The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 52
Isabelle
It was dawn. I meditated silently in the lawn chair outside, in front of a crowd of people, trying to ignore the pain I felt. That was normal, as I would pup soon. I ignored it looking around. The entire adult pack member population was present from every pack he led. It was time to be the stoic Luna they thought me to be, not concerned for the bloodshed that would happen today.
I was four and half months along now, and I looked like a human that was 8 or 9. Usually, there were women and men alike who would cheerfully ask about if I thought it was a boy or girl, but today was not the day for that. Today was the execution day of those who would give me and my mate trouble.
I felt no remorse for any of them, not even a drop of pity. Two were pup killers, and the other was a troublemaker. One who almost got Beta killed, and probably everyone in the pack that was outside. One who purposefully tried to ruin my relationship in an attempt to be a mark mate, and all she had to do was wait for her soul mate.
Bryson had them tied and in a row, outside in the field where challenges took place. They were kneeled, afraid, but unrepentant of their actions. I wasn’t surprised, as they all seemed like they thought they had been in the right. Today was hot, even though there was snow on the ground.
My mate stood in front of them shirtless, and in the boots I bought him. Why alphas always seemed to be shirtless, was beyond me, but I wasn’t complaining. My mate looked good, if not for the horns and extremely stern red eyed gaze. He snorted hot steam out his nose, and I couldn’t tell if it was because it was cold, or was he using his powers, but it made me lick my lips.
I will warn you one time to behave. He linked, giving me a small, but false glare. He made me want to pounce on him, but I wouldn’t let him know that. At least, not fully.
Yes daddy. I linked him sweetly and he stopped mid stride to stare at me with a confused look.
“Pack.” He said clearing his throat. “The wolves you see before you have committed not only crimes against the pack, but also against my mate. They are here to be executed, and I am here to be the executioner… but first. Are there any who wish to speak for or against these individuals?” He spoke loud and clear, without a snarl or growl to be heard.
He had learned how to control his powers somewhat, so long as he wasn’t angrier than usual when he used it. However, there were growls and the sound of struggling behind me.
“Let her be.” Commanded Bryson.
“I speak for my daughter!” Screamed Emma’s mother. She ran up to my mate’s feet and looked him in the eyes. I was about to stand up, but he held his hand up to stop me.
“Plead her case then.” He said patiently.
“Punish me instead Alpha, it’s my fault she is this way. I spoiled her, letting her have her way, and enabling all the terrible behaviors that she has done up until now. She would not be this way if not for me.” She said, beginning to cry.
“I disagree with you. No matter your parenting, her actions were her own. But I’m reasonable if you wish to take her place.” Said Bryson. I understand why he did it, because Emma would have to live the rest of her life knowing that She was the reason her mother was dead.
“No! Please Alpha not my mate.” Cried her father.
“It’s her choice.” He said casually, letting his claws come out.
“…. What would happen if I took her place?” Her mother asked timidly.
“I would kill you, as I intended her, and she would be pardoned, but banished. I cannot in good conscious allow her to stay.” He walked over to Emma, and cut her binds, as well as her gag.
I thought the girl was going to say something, but she didn’t. She stood there, like a deer in the headlights.
“Don’t die for that selfish ingrate!” Screamed her father, and he had a point, but Bryson held up his hand to stop the chatter that rose.
“It is her mother’s choice. If she wishes to die for her pup, I will not stop her.” He said sternly.
“Alpha no…. I will take my punishment.” Emma spoke quietly and somberly. Bryson nodded, and the pack watched her take her kneeling position with the others. He continued with the sentencing.
“Alpha Pine. You and your mate… I will very much enjoy this. Pup killing, murder, forgery, there wasn’t anything you wouldn’t do, was it?” He removed the gag off him. Vincent wasn’t the Alpha that he was. He was lean now, and covered in bruises.
“Fuck you, like you’re an angel. How many people have you killed, hmm Bryson? How many packs live in absolute fucking terror because I showed you mercy? You stand here because I chose to let you live, and here you are… so ungrateful.” He coughed blood, and chuckled a bit.
Bryson looked a little shook, but quickly changed his expression. “I have killed hundreds. Rouges, the innocent, Warriors, Alphas…. But never pups. At least not intentionally. I never poisoned any of those wolves either. My fights were fair, no matter how outnumbered. And as for ‘letting me live’, you did that for your own selfish reasons. You wanted to see how I would turn out, maybe use me, until you got scared that I was already stronger than you as a child.” He said, then standing in front of his mate. He removed her gag.
