As he embraced me once more, I began to scream at the top of my voice. Flora's lifeless form was swathed in a blanket and completely gone. I can't even say it was recently placed here. It must have been months and months ago. It was my sister; she had been here all this time, and I had slept right above her.

"He didn't allow them to set me or the house ablaze because he feared someone might come to extinguish the fire and discover this," I sobbed and quivered, screaming until my lungs ached.

"Cynthia, please, try to calm down," he knew that saying that wouldn't achieve much, as this wasn't the right moment for me to settle.

"He will face the consequences," Atticus said as he released the hug and grasped my arms, locking eyes with me, causing my tears to cease immediately.

"I'm such a terrible sis--ter," I murmured, tears streaming down my face as I drifted into a daze. "She must have been so unhappy," I felt as if my heart might cease beating at any moment.

"I wonder how he ended her life? And then he---he came here seeking assistance," I mumbled, realizing that no one probably assaulted him. It was all his own scheme to move in and relish the comforts.

"HE TOOK MY SISTER'S LIFE AND THEN HAD THE NERVE TO THINK HE COULD RELISH A QUIET, PEACEFUL LIFE?" I yelled as I broke free from Atticus's hold and began to stride away.

I truly wished he wouldn't detain me, but he didn't. He spun around to summon his guards and apprise them of the situation, but I had already set off on foot to return to the mansion. I'm not even sure why I didn't take the car, but I just walked away.

The neighbors were already outside, eavesdropping on the commotion.

"What?" I halted right in the midst of it all, shooting them an angry glare. "What are you gawking at now? There's nothing left in there. Those two young girls are---ar---re all shattered. I endured torment after torment for something I didn't do, while you all, dirty-mouthed folks, just spread baseless rumors. You accused an 18-year-old of ensnaring a full-grown man while he reveled in his life to the hilt," I screamed, my face turning crimson. They all averted their gaze when Atticus emerged from the house with a shovel in his hand.

"And the other on---e," I whispered, tears streaming uncontrollably.

"We wanted to ensure your safety and innocence," a lady, evidently unaware of the gravity of her words, mumbled in an attempt to rationalize their habit of constantly gossiping about me and hurling insults.

"Really? Then why couldn't any of you save Flora? She perished right under your noses; her father dug a grave beneath her bed, and not a single soul had the guts to inquire, 'Where did that girl g--o?'" I was nearly out of breath. "You know what? You were all cowards. Your men kept a watchful eye on us. Did you ever question your man about why he wanted to take advantage of me while I was drugged?" I approached Jack's mother, whose eyes bulged in astonishment.

"That's right, you have no idea. All of you were too preoccupied with blaming the victims, while your men preyed on innocent girls. No girl dared to step forward because she'd be accused of---of---enticing the man," it was so difficult to concentrate on anything else and put her lifeless body out of my mind. It felt as though someone had torn my chest open and stolen my heart.

She was my heart.

"That filthy bastard! I was just a daughter to him. I was his daughter’s friend, but he was so excited to fuck me that night," I spoke about Mara’s father, who slowly started to step away when the angry people looked at him.

"OH no! you all shouldn’t be angry; you are equally responsible for spreading lies about me and that fucking Zeon Holt," I screamed, slapping my forehead as I couldn’t control my emotions anymore, "You accused me of stealing Mara’s mate? He was my mate; he had always been my mate," I said, pointing at Atticus, who had tears in his eyes.

"But he too broke me," my voice broke and so did his stare. He lowered his face and dropped the shovel. "Nobody came to protect us, two sisters. You know what’s even sadder? All this time, I remained silent because I feared that pissing off somebody would get my sister into trouble. Little did I know, she was long gone," I couldn’t hold the tears back anymore.

It seemed like she died way back when, even before Zeon killed my baby.

"The funny part is that I didn’t even know what I did exactly to prove I was wrong, apart from the day when I married Mr. Holt, because all the accusations made my father sell me to an old man. You all wanted to save me; why didn’t you? Why did you let the devil save me--save for himself and his torture?" I looked into the eyes of everyone, one by one.

They all stood there with their heads down and shame covering their skins. But what will that shame do for me? Can it bring back all the days when I suffered? Can it bring back my baby and my sister?

"I lost ---my mate’s baby, but I never got a warm hug from him or soothing words," I had so much complaining in my eyes when I looked at Atticus, who looked defeated and was leaning his body against the wall on his side.

"I then realized one thing," I smiled. "I am the only one who can save me now," I announced and walked over to Atticus, who lowered his eyes even more, but I wasn’t there for him. I picked up the shovel and dragged it along as I made my way back to the mansion.

"It is time for those who made us suffer to pay," I muttered under a clenched jaw.

They all started scattering around as I passed them, leaving a way for me.
