Bryson

I dodged the punch Kaiden threw at me, while his brother trained with Caleb. The sun hadn’t rose yet, but we all woke up about the same time. I landed a blow to his ribs, and he staggered back before he chopped me in the throat. We had been going at it for two hours now, and I was getting bored. It was clear that me, Kaiden, and his brother were equals, yet I wondered why they didn’t run separate packs.

I really didn’t care, as this sparring was calming down Ven. He didn’t like other Alphas around him, especially ones that wouldn’t kneel. I had my first council meeting today as well, but I wasn’t worried about that because I wouldn’t go alone. “I’m bored.” Said Kaiden suddenly.

“Me too.” I said honestly.

We went inside, taking showers in our rooms. I took a ginger ale out the mini fridge for my mate. She couldn’t really eat before noon, but I would be back before then. I kissed her on her sleeping forehead, and was thankful that her mother was here to take care of her. Both Betas would watch the pack while we were gone, and I decided to drive.

I got the keys off the wrack by the door, and went to my black Nissan. I didn’t care about that kind of thing, it’s just a car that came with the pack. “The fuck is this Miss Daisy car Bryson.” Growled Kaiden.

“What do you have against Midnight?” I snarled.

“This is the same car I bought my mate….” He said defeated and got in the passenger side.

I didn’t have the energy to fight him over a human contraption, I just got in and drove the speed limit to the outside of the pack.

“My Lady you drive like a mortal.” He complained while I went 60 miles in a 60.

“I am not getting a ticket because you drive like an idiot.” I told him firmly, and we got to the building on time, thanks to Kaiden already knowing where it was.

It was a square brick building that said Bison City Private Industrial, but we were in the middle of nowhere. I went inside to see however, many Alphas I already knew… including Alpha Vincent Pine, though he goes by something else with the mortals. Many Alphas did this, so that none would be suspicious of what we were.

“Ah, a pleasure Alpha Kaiden.” Said Alpha Nemi of YuleMoon with a smile, shaking wrists. It was a small pack in the boonies, but I had been there a couple times if times were tough to steal their grain out their silos. On seeing me his face became stone. “Bryson.”

“Alpha Bryson of Beastmoon.” Corrected Kaiden. He didn’t want to shake my wrist, but I didn’t care. He subconsciously lowered his head to me, and that was all I really wanted.

I did not wish to mingle, yet curious Alphas seemed to want to meet me, “Woa there, why don’t you calm down, you can challenge whoever it is to a Red Room fight.” Said an Alpha I didn’t know.

I ignored him, and went to the meeting room, where all the Alphas of the region met. The table was long and wide, and many had coffee from the espresso station, there were also small cups for tea and cream. There were 5 waiting Omegas ready to serve anyone who was already sitting down, and I served myself some coffee, while Kaiden had herbal tea. It was elderberry and lavender tea. It smelled good.

I sat next to Kaiden, while the elders sat next to him, headed by an ancient with paper white skin and hair. He had to have been a full 7 feet tall, with ice blue eyes. That had to have been Alpha Phillip, The Frosted one. I had never met him, but he seemed honorable enough.

“This meeting is now in session, I, advisor Alpha Phillip leads this meeting as Advisor to recognize Alpha Bryson as the new Alpha of BeastMoon, as well as the new Alpha of HalfMoon.” His voice boomed over everyone, and they submitted, except me and Kaiden.

“I motion to revoke his Alpha status, as he is a murdering wretch.” Said Alpha Ryan.

“Denied. He has been pardoned for his actions.” Said Phillip casually.

There was an uproar, and there were snarls through the room. “By WHO?” Many demanded, and Kaiden stood up.

“By my grandfather.” Said Kaiden, his eyes were red.

“And who is your grandfather to tell us anything Pup?” Snarled Alpha Vincent of PineMoon. Kaiden’s eyes were golden flamed, and mine were black with my wolf. Many were surprised that his eyes could change an additional color, and those who did not know me were shocked by my black. I was the only wolf in the room with black eyes.

