Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 220: Chap-220*The Jealous One*
Author’s POV:
Years Ago:
"Happy birthday," Maleeka gently kissed Zeon’s cheek, and he didn’t pull away from her either. There was this weird hesitation in his heart regarding losing it all if he upset Maleeka.
Zeon celebrated his birthday with Maleeka that night. She had thrown him a massive party at her mansion. He had never felt so important in his entire life before. It almost felt like a dream to him, a dream he didn’t want to wake up from, but then his phone rang, and he had to walk away from Maleeka because it was his mate calling.
He lowered his face in guilt, persuading himself that it wasn’t his fault. He has to do whatever he can, just like other people, to get what he wants.
"Hey," Eva instantly spoke up when he picked up the call.
"Happy birthday," she wished him in a sad tone. Zeon ignoring her had given her a hint that he didn’t want to be with her.
Since she was not rich enough, like Maleeka, to get him something desirable, she had decided to gift him what he would like the most.
She wanted to ask him if he was too embarrassed about being seen with her. And if so, then maybe they shouldn’t forget about being mates.
It really hurt her whenever he saw her, and acted like he didn’t notice her because he was with Maleeka. It was also unfair to her that he was putting her on hold and enjoying his life with Maleeka.
"Thank you," Zeon responded without even asking her how she is doing these days. Eva had sort of convinced herself that out of the two girls, he would pick Maleeka, even if she was not his mate.
"I wanted to tell you something," she mumbled under her breath. She didn’t want to do it on his birthday, but she thought it would make him relieved, and he would be able to pursue things with Maleeka openly.
"Can’t you wait? I don’t want to be rude, but I’m kind of busy right now," he saw Maleeka come out of the mansion and heading his way. And he panicked. He would not want her to catch him talking to Eva. He didn’t even know that Maleeka knew they were mates.
"Bu---," he hung up on her because he didn’t want to piss off Maleeka.
"Who were you talking to?" She stopped beside him, a smile covering her lips.
"Nobody! It was a wrong number," He lied through a forced smile and then started walking with her to attend to his guests. She knew he lied, and that gave her more confidence. She was beginning to realize she had won him.
In the next few days, Eva kept calling Zeon, but he received her calls because he was either too busy going around places with Maleeka or too guilty to speak with Eva.
And then one day Eva had to catch him in shock to have a conversation with him and finally set herself and him free as well. She had been waiting in the school’s parking lot for him, and when he had parked his car, she reached him.
"Zeon!" Eva called for him, making his eyes widen at her face. His first reaction was to look around and make sure nobody was watching them. He wouldn’t want to be seen with him.
"What are you doing? I have told you we can’t talk in school," he whispered, grabbing her hand and dragging her behind his car so that nobody could see them and tell Maleeka.
"I tried calling you, but you didn’t have time," she innocently spoke, ignoring his grip around her arm.
"I will only take a minute, and don’t worry, it will all be okay after that," she proceeded to talk, and this time she gently freed her arm from him. He let out a deep sigh and then bobbed his head. He had to listen to her, or she would keep appearing in his sight, he thought.
"Okay! What is it?" He asked with an eye roll. It wasn’t like she was too stupid to not see how he was treating her. She just didn’t want to take in all the emotions and break down.
"I want you to reject me," she said as she fixed her bag’s strap over her shoulder. For some reason, it hit him like a silver arrow.
"What?" He scoffed, shaking his head to hear her clearly.
"I don’t want to be your mate anymore," she added with a stern look. She had suffered enough in the last few weeks from his hands. She might be a weak rogue, but that didn’t change the fact that she loved her dignity. She would rather accept the rejection than remain a side chic that he doesn’t even want to pay attention to.
"What? You are telling me that you don’t want to be my mate?" He asked her since he was having a hard time believing his ears.
"Yes! You heard me right," without shedding a single tear, as she has shed them all already, she told him.
"Zeon! I know you are happy with Maleeka, and that’s what I want for you," Eva continued to tell him. "You might have thought I was a fool enough because I am an Omega and also a rogue. I will be desperate and let you do whatever you want, however you treat me. But Zeonl! Nobody can buy me or my company anything flashy. I don’t care if I end up not having a mate anymore; I will be happier when I have no one to make me cry than to cry myself to sleep every night for someone who is cheating on me in plain sight," those words came from her heart. This was the speech she prepared a long time ago, but he never gave her a single chance to speak her heart to him. Now that she finally told him all, she felt light and good.
"Fine, if that’s what you want, that’s what I will do when we turn 18," instead of asking her to stay or explaining to her that he wasn’t actually seeing Maleeka, he decided to let her go. He knew at this point he would be asked to pick one, and he couldn’t lose Maleeka for a simple reason that was shining in front of him in the form of a car.
These luxuries have blinded him now.
Eva had not expected him to stay either, so she walked away without showing any emotion of hurt to him. It’s been a few weeks, and Eva has seen Maleeka and Zeon become a hot couple even when they hadn’t announced their relationship status to anyone.
"May I?" Eva heard a voice from beside her, watching Jacque from her holding his lunch in his hand and ask her for a seat.
She was sitting in the backyard because that is where she can eat peacefully without getting bullied.
"Sure!" Eva smiled at him, letting him sit down.
"You don’t like the cafeteria, I believe. I don’t too," Jacque was a very positive gamma. Unlike others, he didn’t care what others thought of him. He was just ready to help and support everyone who had a good heart.
"Well, you are asking an omega this question." Eva joked, and he offered her half of his sandwich because he had seen some kids dropping her lunch box and ruining it for her.
She accepted the sandwich with a smile, and the two exchanged numbers. While she was giggling and laughing with Jacque, she had no idea somebody was watching her.
Zeon almost couldn’t believe his eyes. She had moved on and found a new mate, probably.
How was it possible if he hadn’t rejected her?
Seeing her with someone felt like some enemy had daggered him right in the heart.
