**Cynthia Dion:**

As soon as I heard those hurtful remarks, I made my escape. I quickly pushed his hand away and stood up. He grunted and tried to grab my hand to stop me, but I had already rushed off towards the restroom and locked myself inside.

"Cynthia, come out! You're going to regret this!" he yelled, pounding on the door with anger until I heard a tap on the bedroom door. I believe he turned away to see who he had disturbed at this late hour.

"What?" he demanded in an enraged tone.

"Is she okay?" I overheard him say, "I'm coming," as he hurried out of the room and locked the door behind him. He sounded concerned when talking to someone.

I had no idea what had just happened, but it was confirmed that he had left the room.

I questioned whether my action was brave, considering that I knew if he was capable of harming his unborn child, he might also be capable of harming me.

I didn't feel like leaving the restroom, and I stood by the door, unsure if it was a ploy to lure me out. I had many questions, all triggered by the mark on his neck. I had seen that mark before but never truly understood it until recently, when I came across it in a book.

"You can come out now. He's gone," Atticus's voice reassured me.

When I realized it was Atticus outside the door and not Mr. Holt, it brought a small sense of relief. I decided to reveal myself to him, leaning back and pushing the door open with my hand.

Atticus was sitting on the sofa, reading my school notebook, when I emerged from the restroom.

"He left?" I inquired, looking around. He must have, because otherwise, Atticus wouldn't be sitting here so calmly.

"No!" He rolled his eyes at me and searched through my school backpack for Mr. Holt, saying, "He's right here."

"Oh, my God!" I sighed in relief as I closed my eyes.

"What happened? Why was he pounding on your bathroom door like that?" Atticus set the notepad aside and asked, his eyes enquiringly observing my features.

"He wanted to do stuff with me," I was honest and said, but his expression altered. He didn’t like what he was hearing, and did he really think that Mr. Holt would marry me and then not expect to have intercourse with me?

He avoided making eye contact in order to conceal his interest and unease in this subject and asked, "And you didn’t let him touch you?"

I repeated what I had said earlier, "I've told you before, I didn't choose to marry him.”

"Did you distract him?" The atmosphere between us grew uneasy, but I gathered the courage to ask.

"Yeah, actually, it was Maleeka." He explained that Maleeka had heard him threatening me, so she called him and told a maid that she wasn't feeling well and wanted her mate beside her. That's how my life was saved tonight. Thanks to Maleeka once again.

"I don't know how having that person beside her will ever make her feel better, but--" he paused when something clicked in his head, "I have this folder on his phone. If by any chance you know the passcode to any of his accounts, it would be very helpful." He stood up and walked over to me, showing me the screen of his phone.

"This folder might contain information we need to understand his plans." He pointed to a password-protected secret folder, which made me wonder why he thought Mr. Holt would ever share his credentials with me.

"I don't know anything about his passwords," I informed him, but for a moment, I got distracted as my gaze lingered on his attractive physique.

I commented, noticing his gaze pausing as he scrolled through Zeon's phone, "If only you had asked me all these questions before, I wouldn't be stuck with this crazy person, and I wouldn't be married to this lunatic."

"I made a terrible mistake," he admitted, but that didn't change the fact that his mistake had caused me a great deal of suffering.

“Your terrible mistake landed me in a huge mess,” I scoffed and noticed that he lowered his head to take a deep sigh. I didn’t know how one could ever redeem themselves after something this evil?

But at least Atticus claimed to have a reason. I didn’t get the reason behind Mr. Holt’s insanity. He was out of his mind and utterly evil.

Now that he knew he would be questioned about his actions again, he said, "I'll just keep trying to unlock this folder. There must be more information in here."

He stood awkwardly for a moment when I remarked, "Congratulations to your friend. She won today."

"Cynthia, she won't trouble you at school," he appeared genuinely concerned.

"It's okay, really. She does it because she dislikes me for hurting you and your sister," I managed a weak smile as I reminded him that he had been present when Rosalie had struck me and had excused it by claiming it was because she cared about Atticus and Maleeka.

He didn’t say anything and left the room. At least I was allowed some time to relax without anyone wishing to put their hands between my legs.

My eyes were fixed on the door as I dozed off in bed. What if I’m asleep and Mr. Holt returns? I will be in a terrible mood.

I eventually fell asleep with all these worries and thoughts swirling in my mind. When I woke up a bit too early in the morning, Mr. Holt hadn't returned to the room yet.

I quickly dressed in a blue dress for the day and left the room before I had a chance to be alone with Mr. Holt.

I thought he wouldn't dare to do anything odd if I were around the maids, Maleeka, and Atticus.

So that was the plan: I would leave the room before he arrived.