Ashes spewed from his breath, I could feel its heat as he glared at him, and I tried to imitate it. I figured now was the time as any, and if I made myself a fool, I really didn’t care. I had nothing to prove to these asswholes.

My wolf was roused more, and from my belly, a thick white steam flowed out my nostrils. It wasn’t as hot as what Kaiden could do, but I wasn’t Charred. The fear in their eyes fed my wolf a little more than it should, and he puffed his chest in my mind.

I stood up, and put a hand on my father in law’s shoulder, and I decided to speak for him. “It does not matter who his grandfather is, what matters is that you respect his wishes.” I snarled, and most, save the oldest council members, showed their necks. I sat back down, and I could tell that Kaiden was having a hard time. I was too, but my wolf was never suppressed except for a few times now and again, so he trusted my judgement.

“Forgive us…. Your highness.” Said Alpha Cecil. I remembered how badly I had beaten him and stomped him into the dirt for challenging me. I had encountered and fought nearly half of them there, and they hated me for it, but that was their problem.

“Silence that we may finish.” He said with red, then amber eyes.

Phillip sighed. “I hereby formally acknowledge Bryson as Alpha. Any who oppose may challenge him for the title or his pack, but if you lose, you will lose yours.” He said freezing, then crushing an entire cup of ice with his clawed thumb. Impressive…

“I hope you rot in hell.” Said Alpha Vincent Pine of Pinemoon.

“Is that a challenge?” I asked with a raised eyebrow. The man was well over a thousand, so he had plenty of strength.

“No, but I challenge your legitimacy on the grounds he is a demon spawn.” He said with a smirk.

The room was silent, as was I. “That was just shit my father would say, because I was the reason mother died.” I snarled.

“But it is true… how do you think you breathe pup, if you were dead before you were born? The Horned One himself breathed life into you, after your mother sold her soul to him in the field you were born.” He said with a smirk. “The symbol of the Horned one is still burned in the ground and grass will not grow there.”

“He has no horns.” Said one Alpha, I subconsciously felt the top of my head.

“He does.” Said Phillip casually getting up. He walked behind me and grabbed my hair, making ram horns spiral out my head, and proceeded to sit back down. “Though he is all wolf. I will not revoke his Alpha status, as he was recognized by the King. I smell him on you son.” He said with a small smile.

“The King is not real.” Growled some.

I legitimately laughed. “All of you are fools. You knew Kaiden was the Charred One for two centuries, yet couldn’t figure out your bedtime stories were real. One of them has been sitting in front of you, and the other to your right for centuries.” I scolded them all, and they could do nothing but clench their fists or look away.

“I motion for Bryson the Beast to be executed, on the grounds that he is a monster cavorting with the Devil.” Snarled Alpha Greg. I think he was still sore for me breaking his arms and legs, then leaving him to rot in a ditch.

“His mate should as well. There’s no telling What kind of horror will come from her.” Snarled Vincent. I had had it. Both me and Kaiden were about to get up, but the anger that radiated off the Frosted One kept us seated. He was suddenly behind me, and I could not comprehend his speed.

“Enough.” Boomed Phillip. “His lineage means nothing, as he has been pardoned of his birth. The crime he committed was not of his own doing.”

“…. My crime was being born?” I asked quietly looking at the table.

“Yes, son. Your High Crime was being born. You should not exist, yet that you live, you have aided the King in your adventures, saving the lives of all those lost souls.” He said with a small smile. “Again, that request is denied on the grounds of the complete pardon by the King himself.” He said with an agitated sigh.

“We shall see about this.” Snarled Alpha Greg, storming out. Many followed, until only a handful of loyal Alphas to Kaiden or Phillip were there.

I put my hands on my horns, they were thick, and spiraled. I wondered how they had been hidden all this long time. And I wondered would my son have them…. I really was a monster.
