Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 132: Chap-132-The New LoveBirds.*
Cynthia Dion:
My body began to feel light as I headed back to my room. I was simply gliding on my own, expending no energy whatsoever.
"What on earth is happening to me?" I pondered as I shut the door forcefully behind me and rushed to the bathroom to freshen up and compose myself before I landed in a predicament I couldn't escape from.
"Ugh!" When I raised my face to scrutinize my reflection in the mirror after splashing water on it, I was taken aback."
"My eyes turned crimson-red.
A sudden knock on the door jolted me from my vacant gaze, causing me to briefly avert my eyes from my reflection. When I returned my gaze to the mirror, the redness in my eyes had mysteriously disappeared.
"Cynthia! Don't waste your time," Mr. Holt exclaimed, relentlessly pounding on the restroom door from outside. "There are many preparations to attend to."
I emerged from the restroom, shaking my head at him for banging on the door so insistently. "I wasn't having a leisurely time in there."
Mr. Holt, appearing extremely exhausted, remarked, "You're aware that Atticus insists on only family members cooking for Mara, right?"
"Well, why doesn't he cook the meals himself then?" I blurted out, surprised by my own audacity.
"Quit arguing and lend a hand to Maleeka in the kitchen," he snapped, before hurrying to the bed to unwind.
I remained silent and made my way to the kitchen, all the while keeping a vigilant eye on the windows.
"Why is it so dark outside?" I shrugged, thinking that maybe a storm was approaching. Upon reaching the kitchen, I found Maleeka busy preparing the lasagna for the oven.
"So, you've finally decided to join us?" She shook her head in astonishment and said with irritation, "Who spends 5 hours in the bathroom?"
"I do; do you have an issue with that?" I muttered under my breath, shaking my head at her, as she stared at me in disbelief.
"You spent 5 hours in the bathroom," she reiterated before glancing away.
"5 hours?" I kept repeating to myself, convinced I had only been there for five minutes. However, when I glanced at the clock and saw the time, my mind went blank. I did send five hours in there.
She was still upset with me about the morning incident and instructed, "Quit lingering in there. Come and assist me." I couldn't help but wonder why Mr. Holt had never mentioned the excessive time I spent in the bathroom.
I shook my head and carried on cutting the veggies while positioned next to the counter, making my best effort to assist Maleeka. After many arduous hours of toil and collaborating with someone who wouldn't even meet my gaze, dinner was finally prepared.
Maleeka began arranging the items on the table, and I couldn't help but notice how utterly exhausted she looked. As I set the plates, I occasionally stole glances at her.
"Go put on something suitable. She's here," Mr. Holt declared as he exited the room, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
I responded with a brief "Okay" and hurried back to my room to change. He had already selected a pale purple knee-length dress for me, so I made no alterations.
I applied some light makeup and donned the outfit, leaving my hair untouched and flowing freely.
When I arrived, Mara was wearing a black dress and had a substantial amount of makeup on. They were all engaged in conversation in the living room. It was evident that she hadn't chosen these outfits herself; either Atticus had taken her to the mall or he had given her the dress.
Upon noticing me, she paused and exclaimed, "Hey!" Notably, she remained seated and didn't rise to greet me, which immediately caught my attention. She was certainly poised to become the Luna Queen.
I responded while selecting a seat at a distance from them, "Hello!"
Atticus and Mara had settled down, whereas Maleeka and Mr. Holt occupied adjacent seats.
Mr. Holt, with a look directed at me, inquired, "So, what are the plans?"
Atticus reached out, placing a hand on her shoulder and drawing her close, saying, "We've decided to spend some quality time together in Hawaii."
At the sight, which caused my body to tremble, I looked away and focused on my fingers.
As he declared his love for her, it felt as though my heart were being wrenched out of my chest.
"That's fine," Mr. Holt murmured. "Hopefully, I'll reveal it by tomorrow. I also have some plans for Cynthia." It seemed odd to bring me up in the conversation. I had no idea why he suddenly mentioned me, but I didn't want it to change my current demeanor, so I remained silent.
"That's great," Mara appeared to be concerned about me and commented, "You guys didn't have a chance to go on the honeymoon."
Even though she hoped for me to be alone with Mr. Holt to witness my discomfort, I knew she was malicious and wouldn't genuinely care about me.
"Perhaps it's time to start dinner?" Maleeka finally suggested, "The food is getting cold." She took the initiative and brought their meals.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Atticus smiled, standing up and extending his hand for Mara to take.
I felt quite anxious about everything unfolding around me. After Maleeka, I took their place at the end of the table and ate in silence.
They didn't engage in much conversation, but Atticus' constant displays of affection and admiration for Mara grated on my nerves.
Shortly after dinner, they began playing cards together, and I was instructed to take the dirty dishes to the kitchen.
When they barred me from joining them at the table and assigned me the task of cleaning the kitchen, I realized I hadn't been invited.
Despite the presence of maids and other household help, Maleeka had implemented a new rule, compelling me to oversee the kitchen in an attempt to make my life miserable.
I wasn't certain how much longer I could endure this, but the moment I laid eyes on my sister and ensured she was safe, I would leave, taking her with me. That was the current plan.
I was determined to escape with my sister before things took a turn for the worse.
