: I do Not tolerate disloyalty. I do not tolerate schemes, plots, and ploys. If I even think you are breaking your oath, I will break your neck and skin you while you still draw breath. If you do not believe me, feel free to go to the original borders of BeastMoon.” I said with a glare. They all mumbled ‘yes Alpha’ and slinked away. They were terrified of me. It reminded me how wolves used to react.
I should have expected as much; PineMoon was where I grew up as a pup. I didn’t really remember them, but they did. They didn’t trust me, nor would they probably ever. It also doesn’t help that word spreads like wildfire, and most of the Alphas in the area knew of my horns. The Horned One… the God of Punishment and Destruction…. I was one of his sons. My ‘father’ was right all this time. The moment I got in my chair; my phone rang. It was Phillip.
“Good morning Alpha Bryson.” Said Phillip, sleepily.
“Yes Alpha Phillip?” I asked, getting some black coffee poured for me by PineMoon’s Gamma. They were still in the packhouse, though only to show loyalty.
“Congratulations, Beta Franklin faxed over the paperwork late last night. You’re now the Alpha of PineMoon, and it has been incorporated into BeastMoon. However, I want to warn you. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.” He said seriously, and yawned very tiredly. I did with him; the sun wasn’t even up yet.
“I didn’t want another pack, I wanted revenge. That pup killing bastard ran off like a dog with his tail between his legs.” I snarled.
“Well, just know you aren’t doing yourself any favors by taking over so many packs.” He said and hung up. I already knew that. I knew that when I took over this bullshit, that there would be issue. I sighed. His mate was imprisoned, and his pups were adopted. It was only a matter of time before he showed himself.
I heard a whistle, and I looked up to see that Kaiden had all their things packed, and the men were taking things downstairs. “We’re headed home, Shelly is tired of running Charred almost all by herself, so we will take our leave and come back. We will be back for our grandpup’s birth with the King. …. And take it easy Bryson… you look tired.” He said casually, and I waved him a goodbye. He knew she was asleep, and we all agreed to keep it that way. She needed the rest. Yesterday was a big day for her. She led like the Luna I knew she’d be.
I read pack emails and typed slowly, but I was getting faster. Time went by so fast, and I felt like there wasn’t enough time in the day to do it all. Payroll, along with other things were sent to accounting, and I had Beta look over everything. It was in order, and I was rather proud of myself that I did it without Isabelle. I responded to requests and disputes until small arms wrapped around my neck, leaving a trail of ambered sparks. “Little mate what are you doing?” I asked amused.
“I’m kicking your ass for not waking me up! I slept like half the day Bryson!” She snarled playfully. I think she was trying to choke me; I couldn’t tell. I debated on letting her think she won, but then it would give her a big head…. But if I put her in her place, I would hurt her feelings. I had already been warned to let pregnant women have their way a bit.
“Lady Moon.” I said flatly, and she nipped me on the arm. She growled and shook with all her might and I could not believe that I allowed myself to let her do this. I gave her a small glare and raised an eyebrow. She showed her neck.
“Sorry… I just really want to bite today.” She giggled. I wiped the drop of blood off my arm. She never ceased to amaze me with the things she could think of. Suddenly, her stomach growled louder than mine usually does. Pack business would have to wait.
“You attack because you’re hungry. Come, I will cook for you.” I told her, and she followed with a bouncy gate after I carried her down the stairs. She seemed to glow this morning, and her smile was infectious. She hugged me as tight as she could before she bit me again, trying her hardest to get me to yelp. I hissed in pleasure. Her little fangs gave me tingles now that were hard to ignore. I didn’t even know that her nips would make me feel that good.
“I don’t feel pain little mate… but stop.” I warned her. She sat in the dining room, while everyone seemed to try and convince me to let them cook for Isabelle. I turned them away, as this was Ven’s doing. Hearing her that hungry made him worried she wasn’t eating enough. She was, but he wouldn’t hear it.
She looked at me with innocent doe eyes, completely unaware that I was tempted to take her in the living room for all to see.
------Isabelle-------
I scarfed the pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon that my mate made for me, and he looked at me as if I were a nature documentary. He had never seen me eat like this before, and I was never this hungry. I was actually glad that my parents had left, because I probably would have brought them shame.
Bryson tried to take the plate away, and Glitter took over biting his hand. “My mate I am not done.” She snarled, and he patted me on the head.
“Little mate release me, that I may give you more.” He said without skipping a beat. She let go, and he put a large piece of medium rare steak on my plate. I ate that too. He chuckled, and I was full, but I didn’t want to leave the table. I just wanted to rest my head on it.
He carried me with him upstairs, and let me sit in his lap while he typed silently. Zack entered the room. “Alpha, PineMoon requests you to come to the packhouse to approve the last of their paperwork, and speak to the people.” He said with a small frown. He looked a little tired, but he was otherwise fine.
“I cannot with my mate so vulnerable.” He said firmly.
“Bryson this is really important, especially since they fear you… and I didn’t know you took PineMoon last night, I thought Vincent was alive?” I said, snuggling into him more.
“Vincent abandoned them, and so they are mine by forfeit.” He said casually.
“My mate, that makes it even More important! They are lost, and they need you too. I can sit in the car with Beta or something.” I said, looking at his red eyes glaze for a second. I wonder who he linked. He glared at me with a stoned expression.
“…. you will not leave the car.” He commanded, and my wolf submitted. Glitter was such a strange wolf, she submitted always, but was always ready for any opportunity of sex. She scoffed, and I smiled.
