The Prisoner’s Princess Chapter 78
Isabelle
My mother’s silver eyes were filled with determination, but I would not allow it.
“No outfits on my lil muffins!” I screamed, throwing the sailor suits for puppies at her, which dad caught, and Caleb stole my baby Grace!
“Get the lil Muffins!” Screamed Mini, the traitor! We giggled, but I was a fearsome warrior, protecting what was mine from the future embarrassment of baby photos! Who would fear them now?!
I snarled while they laughed. “Sis calm down, it is only an outfit!” He chuckled, but my eyes were red.
“No No NO! This Will NOT DUE! They won’t like it!” I said trying to get back Grace, who was already in a little outfit now, and my uncle stole Tyson!
“Oh, my fucking Lady they are so cute! This is a family tradition going back centuries. Deal with it short stuff.” He giggled, and my pup didn’t seem to care….
I huffed…. They were cute.
I let them take the stupidly cute photos of my squirming 3 month old pups in little hats…. Their little blue-gray eyes were starting to turn green, meaning they would change soon. I wondered what color they would be… I wondered would they be like their father.
They could sort of walk now, though it was more of a determined crawl, but they were fast, and they loved to play. They were up five hours at a time now, and their little barks filled me with joy. I used them as my outlet for missing my mate, as the sting was not as harsh lately because of my grandmother… but they could not stay because they were busy.
My wolf was still sad and didn’t talk much, but we did enjoy shifting and hunting with my family to take my mind off it from time to time.
Zack and Uncle Jerold and Noah would visit on the weekends for meetings, and dad held the Prince’s Council meetings here to avoid leaving. They would be here soon, and they would see my babies in clothes.
The door rang, and the one human I wished didn’t see squealed running to them, scooping them all up. They were all 2 pounds apiece, so I could assume that was heavy for him.
“My Lady! Ah! They’re licking me! Yes! I love you too!” He giggled happily, along with my Uncle Jerold, who only shook his head.
“I thought you said you wouldn’t let anyone clothe them over your dead body?” He asked, holding Kaizen, who barked happily.
“…. Yeah but… Ok they’re really cute!” I admitted, getting their bottles ready. The nobles would be here soon, and I didn’t want them to judge. Also... I remember something happened to Noah when I was really little… and I didn’t trust them. Dad kept warriors in the house when they were here, and Noah wasn’t to leave Jerold’s side until after they left.
They were too big for their basket, but they followed me to the stairs. I would take them away from them, and I carried all three up the stairs with the help of my Uncle Connor, who would keep me company. He was also the protection, shifting in the house, but everyone understood.
I closed the door and let them play on the floor, while I put down fresh puppy pads in the bathroom. They went on it no problem, and they seemed to understand what I was saying somewhat. At least I liked to think as much….
Uncle Connor stayed as his wolf in my room, and played with the pups, but I wanted to hear what they were talking about… I just wish it wasn’t so dangerous.
Izzy stop looking at the wall, you know you can’t hear what they say downstairs. Kaiden said that Grahkes was drained again by grandfather, and that the Old Ones are stirring, but most worriedly Xaxas….. He linked me, and my eyes grew wide.
“Do you think it’s because Bryson is buried?” I asked, and he nodded
He bled a few drops of his awakened blood on the earth, and it was absorbed into the ground… but also, we may have to exhume him and burn his body. He linked and I gasped.
“Zack got it mopped up…. and he should be rotted by now!” I yelled, and he nodded, but he sniffed the air.
The Dragon Prince said that one drop was enough… and if they do that, it may make the Dark God upset, and the grass stopped growing around his grave. It looks like His mark.
“Why didn’t anyone tell me this?! I would worry anyway…” I said quietly and angrily.
“We thought to keep you from knowing a little while longer.” Growled dad, glaring at my uncle, who had my pup in his mouth. He was about to move them away from the dresser before they could discover they might be able to fit under it.
She should know! It was her mate, and she is the one who hurts for him everyday brother. He linked defensively.
