Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 101: Chap-101*Accused Of Poisoning My Alpha Mate.*
**Cynthia Dion: **
I observed her approaching, and she gazed at me as though I'd taken something of hers. She had an intense look on her face, and she huffed before slamming her bottle onto the ground and standing upright to speak with me.
"What on earth are you doing in my mate's house?" she yelled, causing me to nod to confirm that I'd heard her correctly.
"I apologize, but did you just mention your mate?" I asked with a sly smile, "Because the last time I checked, he had a mate bond with me." I didn't want to pick a fight with her over Enzo, but her sassy attitude provoked me into arguing with her.
"Huh! So now you want to stake your claim on him? Has stealing Maleeka's mate not satisfied your appetite?" Her haughty tone signaled her intense dislike for me. She stood there, talking down to me as if I were a repugnant creature, when in reality, she had been involved with everyone's mates.
"And you're the one interrogating me? Weren't you involved with both of my mates? So, who's the real thief here?" I asked without a hint of fear. It was astonishing how I used to be so frightened of them, but after living with Mr. Holt, I'd encountered the worst kind of person. These little coyotes didn't scare me anymore.
"How dare you!" she hissed, moving closer, "you've got some nerve coming here and questioning my character." She then proceeded to grab my face with her hand, causing me to grunt and respond by pushing her hand away.
Before she could escalate the situation, Enzo rushed out of the mansion and intervened swiftly, positioning himself between us.
"How the hell are you still in one piece after assassinating my character?" She screamed as she tried to reach me. I could tell she was furious with Enzo for not hurting me and for allowing me to remain there.
"Rosalie, what the heck are you doing?" Enzo began to push her away as she persisted in her attempts to attack me.
"Why are you stopping me? You know what she said--," she began to argue with Enzo, clearly baffled that he wasn't taking action against me on her behalf.
"I don't care what she said, Rosalie. You might have provoked her as well. So, don't pretend like you're all innocent," Enzo shouted, finally putting an end to her frenzy.
She stood still and took a step back, observing Enzo, who was now defending me or, at the very least, not attacking me for her.
"Really? Why are you acting like she's your friend?" She asked him, looking confused. "You used to dislike her, remember?"
"No, Rosalie, you're the one who dislikes her. I have nothing to do with her. In fact, why did you claim we're mates with her? Did I ever agree to that, or did we ever discuss accepting each other?" Enzo's way of silencing her wasn't that of an arrogant guy breaking an innocent girl's heart; it felt deeply personal. She must have done something to hurt him this much.
"You're upset, and this is your way of punishing me, I understand," she nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. She didn't seem like she was about to cry; it was just the exhaustion that was showing in her eyes in the form of mist.
"Don't get too excited. Soon enough, he'll come around to agreeing with me again--," she disregarded his presence and spoke as if he wasn't listening.
"By the way, does your husband know you're here?" This was her way of retaliating against me. I understood that Enzo siding with me had hurt her, and now she wanted to make me pay for it.
I flinched, and I'm sure Enzo noticed because he let out a groan in response to Rosalie's threat.
"You won't discuss her being here with anyone, got it?" Enzo warned her once more, and her gaze shifted from me to him.
"You're wrong for doing this to me," now that he had made it clear he was protecting me, she felt wretched, and she didn't hold back from showing it.
"Rosalie! Atticus is in a bad way, and I don't want to argue with you about anything right now," Enzo cautioned her. The mere mention of Atticus caused her to part her lips and release a shocked sigh.
"Atticus? What happened to him? Is he here?" She started to panic, swallowing hard and keeping her eyes fixed on Enzo's face for answers. I didn't know what had occurred, but for a brief moment, I saw a deep hurt in Enzo's eyes.
"Now you're back to your senses," Enzo chuckled lightly, and I began to grasp the situation. Rosalie's attachment to Atticus was getting to Enzo.
"What? He's my friend and my mate," she emphasized that last word forcefully, making eye contact with me.
"Where is he?" she continued to ask Enzo, who simply pointed toward his mansion and remained silent. She didn't linger either. Within seconds, she was already sprinting into the mansion to see Atticus, while I was still standing there, freezing my butt off.
"She won't tell anyone," Enzo reassured me, though he didn't look in my direction. "Here! Put this on," he added, taking off his own jacket and handing it to me.
"Instead of turning down the offer and acting stubborn, consider your own safety and comfort and put it on," he didn't even allow me to argue and thrust the brown jacket into my arms.
Since he didn't leave, I anticipated that he had something to say to me, and I was correct. Once I had the jacket on, he tilted his head and asked me, "Have you been preparing meals for Atticus?"
I furrowed my brow at his question before shaking my head.
"No! The maids handle the cooking. Why do you ask?" I inquired in bewilderment.
"Atticus has been poisoned," the revelation about what had been happening to Atticus shook the ground beneath my feet.
