Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 165: Chap-165*These People Are Crazy*
Cynthia Dion:
"Well, if you've finished your daydreaming, could you please go? I need some rest," I raised my eyebrow, keeping a watchful eye on him, signaling for him to let me be, as I had no interest in his games.
"Give it some thought," he mumbled, trying to draw my attention back to that specific point.
"Shut the door behind you when you go," I sighed, opting not to engage with him. I can't help but wonder why I used to be so terrified of him. Maybe now that I have a wolf, I'm not as frightened, but back then, everyone appeared like a complete nightmare to me.
"That's why you're going through all this hardship, because you don't heed your old man," my father grumbled as he exited the room.
'At least you've found your voice again,' Thea commended, and soon I drifted off to sleep. I'd formulated some ideas before dozing off, and a big part of them revolved around locating my sister's whereabouts.
Maybe she'll attempt to get in touch with me once she realizes I've returned home?
I was taking a rest when some commotion from outside caught my attention. My body still felt weary, so my initial inclination was to disregard it. Such disturbances weren't uncommon. Our neighbors often quarreled, and I had grown somewhat immune to the ruckus. However, my disinterest waned when I started hearing the noises from right outside my room.
I rose to my feet and made my way toward the source of the commotion, fearing that my father might have gotten into some kind of trouble. For some inexplicable reason, my heart was racing within my chest. As soon as I reached the door, I discerned the cause of all the commotion.
"How can you let her stay here? She is a slut who has stolen mates. She shouldn’t be here; she needs to be thrown out of here," It was Mara’s father. He was shouting at my father, and many others were agreeing with him.
"Back off; the Alpha has ordered me to take care of her," My father was too afraid of Atticus. He was probably blocking the door and preventing them from entering.
"She must have seduced him. Once she is gone, he will forget about her and be loyal to his true mate," they all shouted, ready to drag me out.
His true mate? Were they calling Mara his true mate?
Mara has been nothing but a darn mate thief from the beginning. She first got involved with Enzo and then pursued Atticus. She was hell-bent on securing a powerful mate, no matter what.
"She's my daughter! I won't allow anyone to harm her," my father yelled, but then his cry pierced the air, and I realized they had injured him.
"Dad!" Just because he was my father, I couldn't bear to see him face all of this alone. I flung open the door and rushed out, only to find him sprawled on the ground with blood oozing from his head.
"Get inside and escape through the window," my father shouted once more, struggling to get back on his feet, but they knocked him down once again.
"Hey, step away from my fat---," my authoritative tone choked in my throat as soon as I noticed the ropes they were holding, along with the presence of alcohol. I swiftly grasped their intentions upon spotting a lighter in someone's hand.
"What in the world are you doing?" Panic surged through me almost immediately. "Put those things dow---," I gasped when they advanced toward me, and one of them injected something into me.
Wolfbane!
I was moving a little too slowly because I was afraid of hurting my body, but now there was no way out. I wondered why these people were so cruel.
'Keep your distance,' Thea cried, struggling to assert control as we were now dealing with wolfbane in our system. She was still battling to take charge, but it meant risking everything we had fought so hard to hold onto.
I was starting to believe that I didn't have a safe haven. When I stayed at Atticus' mansion, I was in peril due to his family, and now this. That's when I heard a familiar voice trying to break through the commotion.
"Hey! What's going on here?" Jack attempted to enter the house but was shoved back by his mother. Dizziness was beginning to overwhelm me, and they took advantage of my vulnerable state.
"Stay clear of this chaos. Protecting her will land you in hot water too," his mother hollered at him. She was a willing participant in this enraged mob and eagerly anticipating harm befalling me.
"Mom! How can you be involved in this? Don't you remember, she grew up here? We all know how---," I heard Jack trying to reason with his mother, but she became incensed with him and forcefully pushed him out of the house.
"Slut! You like being fucked? Let’s see how you can take all these dicks," Mara’s father, whom I used to call my uncle, was the first one to get inside the room, with many other men behind him.
"Set her on fire so that this is her last night getting dicks," they threw me on the bed and locked the door from the inside.
I watched them gather around my bed through my blurred vision, and, sadly enough, I couldn’t even lift my body to fight back.
"This all comes to a halt tonight. You've destroyed numerous relationships and taken mates. Tonight is the end of it all," Mara's father leaned over me, lightly patting my cheek as he muttered into my face.
I never imagined these people harbored so much hatred towards me.
"Your son phoned the Alpha," a voice suddenly reverberated throughout the room. I recognized it as Jack's neighbor addressing his father.
"What?" they all shouted in unison, panic evident in their voices.
"He's en route, and he's none too pleased," the man continued to inform them about Atticus.
"We're in deep trouble; once he arrives, it's curtains for us," Mr. York exclaimed, slapping his forehead in despair.
"Wait! What did my son say to him?" Jack's father inquired of the neighbor, who likely overheard the conversation between Jack and Atticus. I lay there helplessly, awaiting a grim turn of events.
That's when it dawned on me that they were not about to cease their actions.