“I don’t plead my case, but for my pups. Allow them to live.” She requested with a bowed head and Bryson stood there for a while. If he revealed those pups were Vincent’s or people found out, they might get treated different.
“I’ll allow it, but I will not release the names of these pups. Their names will be changed, and they will live their life in this pack, not knowing, and eventually forgetting you both by Familial Bond Instincts.” He said sternly. It was something that naturally happened to adopted pups. If they are taken young enough, they forget their old lives. It would be a stretch with them, but it isn’t impossible. Dad sees Uncle Eric and Aunt Shelly as his parents, even though he was 15 when his real ones died.
Vincent tried to challenge Bryson by lunging at him, but he took him by the throat and slammed him on the ground. “Don’t worry, you’ll get your turn.” He sneered. Warriors were about to come to his aide, but he stopped them. “I’ll start with the young one.” He said casually.
He walked up to Emma and stood there for a moment, as if to give her a chance to apologize or plead her case, however she remained silent.
“I will show you a bit of mercy, but know you do not deserve it. You receive this gift because of your mother.” He said so low I almost didn’t hear it. He raked his claws across her neck. She squirmed on the ground for a second before becoming completely still. He curt her arteries, so she passed out before she died.
He then walked in front of Vincent’s mate, Ellie. “You two… breaking all your bones, and allowing them to heal wasn’t good enough for you.” Spat Bryson. He grabbed her by the throat, and rammed his clawed hand into her chest. He pulled out her still beating heart in front of her mate. Vincent screamed while his mate could not. She bled slowly in the snow, with a look of terror on her face.
“You are a fucking monster!” He screamed a sob that even I felt sorry for. I could almost see the bond between them break visibly…
“I wonder if that’s how Alpha Waters felt about you?” Asked my mate before he kicked him in the head, and broke his back. “Or my mate, when you told yours to kill my unborn pup.” The crunch made me outwardly cringe. “And yes, I am a monster. After I’m done with you, I’m taking your pelt, and I’m going to mail it to Alpha Greg, since he likes you so much.” He grinned stomping him again.
Bryson then did the one thing I knew I was going to dread. He forced him to shift. He dug his claws into a spot under the earlobe, where the jawbone connects and in an instant, Vincent was shifted. He whined, looking defeated, like he was ready.
Bryson had to have done that before….I did not know you could FORCE someone to shift….
There was suddenly an alertness to how dangerous my mate was within me, and I held my belly without realizing. He screamed, still alive, and it was something I would never forget. Bryson peeled the pelt off him like he was helping him take off a sweater, and I would probably dream of the screams the rest of my immortal life.
He dropped the quivering body on the ground, and he snickered sinisterly. He rolled up the pelt, and stuffed it in a shirt from a random warrior. “Send this to OpalMoon.” He growled, watching him bleed out in the snow. The warrior that handed him the shirt shook accepting it, and nearly ran off to the direction of the pack. He would most likely deliver it himself, as that would be too much to ask of an Omega…. That had to be the most painful thing I had ever watched. The entire pack was silent, and terrified. Yes, I knew he had done these kinds of things, but to see it was another.
He then had warriors place the bodies in the middlemost part of the field on top of a pile of logs that were placed. They were covered in pine resin and oil, then set ablaze. Vincent was unconscious, but I could hear his heartbeat…. He was still alive. He moaned an unearthly, unsettling gasp when the flames consumed him, but Bryson stood in front of it, saying nothing, smiling wickedly. He then turned my direction once it died down.
He walked to me taking tall, confident steps. It made Glitter beyond nervous. We had never seen him be so brutal before… and it made us both realize how absolutely dangerous this wolf was. But this wolf was my mate. He was coming over for I didn’t know what, but it wasn’t anything bad. It didn’t stop Glitter from being a kiss ass though. He cupped my chin with the palm of his hand.
“You are safe now, little mate. Never again will I let my guard down.” He mumbled, planting a gentle kiss on my forehead in front of the pack. He was this way for me, and me alone. I knew my mate… I could literally ask him to do anything, and he would do it. If I had asked, he would have pardoned them all… but I didn’t. He needed this. He needed to know that I was safe, and his.