“I know this is off topic… but they are very cute.” Said the Unicorn Prince Allister.
“I thought they would be bigger.” Said the Dragon Prince Saiyoken.
“Oh my lady, I came up here to be away from all of you. Out.” I growled. My wolf wanted to shift. They will not hurt my pups. She snarled, and I did with her. I felt bad for scaring Prince Allister, but the others were a threat.
“I knew you mongrels birthed… animals.” Said the Fea Princess, and I shifted instantly, lunging at her. She ran in fear and if it wasn’t for the dragon prince stopping me, she wouldn’t have a face.
“Why didn’t you stop her?! Control her!” She screamed at my father, who’s eyes were golden.
“You disrespect my grandchildren, and you expect me to stop my child.” He flicked her on the forehead, and she fell over. She shed one or two tears before she realized that my uncle stood golden eyed in front of my pups, and that she should leave. It felt good knowing that I would have backup.
“Leave.” Said Titus, my uncle’s wolf with crossed arms. He’d shifted to keep himself from killing her, and it looked like dad and my uncle struggled to control their wolves.
“We shall.” Said Saiyoken, glaring at everyone else, and let go of me so I could shift.
“I only came in here to tell Connor to knock it off.” Grumbled dad, who picked up all three of my pups, and kissed all of them on the head. He had gotten over there so quickly….
“Dad If you guys are going to burn my mate’s body… I want to see it.” I said somberly, and he nodded, putting down the pups.
“I intended on it Izzy…and don’t let that bitch get you down about your pups.” He said with a small smile. He patted me on the head, and left out. My uncle went into my brother’s old room to find something, and I threw on a black stretch dress.
-----Bryson-----
“Why are those outside this place so miserable?” I demanded, only to hear him chuckle.
“You forget this is a realm of punishment.” He said being served a small glass of water compared to his size, but he seemed fine with it. “I use my power to keep the souls from withering, by sapping the energy from the unrepentant, and throwing rotten souls of the black hearted into the Pit.” He said not answering my question. He sighed annoyed. “You have not eaten, nor drank since you got here, yet you are not weak or in poor condition. I cannot do much more for so many.” He said, handing me a slice of meat.
“What is this?” I asked suspiciously, getting fearful looks from the servants.
“This is from the tribute of my few worshipers…” He told me, and I reluctantly ate. “It is why the ‘Lord of Light’ enforces worship of me illegal. It is why I do not have the energy to part the clouds anymore for crops. He thinks it will weaken me, but the few followers I have are more faithful than a thousand of his.” He said with a grumble.
“I am sorry…” I told him, unable to think of anything to say.
“Do not sorrow for my plight my youngest. I have destroyed the world of man and beast three times, though now all the gods fear me, instead of having sympathy for my cause. It is my own doing. I know you walked the path to seek me, not hear the stories of your father. Speak.” He sipped his water, and put the empty glass on a platter. It was the size of a normal cup, but in his hands, it looked miniature…
“I wish to return… but I do not want to be your champion….” I said honestly, and he put his hand on my shoulder. I did not know how he got to me so fast.
“I will do this thing for you; I will give you one free life. However, if you die again…. You will be my champion and accept my blessing because you are mortal, as I cannot revive you again without a price.” He said seriously. No. I do not trust this! said my wolf, who shook at sensing the might of a god. I ignored him; he was right… but our mate needed us. We were still out of sync… but I would deal with that when we revived.
“I accept.” I said standing up, and shaking hands with my father, who smiled gently.
“Go son, though you will not feel whole for a small time since you have been dead a while.” He whispered, because though my wolf said nothing, he cowered on his belly in my mind.
I felt like I did the moment I died, and collapsed on the floor at my father’s feet… I felt pain. I was scared. I had never really felt these things before in my life, yet now I knew what they were. I knew now why wolves in life groveled at my feet begging me to show mercy. They did not want to feel this. They were afraid that this was what I would do to them.
