It wasn't easy for Eva to hide the mate bond and her feelings for Zeon, especially with Maleeka, the mean girl, clinging to him all the time.

"Sure! Who else is coming?" Zeon didn’t want to be alone with Maleeka at home. He felt it would be unfair to Eva that he was spending time with his girl best friend alone.

"Millie and others," Maleeka stated, and Zeon nodded his head.

Later that evening, everybody gathered at Maleeka’s huge mansion, where they usually partied and had fun since she was the richest among them. They had everything--food, games, and luxuries, though no alcohol.

Zeon had walked out of the gathering, feeling like he couldn't stop thinking about Eva. His mind was elsewhere, and even Maleeka noticed it. He never looked so bored among them. Usually, he loved the attention and luxuries Maleeka would provide, but something had changed in him now.

He kept staring at his selfie with Eva from their first date night. There was a smile on his lips while staring at his phone’s screen when Maleeka walked out of her mansion to find him in the garden.

"Zeon!" she called out, carrying a smile across her lips and marching toward him. Zeon sneakily shoved his phone into his pocket and passed her a weak smile.

"Why are you here? Are you not having fun inside?" Maleeka sensed that something was off with Zeon.

"It's not like that. I am just tired tonight," he whispered, scratching his forehead and avoiding eye contact.

"I know what can cheer you up," Maleeka snickered, holding his hand and dragging him to the parking lot.

"What are we doing here?" Zeon raised his brow in confusion, expecting her to suggest a long drive, but he had no idea she was going to offer him an even grander gesture. He had noticed that she had been getting very clingy lately. She wouldn’t even give him any space even if he wanted.

"Whichever car you lay your finger on is yours," she chuckled, and Zeon’s eyes widened in surprise.

"What, no! Maleeka, that will be too much," he almost let out an awkward laugh, feeling like it was some sort of joke.

"I am serious. Whichever thing you lay your finger on will be yours," as she repeated herself. Her friends had come out to join them in the parking lot.

"Wow! He is so lucky," one of the guys whispered to his mate, making his mate feel insecure because she couldn’t shower him with luxuries like Maleeka.

"Are you sure?" Zeon asked, just to be sure. This was a huge deal for him. Ever since he was little, he had dreamt of buying his own car and house, and tonight he had just achieved one.

"Zeon! I promise. You can pick whatever car and it will be yours," she said while nodding her head sweetly. As Zeon chose a car excitedly, Maleeka was now certain how she would have him for herself and kick that poor girl out of his life. He was in shock but also expressed gratitude because it was the most someone had ever done for him.

The next day, Maleeka and Zeon arrived in the same car. Since Zeon was turning 17 in two days, Maleeka had decided to give him a driver and a guard until then.

He had never felt that way before. It was like his life had taken a turn for the best. And if he wanted to continue feel this way, he needed to make sure Maleeka was happy.

As the two got out of the car together, Eva saw Zeon smiling and not hesitating to hold Maleeka’s hand. She had heard rumors that Maleeka might have gifted him this car, and after that, she sort of dreaded losing Zeon. That was the same day when Zeon didn’t even spare a glance at Eva. He was too occupied hearing about his birthday preparations from Maleeka.

She has invited everybody to her mansion for his 17th birthday, and that’s all he could ask for. At the same time, Eva wanted to contact him and ask him out for dinner on his birthday, but it wasn’t something he was looking for. He wasn’t sure how to break Eva’s heart because it was clear in his mind that he would much want to attend Maleeka’s party than Eva’s.

It was all he had ever wanted in his life and Maleeka was able to fulfil his wishes very easily.

"Hey," Zeon said, attending Eva’s call after she had been ringing his phone countless times.

"Hi, I have been calling you forever," Eva was lying in her old, rusty home, but at least she was comfortable.

"Yeah! I was a little busy," Zeon scratched the back of his neck and cleared his throat.

“Oh! are you free now?” she didn’t want to bother him. She could talk to him later.

“Sort of,” he mumbled, keeping his voice lowered. He was beginning to realize many things and they were not going to look good for Eva.

"So what is it?" he inquired, trying to murmur because he was in a mall where Maleeka was buying some suits for his birthday. It was an elite birthday party, so she had decided to give him a makeover.

"I wanted to invite you to dinner. It will be my gift to you for your 17th birthday," she wanted to celebrate his birthday.

"Umm--," Zeon paused as he looked between his cellphone and Maleeka, making a decision to pick one, and then he did.

“What happened? Why are you so silent?” she asked when his response lacked enthusiasm and any proper reaction. She was expecting him to be looking forward to spending his birthday with her. But clearly, it wasn’t like that.

"I am sorry! I can’t be available, but thank you," with those dry words, he hung up the call on her face. Eva was left shocked, but she kind of knew this was going to happen. She just didn’t know it would happen so soon.
