Cynthia Dion:

"What are you doing here?" I furrowed my brow to question his unexpected arrival. His body language remained composed, and his expressions didn't reveal his true intentions. He had come over to put me in an embarrassing situation.

"I came to talk to you about what went down two days ago," with his words, I realized I'd been in a coma for two days.

"What's on your mind?" I didn't even take a seat when he offered me one. I didn't feel comfortable sitting down with any of them anymore.

"I wanted to say sorry for jumping to conclusions about you hurting her," he said, moving a couple of steps closer to the couch I was standing behind. "Thanks for what you did for Rosalie. Cynthia, I don't think anyone else could've pulled it off," he said, his eyes welling up with tears.

"I just can't fathom how? I mean, with your...," he struggled to find the right words, so I stepped in to assist.

"Wickedness?" I grinned, biting my lip to steady them from trembling.

"Considering all the things you've done, no one would expect you to do this for anyone, especially for your mate's former partner," he remarked calmly as he took a seat. "Please sit down; you shouldn't be on your feet for too long," he gestured toward the couch, and I complied, feeling a growing sense of weariness.

"Just be upfront with me. When are you planning to reject me?" I inquired, and he nodded in agreement.

"Soon, once you've healed," it was evident from the start that he never held any affection for me.

"Atticus really cares for you, Cynthia. Why do you keep hurting him?" He didn't appear to be mocking me; his concern seemed genuine.

"Hmm! I'll answer that once I understand what I've supposedly done wrong," I chuckled, mocking them for their constant accusations, as if they had concrete evidence or had witnessed me harm someone.

"Cynthia! You mentioned to him that you've lost your wolf?" When he posed that question, a knot formed in my stomach.

He spilled my secrets to him?

"Seems like someone's been spreading the word," I quipped, feeling foolish for ever thinking he wouldn't reveal my truth.

"No, he told me after you disappeared," Enzo appeared to be the only one willing to speak plainly without any filters or snide comments.

"I disappeared?" I arched my eyebrow, now intrigued since my presence wasn't being ridiculed.

"Yeah, after you left with Mr. Holt for your honeymoon, you vanished. It was as if everyone deliberately kept it from Atticus, knowing he'd show up in court to rescue you. Plus, he was involved in some cleansing ritual here," Enzo drifted off into his memories. "When he woke up, he was frantically searching everywhere for you," he smirked at his friend's foolishness.

"He didn't confide in you about how much he hurt me?" I raised an eyebrow. If he was going to tell me how much Atticus loved me, I should let him in on what Atticus had put me through.

"After all you've been through, trust me, he's been very kind to you. If there was someone else involved, he'd have dealt with them harshly," Enzo wasn't wrong, but the accusations against me were misplaced. They were punishing the wrong person without any evidence.

"By the way, why did you fib about your wolf?" He asked gently. It was clear he felt grateful to me for saving Rosalie's life, and he was willing to engage with me politely even though his mind still held the belief that I was a malevolent individual.

"I didn't lie to him. It's true that I didn't have my wolf until I lost my bab---y," I kept my hands in my lap and averted my gaze.

"Cynthia! You're still not being honest," he sighed in disappointment. "I get that people perceive you as evil, but after what you did for Rosalie, I'm starting to think something has hurt you so deeply that you've chosen to become this person," it was kind of him to give me a chance to tell the truth, but unfortunately, he wasn't ready to accept my truth.

"Enzo, I have no reason to lie. I never had my wolf until recently," I asserted, meeting his gaze directly to emphasize my sincerity.

"How can that be, when you've displayed your wolf several times before?" He mused aloud, managing to pique my interest.

"I've shown my wolf?" I was baffled by when I could have possibly revealed my wolf to him.

"Don't you recall the competition? That one fight where you had to collect the balls?" He recollected a distant memory, and I nodded in recognition.

"Oh, that was all me. I don't know how, but I managed to outperform them," which likely led to their confusion because while the others allowed their wolves to use their strength, I couldn't win without my wolf.

"No, Cynthia! It was your wolf," he locked eyes with me, and when he noticed my confusion, he pulled his cellphone from his pocket to show me something.

"Take a look at this; one of the students recorded it for the school's report. You can see yourself here," he said, displaying a video of me running with my eyes emitting a different color.

A shiver of cold ran up and down my spine. I was left wide-eyed, my lips slightly parted, feeling appalled.

"Enzo! This... can't be possible," I protested, shaking my head and averting my gaze from the video.

"It's right here," he tapped the screen with his finger and then sighed. "I hope someday you'll come to understand how difficult it is for Atticus to endure all of this and still return to protect you. Consider what you'd do if you discovered someone had even thought about harming your sister. Then think of Atticus. He watched his sister suffer because of you, yet he keeps coming back to help you, only to be let down each time," he said, lowering his voice as he spoke.

I was utterly shaken by what I had just witnessed. Thea had been there with me from the start. Why hadn't I been aware of her? Why hadn't I known about her?

"I'll leave you alone now. Rest for a while, and please reflect on what I've told you," Enzo said, rising from his seat after a sigh and heading toward the door.

"Ah!" His gasp when he opened the door made me turn my head in the direction of his mother entering.

"What on earth was happening in here? Why was the door locked?" She yelled, pushing her son aside to reach me.

"What have you done to my son?" She shrieked and was about to strike me when Enzo stepped in between, guiding her to the side.

"Mom! Nothing happened. I came here to speak to her," he was trying to tell his mother, who was ready to transition and tear me apart.

"No! She must have seduced you into fulfilling her desires. That slut doesn’t even care about losing her chance of getting pregnant again. All she wants is sex!" She was screaming and crying, "Tell me you didn’t fuck my son? Tell me you don’t plan to get pregnant with his child?" She was calling me names and saying things that I had heard before but never got used to.

I leaped to my feet, shocked at how disgusted she was just at the thought of her son sleeping with me.

"Mom!" Enzo raised his voice at his mother in disbelief.

"What? just because she saved your mate doesn’t mean you have to pay her back like this," she said, pushing her son away, ready to pounce at me. "I am going to call Atticus and tell him everything. He cannot dump this mud here," she cleaned her tears and stormed out of the room to call Atticus and probably say more stuff about me.

"Mom! That is not true," Enzo rushed after her while I was left on my own now.
