I woke up to the sounds of running and snarls. I ran out the tent, seeing the organized chaos. Bryson was already awake, and the women and children were being ushered into the tent where they held meetings, but I was late to the knowledge of this. The pack was under attack just now by the seems of it. There were howls of warning in the brisk morning air, and I was rushed, with a hand on my back, pushing me to the tent of scared females.

“My Luna! We need you safe with the women and children!” Shouted Warrior Commander Paul

“No! I’m needed with my mate!” I said not caring who saw me strip, then shift into my Beta male sized wolf. He was shocked to say the least, but he ran with me. I was a black furred, red eyed wolf of might by my own right.

There are at least 40 wolves attacking Luna. They seemed to be cocky that they would overtake the pack. They were not expecting Alpha’s new numbers. They weren’t expecting Us. Linked Paul proudly as his large gray wolf. he was smaller than me by the smallest bit, but he was muscular, and I could see the outline of them through his fur.

We ran to where the other warriors held the line, and there were wolves reared on their back legs fighting to protect their home. It wasn’t much…. But it was ours and damnit I wasn’t going to let anyone take what is ours. I howled a deathly rumble, and it was responded immediately by Bryson’s, who had 6 wolves tag teaming him.

I rushed to his side, but I was stopped short by two wolves who wished to fight me. The tan one reared on his legs, but I weighed more, so I pinned him, and I got him on the leg, shaking it until I heard a crunch. His friend helped him before I could kill him. He snapped at my face. I dodged him, but I charged forward, almost getting him by the back leg. He snarled loudly, and seemed to be the leader of their band. He held his head high and let out a howl for aid.

Kill his female. I heard in a common mind link, and I knew they meant me.

Try and Best Me Cowards, but I swear by the Lady’s Ever Changing Light I will have my mate fashion you all into a mighty flag. I snarled from deep within my chest. I couldn’t snarl as deep or loud as Bryson being a woman, but it was ten times more than what those bums could muster.

The wolves that tried to tag team me were uncoordinated, but they soon had help. A black wolf and a reddish wolf both came to their aid, and soon I was fighting 4 against 1, but half of them were injured. They limped as they charged me, making the two I already injured easy to dodge, but the others were using them as a distraction. I yelped when one got me by the ear, but let go when I almost got him by his paw.

Protect my Luna! Linked Bryson, and I could see that with one bite, he had broken the ribs of a brown wolf, and he tossed him to the side like he was nothing. His snarls were from deep within his chest, and I could feel the rage that burned in his heart.

Soon the 4 wolves multiplied to 7, and I was unable to keep up with so many biting mouths at me. I spun like a ballerina, and ran, allowing them to chase me until I heard the deathly snarls of warriors who were free to aid me. I was being hunted like a rabbit by at least 10 of them now, and there was no way that I would be able to kill them all… I didn’t regret my choice, I just needed to think. I just needed enough space to fight 2 at a time… 5 times.

I felt one of them jump on my back, and he had enough force to push me to the ground. This was it; I was about to die in this fight, I thought to myself. I was soon pinned by 3 other wolves so they could hold me down, but before he could shake and break my spine, I felt someone pluck them off me like they were nothing.

Bryson and Zack, covered in countless wolves themselves, aided me with Paul so I could get up. Together we made a back to back circle, fighting the swarm of wolves until there was a howl for retreat, and all who weren’t injured ran away. They made no attempt to save their comrades, and I held no pity on them for what my mate would do to them.

But my mate was still enraged. It was enough to nearly taste.

He shifted, and it caused others around us to shift. The glare he gave me could slice meat, and it made me shift on reflex. “Take the living to the meeting tent. I want information.” He commanded to Paul, who swiftly left the red eyed gaze of my mate. His eyes swiftly darted back to me, flashing black, but staying red. “You disrespect me by being here, little Isabelle.” He growled. He picked me up, and wiped the small amount of blood from my ear, then checked to see if I was hurt. I was fine, the only thing hurt was my pride.

He had legitimately growled at me, for something that was my right. An anger boiled in me, and without thinking I squared my shoulders when he put me down. “I protect the pack. I am strong as any man here.” I growled back, showing my fangs. I had blocked out Glitter, her complaints would not be heard right now.

He was within touch’s reach, and towered over me. His hostile presence would have anyone else in full submission on their hands and knees, but I would not. “You do not scare me.” I snarled, but he remained silent. “I am not some … some fragile, weak, and scared she wolf who hides from danger. I cannot do that. I can’t be that” I said with conviction.

“You only wish to prove yourself, but this isn’t CharredMoon, they aren’t pack wolves, and this isn’t a fucking game.” He snarled.

I slapped his face, and he stood there. He pursed his lips, then they curled showing his fangs.

It was dead silent. I didn’t mean to do it… but that was a sore spot that he jabbed into. “I will not be treated like a gods damned pup. I did it because I wanted to help You. I can’t just sit back and watch you die!” I scream, and he took a deep breath. The low growl he emitted made the back of my hair stand on end.

“Yet it was Me who almost watched You die. I do not care why you have done this. I care that you feel you’d rather get yourself killed than listen to my orders. I care that you do not see that You were their target. You are not weak, but this was not your place. Your place was in that tent, until the threat was gone.” He sneered. His eyes were getting darker by the second, and I wasn’t sure if I was taking on the man, or the beast.

“My place is where I please. I am no bitch, I am Luna.” I snarled, but this time his snarl made me take two steps back. Glitter submitted completely, making it hard to stand my ground anymore.

“Your place is where I say it is, and right now you should probably leave, before it is on your knees, little Isabelle.” He snarled aggressively, taking a firm step forward. He was fighting his wolf, since I had challenged him. He wanted to force me into submission, and I took that as my cue to leave. I can’t fight Ven. He is an animal, and thinks like one. To him, I was disrespecting. I was, but I didn’t care.

“Pig headed lichen licker.” I grumbled loud enough for him to hear.

------Bryson------

I wish to share words with our mate. Snarled my lying wolf in my head. I took out my frustration on the closest non-wolf thing I could. I clawed a tree. The explosion of the impact put a few splinters in my hand, making it bleed, but I didn’t care. Denied. I said firmly. He made me say shit to her I can’t take back. I felt so infuriated, conflicted, and she made it worse by being so defiant… how can she not see that I just want her safe.

She almost died. I would have had to watch it.

I had never felt a fear so strong… I had never longed to smell her scent or have her touch to prove that she was still here, but I ruined that. But I was also right. Her place was in that tent, with the other females. There were all battle-experienced men out there on the battlefield, and thank the Lady she only got her ear bit, and a few scratches.

Let me show her she cannot best a man. He snarled. He was half right. She can’t best me, but she held her own with good instincts until she was swarmed. She can take 2 small wolves at once no problem… but out here this is the real world. Out here, no one is going to wait patiently for you to kill their pack mates, Rouge or not.

Ven right now we have other things we need to do. I said to him, fighting for control. I won, because I would not allow him to be too rough with her in our anger.

“Alpha, the conscious ones should be able to talk.” Said Warrior Commander Paul, who I was also mad at, as his job was to put my mate with the rest… but she probably ran past him and didn’t listen.
