I walked past him into the room, and I heard him rushing after me. I was as mad as a bull, really angry, and somewhere inside, I knew that Thea had lied to me. She was hiding something, and I couldn't get her to spill the beans.

"Wait, Cynthia!" Atticus kept calling my name, but I went into the room without even looking back to catch a glimpse of his face.

I slammed the door and started pacing, but in just a few seconds, Atticus came in. He closed the door, stood in the corner for a bit, and then cleared his throat.

"You told me I could do anything," he said again, which made me stop pacing and close my eyes to calm down.

"And? I told you to go and do it now as well, or did I say something totally different from before?" I looked him in the eyes, still pretty upset, and he shook his head in disbelief.

"Then why are you so mad?" He crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe, watching me without blinking.

"Oh! You thought this was about you?" I laughed sarcastically. "I don't know how desperate you are for yourself, but I'm not. I was angry about something else, and you just got in the way." I waved my hands around while trying to calm my nerves.

"So it wasn't because you didn't like me spending time with Mara?" He asked me very politely, but the look on his face made it clear he wasn't buying my excuses.

"Atticus, don't push my buttons," I shook my head, giving him a warning look through my eyes to not mess with me right now.

"So, you wouldn't be mad if you found me sleeping with Mara tonight?" When he asked that, anger surged through my body, and it felt like something was squeezing my heart. I felt like I couldn't breathe, staring at his face in disbelief but trying to keep my composure.

"Tell me," he pressed on, not averting his gaze, as if he wanted to catch every detail of my reaction.

I wanted to say something to stand by my claim that I didn't care about what he does and who he does it with, but deep down, I was scared. What if he took my word and did it just to get on my nerves?

"Do it," I whispered very softly, my strength waning, but I said it for one reason alone. I wanted to test if his ego was big enough to push him into doing something just to irritate me. If he could still get under my skin with this, it would prove he hadn't changed, and I needed to change my approach.

"Sorry? Say it louder," he hunched over a bit, trying to act nonchalant, but the tension in his jaw gave him away.

"I said do it," I repeated my response, this time much louder. He straightened up and uncrossed his arms, glaring at me.

"HM," he nodded, his eyes scanning me from head to toe and then meeting mine again.

"I will bring Jack over," I shrugged to get under his nerves now.

"If he steps one foot on my property, I'll make sure he regrets it," his tone changed; it seemed like he was ready to threaten Jay and show me that he was possessive.

"Why, feeling a little jealous?" I scoffed, a sense of triumph coursing through me.

"I am," he admitted out of the blue, and my heart leaped to my throat. "Cynthia, I won't be ashamed to admit it," he finished, then opened the door to leave. As he walked out, he slammed the door so hard that it probably alerted everyone that the Alpha was on door-closing duty today.

"Asshole!" I muttered, gritting my teeth and breathing heavily.

'But at least he's honest about his feelings,' Thea, who had been less than truthful with me, had the audacity to approach me so casually.

'Screw you, Thea! What do you even know about feelings? You expect me to accept a man who never apologizes for his wrongdoings? You want me to fall for a guy who won't even tell me what I did to deserve punishments like that? Let's talk about feelings, shall we? Of course, I haven't shared my feelings with anyone. So, let's begin with you. I think you're the worst kind of wolf for hiding while your human was suffering,' I shouted with all my strength. Angry tears streamed down my cheeks as I finished, waiting for her response.

'No answer? I thought as much,' I muttered, sitting on the bed to catch my breath. I spent the rest of the day in my room and even had dinner alone. I didn't want to go out and give Atticus the satisfaction of getting under my skin while he flirted with Mara. He also didn't show up in the room all day, and who knows where he spent his time?

Around 10 p.m., a maid delivered fresh water and some snacks for the night. She told me that the Alpha had sent them to my room.

"Why didn't he come here himself?" I wondered aloud, "What an egotistical man he is!" I grumbled while quickly devouring the chocolate. It had been a stressful day, and snacking was helping me feel a bit better.

I stood up and left the room, still clutching the chocolate bar in my hand.

"Searching for Atticus?" Maleeka called out from behind me. I didn't need to turn around to see that she was smirking. It was evident in her voice.

"Where is he?" I asked nonchalantly, turning to face her.

"He left with Mara," she revealed, her eyes locked on my face. I simply nodded and took another bite of chocolate to divert my attention.

"You act as if you don't care, yet you married him. Was it for the Luna title?" she inquired, clearly trying to provoke me.

"Is that why you ensnared my brother?" she pressed on, causing me to roll my eyes in response.

"Are you implying that a simple omega like me could trap an alpha? Stop insulting him like that," I retorted, which made her frown. She seemed determined to spoil my mood, but she had no clue just how unpredictable Thea could be.
