The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 58
Isabelle
There was a bloodcurdling roar in the distance, it made me jump. It was my mate, and he had lost it. I had only gone out for a half hour, and he was already sounding like a crazed lost puppy.
“Isabelle!” he screamed in wolf at the top of his lungs. I swear Crimson side could probably hear him too.
“Maybe you should link him.” Said Noah, shaking his head.
Bryson I’m at the store with Jerold. I’m safe… I just need baby clothes. I soothed, but the link he sent gave me a headache
I need you safe. I cannot have you out of my sight my small mate. He snarled in my head.
“He’s being a dick about it, isn’t he?’ Said Noah.
“No, he’s just clingy.” I told him, and he nodded.
“Sounds like Bull Man over here.” He mentioned, and Jerold flicked him on the ear. Noah growled at him.
I need supplies Bryson. I linked him back as calmly as I could. I didn’t want to get all submissive… but I might have to.
I cannot feel assured without you near. Never in my life have I worried for another soul so badly… He linked. I will accompany you.
“Let’s wait for him to come over too.” I didn’t know what to respond to him. He was my mate… the only one I wanted to be with. Maybe tell him that. Said my wolf. She took all the pain for me so that I could run errands…. I felt so bad for her… No. if you are too painful, we cannot get things for our pups.
We waited for him at the coffee shop, watching the rain slow down, and the cars go by out the giant window. I remember Zeke as a pup, he would always give me free ice cream to share with Caleb, who didn’t like sweets. He would give me two cones and I would eat them both, until I had to bribe Uncle Connor with it, because I was spoiling my dinner. I smelled his scent on the air the moment the door opened. He appeared in just jeans, smelling like he was about to set the entire pack on fire.
He came over and hugged me, smelling my scent. “Next time ask me wildflower, I only went on a hunting raid with your father.” He mumbled into my ear, nearly nibbling it. I wish he wouldn’t have done that, because it nearly melted me. He chuckled.
“I still need to stop by Crimson side to mess with my brother.” I told him, stroking his cheek, and he hummed.
“There’s less security on that side.” He mumbled.
“Because my brother is fucking insane.” I corrected him, and he smiled. He got in the backseat with me, holding me like I was going to run away, but I was fine. I would swap with Glitter soon whether or not she wanted to, but other than the false contractions, I was fine. It was incredibly rare that a wolf would have a pup without the moon…. Well, these pups were different, but hopefully not too different. I didn’t want to go to the hospital to find out what we were having, or even how many. My wolf would let me know if there was a problem.
The Crimson Side was buzzing with warriors, because Jerold ruined the surprise by texting him. My brother was in the living room, and I got a chance to hug Mini like I wanted too! She was my best friend, and I missed her dearly even though I texted her regularly.
“What brings you to Crimson sis?” He asked with a small smile. Bryson wiped his feet at the door, and was tossed a pair of sneakers from my brother.
“To visit! Also, to ask something.” I told him, and I walked upstairs, I was followed by a train of burly men, and Mini. Me and Caleb were so in tune with each other, people often thought we were twins. I could actually read his mind without being able too. I knew what he was thinking before he thought it, and he was the same with me. He sat in his office chair, looking like dad’s photocopy except for his piercing blue eyes.
“Ok Shoot.” He said, motioning me to sit in a chair.
“Well…. I had this dream last night right. It was a nine foot tall horned man asking where I was and that it was important. Did you dream anything like that?” I asked. He shook his head no, but Mini looked freaked out.
“He asked me ‘where’s Isabelle my child’, but I woke up before I told… I wasn’t sure if I should have or not...” She was always timid, especially since she was the only hound in wolf territory.
“This is bad. I don’t know what he wants you for, but it can’t be good…” Said Jerold. His face was stern. “Gods don’t usually involve themselves with us mortals…” He scratched a spot under his horns, and Noah patted him on the back.
“But Uncle Connor got blessed by both the Lady Moon and the Lord of Light?” I asked confused.
“Yes, but those are gods of light. The Horned One… He is destruction, judgement, darkness. He isn’t one to trifle with.” He grunted, sounding like a bull. “I need to call Ashital on this. He needs to be down here too.” He mumbled. “Maybe Sky.”
I internally screamed. I was beyond worried “They won’t hurt my pups, will they?” I asked, holding my belly.
“Of course not. Even if they are born with horns, I will pardon them if Ash does not. You can live in my castle in Greece.” He chuckled, ruffling my hair. Bryson growled.
“You are too close.” He warned, and Jerold waved his hand dismissively. He did move his chair one scoot away for the sake of peace.
“Bryson, know that you both have my support, even if I have to go against father. I cannot best him, but I would try, that you two escape.” He said with a nod in our direction.
I was carried down the stairs by Bryson, noticing that there were many other pregnant wolves here too. Lily was pregnant, and though she was no longer officially a Luna, her scent still affected the other wolves around her. She bowed as low as she could go, though her belly wasn’t as full as mine.
“Luna.” She said taking a few steps back. She was most likely worried that she had overstepped by having pups and getting the others pregnant, but that was something between my brother and her. Mini didn’t have a wolf. She was only the hound, and this made her vulnerable to this hormonal Luna claim. This was a disrespect, as only the dominant she wolf would be able to get with pup, and have the rest follow. That she had done this meant it was on purpose by her wolf. I would have probably kicked her ass for this, but Mini is sweet hearted. It’s disrespectful, because it pretty much tells the current Luna that she’s not.
“Lilly, I would never be mad at you, but if I were you, I would stay away from Mini.” I warned.
“It was her wolf’s doing. Luna Mini and Eclipse already know, and I’m grateful they only gave her lashes.” Said her mate. He held her, kissing her on the forehead.
“Adequate.” I said leaving out. When it came to punishment, I no longer held a merciful heart for law breakers, unless it was something they couldn’t help. I don’t know why I was like this now, but I would not question it. I ran too many packs now to have room for such things. Also, anything that would challenge my status as Luna was usually met with extreme hostility from my wolf.
“Not really”, said my mate, who carried me. I didn’t want to ask what he would do, especially after seeing the carnage at the council. In his eyes, she would have offended me, and she would probably die for it if I wouldn’t stop him.
Jerold flicked him on the ear, and Bryson snarled. “No scaring the pregnant.” He chastised.
My mate said nothing, placing me in the backseat gently, and kissing me tenderly. “The only wolf I care about is right here.” He said silently, getting in the car.
“I know, but for the sake of life, don’t be an ass.” He warned him, but I could feel Bryson didn’t give concern to his words.
Isabelle, forgive me please. I am a fool…. Put up with me a little longer. I will keep you safe. If I have to give anything to have you, may they take it, even if I have a moment more with you. My heart, my body and my soul belongs to you. He linked.
I kissed him as firmly as I could on the lips, and wrapped my arms around his neck. …. Don’t say that… you make it sound like something bad is going to happen. I love you, and I know it’s hard for you, since you’ve always been alone. I linked him softly. He growled a rumble that shook me, and I rested my head on his chest. He was mine to love, and now I worried for him… I hoped he wouldn’t go nuts to protect me.
