"I was just checking up on her," I calmly explained, though I'd recently discovered my innocence wasn't crystal clear.

"You don’t need to do that. I am here for that," he responded sternly, and who could blame him?

"I'll be in my room." Maleeka, uninterested in sticking around, left us in an awkward silence, walking away without her mate and heading straight to her room.

"I wasn’t trying to hurt her or anything," I felt compelled to justify my presence.

"It doesn’t matter," he muttered.

I understand my wolf played a part, but there's more to the story. Mr. Holt had subjected me to terrible things. How can he look me in the eye and place the blame solely on me?

"I know it doesn’t matter to you," I said, locking eyes with him, "since you always find a way to pull the strings." After what I had learned earlier, I wasn’t sure how I could ever outsmart this malicious man.

"Well, I have my ways around," he said, wearing a fake smile that soon turned into a genuine smirk. "So, what happened to your friend? Did she decide to leave Atticus alone?" His voice dripped with mockery. He relished watching the chaos unfold, reveling as people burned in the fire while he sat back and enjoyed the spectacle.

"Why don’t you contact her and ask for yourself?" I smirked back, but mine carried a hint of anger.

"Ah! I am not interested in Omegas," he dismissed, thinking that would be enough to belittle me. I knew he was desperate for any romantic encounter he could get, and now he was boasting in front of me.

"Yet, you somehow find yourself between the omegas. You are definitely not charming, then what is it?" as I asked that question, he scoffed and clenched his jaw.

"Oh come on, you didn't think of yourself as this perfect man that girl's die to be with, right?" I continued and his expressions hardened.

"I am not sure about the others, but you---you did fall in love with me. Enough to send me very scandalous texts to arouse me," he smirked again like a fool.

He had managed to get under my skin, and just as I felt the urge to raise my hand to him, I heard Maleeka calling for him.

"Zeon! I am waiting for you." Now that I knew she was watching, I refrained from doing anything, recognizing that hurting Mr. Holt would hurt her.

He walked past me happily while I turned around to rush back to my room. I needed to speak to Thea and find out what was going on and how she ended up listening to him.

‘Thea! I know you didn’t do anything on purpose,’ I said in a panic. I was still upset about what Mr. Holt had told me outside.

‘Please talk to me and let me know what material he used to blackmail you.’ Until she reveals what led her to listen to him, I can't consider any other course of action. I tried to calm my tone so that she would feel comfortable opening up to me.

I recall Mr. Holt giving me lessons, but it didn't start there. The text messages date back quite a bit, but the video calls and voice recordings began after I joined the academy.

So, does that mean someone else was texting Mr. Holt?

‘Thea, please, let us know so that we can fight evil together and even prove your innocence,’ I spoke to her with kindness this time. I didn’t want her to freak out and avoid me when I needed her.

‘You didn’t show up when I needed you before. Now is your time to redeem yourself and help me. I need you, Thea!’ Recalling the past, she understood she owed me this much.

‘No matter what we do, we can never prove that Zeon Holt was behind everything. I look guilty because we were used in those videos.’ Now that she was talking, she piqued my interest, making me think that perhaps she was innocent.

‘Tell me from the start what happened and how he convinced you?’ I asked er very calmly, and she began to speak.

‘It was back when Dad used to take us to his academy. He would say that he had some work with Zeon, but instead, he was taking us to get manipulated by Zeon. He started telling me ways to gain control in those few hours, but instead, he took control over me when he injected something into you. Cynthia! After that, I wasn’t myself, and I wasn’t a part of you either. I would only wake up at his call, and then he would tell me how to control my body and what to do. I knew what he was asking for, but I had no control over saying no. Your body and mine belonged to him. He made us do all those things, and I just followed him like a puppet. You have no idea how much I suffered whenever I tried to break free from his control. It was like a transition happening 24/7 until he summoned me.
