Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 216: Chap-216*He Knew It Was Over*
Cynthia Dion:
"There's no proof of that. You guys are just trying to pin it on me so that Cynthia can pull through," Zeon's restless eyes conveyed, indicating he didn't anticipate things turning out this way.
"He's right. We know Cynthia messed up. There's no evidence against Mr. Zeon Holt," Mr. Illiac finally chimed in, staunchly defending him.
But we weren't finished yet.
"Maybe you'll only believe us if we show you some videos too," my voice suddenly calmed as I grabbed my phone and began sifting through it.
Zeon seemed lost, likely pondering what incriminating evidence I might have.
"See this! Does this look like someone who cherishes his wife and partner?" I turned the screen to them and played the video of Zeon and Mara engaging in intimate activities.
The shock I received in response was intense. Everyone was gasping and registering disbelief, and Zeon was now struggling to breathe.
Maleeka steadily directed her attention to the screen and broke down in tears.
"How could you do this to me?" she sobbed, pouring out her complaints.
I was taken aback by her reaction. Perhaps she hadn't considered him unfaithful by marrying me because he claimed he was under the influence of magic. But maybe it was also because she had now lost her chance to ever have a baby. Her senses must be awakening now.
"I didn't do anything. She made me do it," once again, Zeon pointed at me, attempting to shift all the blame onto me.
"You can't just attribute everything to hypnotism or magic. You mentioned that the elixir used for the magic process was no longer available. So, how were you still under her control even after she married me? That was after the whole punishment incident. If you were still influenced by her, then how did you get her punished?" Atticus discussed the timeline of events, leaving everyone in shock with dropped jaws.
"Maybe she had run out of the elixir at that time. I don't see you providing any proof," Zeon yelled out of frustration, constantly glancing at Maleeka, puzzled about why she wasn't taking his side.
"You want proof? Then let's present the evidence that it was you who was controlling her and attempting to control me," Atticus declared confidently and walked away to our bedroom.
I was perplexed about what he was going to bring.
As everyone remained captivated, I fixed my gaze on Zeon, whose eyes were no longer dry.
"I loved you so much, and you went ahead to sleep with that woman!" Maleeka whispered under her breath, taking steady breaths, yet it was a sign of the storm brewing inside her.
"This is not true, baby. See, she kept the video for so long. She knew the day she made you lose our baby, she would use this video to cloud your brain and hurt you more," he began to mumble, but the counselors didn't seem too convinced anymore.
"Let's wait for Alpha Atticus," the counselor uttered, prompting Zeon to calm down and cease throwing around accusations.
"This is what you wanted," Zeon yelled at me while I maintained my composure.
"A mere omega comes here--," as he tried to say one more word, I interrupted him.
"Maybe the council doesn't realize anymore that I am not just a mere omega. I'm the daughter of, and very soon, I'm applying for the status of the alpha of that fallen pack," I raised my voice, revealing my plans from the past few days.
The counselor exchanged bewildered glances while inhaling long breaths of confusion.
Simultaneously, Atticus arrived with some papers in his hands. He handed them to the council and distributed some copies to his sister, leaving the others on the table for Zeon to fetch.
"This is the DNA report of the hair found in my stomach that was used as magic to control me," he yelled, prompting everyone to rise from their seats and turn to Zeon.
"The DNA matches Zeon's DNA!" Atticus declared.
Maleeka stood up, breathing heavily. "What-- you said--," she gulped and faced Zeon.
"How dare you not only cheat on the Alpha's sister, accuse another Alpha's Daughter, abuse her, and even try to control the Alpha of the pack?" he yelled.
Zeon calmly placed the papers on the table. Before any of us could process his next move, he seized Maleeka and held a silver knife to her throat.
"Ahhhh!" I gasped in terror, and others reacted the same way.
"What the heck, leave my sister," Atticus yelled, attempting to approach him. However, Zeon pressed the knife a little too hard, and a warning pricked her skin, causing all of us to stand back.
"You are t---trying to hurt me?" Maleeka stuttered. Finally, the haze of love was wearing off.
But it was the worst time because now she had lost most of what she considered herself.
"Shut up," he yelled at her, pressing the knife even harder than before.
"Zeon! Let her go. She has done nothing wrong but to love you unconditionally," now that we knew he wasn't getting more triggered with us raising our voices at him, Atticus started using a different approach.
I didn't expect it to lead in this direction. I wish we had been more careful.
"Love me? Who asked her to love me?" He sounded so offended by the word love.
"Huh? Who wanted her?" he continued to yell, making her close her eyes and sob.
"Then you should just reject her. Nobody would force you to come back," Atticus whispered calmly, trying to seem understanding of Zeon, but, in reality, he cannot leave anymore.
He will be thrown in prison for all his sins.
"Really? Do you think I want to leave?" Zeon confused us more.
"If it's about status and luxuries, you will get them all. You have earned those yourself; you will not be stripped of them," Atticus was saying all the right things to stop Zeon from hurting his sister.
"Luxury, money, and status--not everybody wants them. There is something that is more sacred than all of this," Zeon's voice broke while a weak smile appeared on his lips, "your fated mate."
Maleeka flinched at the words on his lips.
I have heard him talk about his fated mate a few times. Maleeka even mentioned her as the worst mate ever.
But the way he was recalling her seemed contradictory to Maleeka's statements.
"And sadly, I can never be with her again," Zeon uttered while sniffling. "And you want to know why?"
Maleeka started shaking as she heard him dive deep into that topic.
"Please," Maleeka whispered, begging him for something.
Was it to spare her life?
Or to not talk about his mate?
"Your mate leaving you is not my sister's fault, Zeon. You are angry at her just because she is your second chance mate?" Atticus sounded so worried. His body was constantly flinching every time Zeon moved.
"No! Not at all. That is not enough reason to hurt someone. Do you think I am a cold-hearted bastard who will punish someone just because they are his mate?" Zeon broke down before he managed to take a deep breath and compose his posture.
"Then what is it?" I asked, coming out from behind Atticus.
"Cynthia!" he said my name and then shook his head. "Your face reminds me of your mother," he said, clenching his jaw, making me think about what was going on.
"You think this woman is innocent?" he yelled at me as he shook the knife against Maleeka's throat.
"This! Right here is the cold-hearted killer, who was so full of herself that anyone else's life meant nothing to her," as Zeon yelled, I felt like my heart dropped in my chest.
Maleeka bit her tongue and whimpered. "Please not in front of my brother," she begged.
We were now silently staring at them.
"What has my sister done?" The sadness in Atticus' voice at the realization that it was maybe his sister who had done something to Zeon was very heartbreaking.
"Sure! I'll tell you everything, and in the end, I will ask you how you feel. If you would punish your mate's killers just like I did or not?" Zeon added.
