The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 91
Bryson
I held my mate close, listening to her heartbeat, and the soft snores of my pups. It was midnight, but I could hear the chatter and thoughts of the Warriors as they did their jobs downstairs. I didn’t have to try at all to hear them, it just happened on its own. Though when I was awake, I could shut out most of it. I had an inner and outer guard, and all of them had come inside so they could eat.
“Mm! This is so good!” Said my Inner guard, Warrior Kathrine. I selected her for her energy. She was a tad loud all the time, and the most responsible for waking me, but I hadn’t slept at all tonight.
“Oh My Lady Shush!” Yelled Warrior Makai, her captain, as she was the most responsible.
“Shit!.... Mindy, check to see if I woke up Alpha.” She giggled, and I heard a slap, then snarls, nip-growls, and then giggles. I then heard the front door slam.
“Ladies, we may need to get up Alpha anyway, the commander’s linked everyone to the southeastern border…. Seems the Rouges are getting bolder since no one put them down.” He said at a volume I had trouble making out. I had to piece it together.
“Fuck if it’s me, you do it.” Grumbled Kathrine, and Mindy snarled.
“Don’t look at me!” She said looking at I believe Makai, as she was the one who agreed to do it.
I got up carefully, keeping my mate and pups asleep. I swear they wouldn’t be with the bickering down there… I wondered how I could drown this out before I died, and made my way downstairs, meeting her halfway.
“Sir… you look like you already know.” She said with a bowed head, and I nodded, that she could rise. It became silent, because they could see that I was perturbed and finally getting groggy.
“Yes, your subordinates are too loud.” I glanced at Kathrine, who bowed apologizing, but she would do it tomorrow too. It was just who she was. Some wolves were just happy pups at heart.
“Alpha, we apologize for disturbing you, but the situation seems to be a bit much to handle. There are over 50 wolves trying to cross illegally.” Said my Outer Guard, Warrior Maisa’s mate, Warrior Cunnings.
“It’s fine. Can you show me where they’re congregating, and Why no one told me they were out there?” I said with crossed arms, and he bowed his head deeply.
“We thought we could handle it without you sir, but since they wounded Warrior Wells earlier today, they got a little bold.” I growled like a wolf, which made him gulp.
“If all of you would have told me sooner, I could have been out there.” I walked past him, running as a man into the woods, barely keeping up with Warrior Cunnings, who led me to Paul. He had a large gash on his leg, but he would be fine.
Sir, Warrior Tucker’s down, but alive. Linked a Warrior Grunting. They had been ambushed, so none were ready for this kind of breach in such a small amount of time. I ran faster, barefoot, ignoring the pain that I felt. No one knew I felt it now, except maybe Isabelle, but it was also something we never talked about.
I skidded to a stop to see a Unit of 10 of my wolves fighting nearly triple the amount of Rouges, while their leader was shifted watching. He was a stocky pure golden blonde wolf with green eyes. He looked to be about the size of Zackery, though he could have been bigger. To be ‘fair’ about 10 were standing with him, toying with them. It was an act of power that many Alphas would do, to show the enemy that they were in control.
Our eyes locked.
I smell no wolf in you. Do you miss him Horned Scum? He linked, chuffing a laugh as his wolf.
He is not needed, not for trash like you. I growled, glad that I practiced wolf speech. They all turned to us, and it surprised him, but he still stepped forward to me like he was my better.
Then I challenge! He roared, sounding every bit as an Alpha.
“You sound like a pup compared to Ven, but I accept.” I said in English; he wasn’t worth hurting my throat over.
He howled a roar, knowing that at the moment, I couldn’t. Warriors on both sides formed a circle, and we paced before I was charged by their leader. He snarled, and I dodged his first attack, but he got me with the second. I was bit on the leg, and I punched him in the gut. He coughed blood, but he laughed.
Is that All from the Mighty Beast?! Look at you. Look at your warriors battered and bloodied. Kneel to me, and I will make you, my servant. He gloated, running around me in a circle, so he could lunge at me again.
“You know what? Fuck this.” I grumbled, waiting for him to jump at my throat. I grabbed the top of his jaw, breaking it, and let his momentum and my strength rip him in half.
I surrender linked every rouge there; some even submitted belly up.
“Anyone else have the spine to step to me?” I said jokingly, hoping to ease the tension of what I’d done, but the only one who laughed was one of my warriors who was an ex-rouge…. Fuck.
There were gasps, along with silence. Wolves of both sides, shifted or not, kneeled in terror. I had a thought in a voice not my own, and I repeated it. I knew it was corny, but I figured why not. They had taken it seriously. I sighed; I would have to fix this. I walked to the one who stood at their leader’s right, who was completely belly up.
“Please we yield.” He begged, losing his form.
“Where are the rest of you?” I asked glaring at him, seeing reinforcements finally arrive. These skirmishes were happening all over until I killed goldie-wolf-locks.
“They’re only she wolves and pups!” He protested submissively, but I stopped in front of him, crossing my arms.
“I will not repeat myself.” I growled like a wolf. I surprised even myself. It caused the rest of his band to shift to their human forms, and the other captured wolves to submit. Slowly, wolves from the rest of the border brought me captured submissive wolves. Everything was under control, and thankfully my Warriors only had injuries, but no fatalities.
“A quarter mile on the other side of the hill….” He stuttered, “I told him not to mess with you, but he was obsessed with taking over. Alpha Guy…. I’m sorry.” He whispered, looking at the bloodied corpse. Now that I thought of it, he carried the scent of a Beta.
“Why is your pack out here? And do not link them to scatter or run.” I demanded, walking the direction of wolf I smelled faintly. I would be leaving my territory, which wasn’t unheard of, but I wasn’t going to kill the innocent.
He followed behind me, knowing that I was going the right direction. I felt something within me stir, and my sight improved. Killing that Rouge had started something. I’d gotten my claws back... but now I had my senses.
“We’ve been plundering Arkansus for over 75 years.”
“Let me guess, word got out that an Alpha with over eleven thousand wolves lost his wolf?” I asked with a raised eyebrow, but he didn’t see it.
“…. We knew better than to go to Jentucky, or here, but he wanted to go big.” He hesitated, stopping walking, but the warriors with me growled. There were about 85 wolves total, and I wondered why did they hide this from me?
There were too many, they would have a camp. 85 wolves don’t just appear…
“Keep walking.” I commanded, and his wolf complied.
“We were just going to make a little trouble until you came out, and he convinced me that it would be so easy.” He mumbled, though there was a small rage building inside me.
“Sir the camp’s just our mates and some pups.” Said a Rouge speaking up.
“Silence.” Growled one of my Warriors, but I would make myself clear.
“I came myself because I want to see all what was being hidden from me.” I growled like a wolf. It gave me a small headache, and I realized I could no longer feel the forest floor under my feet.
“Sir… Beta only did it because he thought we could handle it…” Said Warrior Commander Paul, running to catch up with me.
“How long Paul?” I asked turning to glare at him.
“About 2 weeks sir. At first, they were firmly on the other side until day before yesterday….” He mumbled, and I felt a pain in my chest. Ven had come back pissed…. shit.
