Eva had stopped focusing on Zeon, even when her wolf craved to be near him. It was as if she had accepted the reality that they were two different people with two different lifestyle choices. He wanted luxury and popularity, and she craved love and loyalty.

She had learned to avoid him and his friends, especially Maleeka. Now that she wasn’t wandering around or looking at Zeon, Maleeka didn’t bother her too much. Maleeka had been super happy hanging out with Zeon all the time.

Zeon, however, had started to feel a little low. Every time he saw Eva hanging around with her new friends, he would feel jealous. However, he was so good at masking his feelings that Maleeka never caught him stealing glances at Eva.

One day, when Maleeka didn’t attend school, Zeon decided to speak to Eva. She had just said goodbye to her friends and walked out of the school when Zeon parked his car in her way and shocked her.

"What is this, Zeon?" she yelled at him, watching him get out of the car and reach for her.

"Get inside," he ordered, opening the passenger-side door for her.

"And what makes you think you can order me around?" She had grown up and become confident after many months of him avoiding her.

"Eva! We need to talk," he almost requested, but she shook her head at him.

"No! You want to talk, but there is nothing left for us to talk about. When I was trying to get in contact with you, you were busy licking her ass, and now that she isn’t around, you want to talk to me?" She raised her voice after realizing how badly he injured her when he left for money and fame.

"Please, just listen to me once," he begged this time, requesting her through his eyes to get into the car before somebody sees him begging before her.

She rolled her eyes, and just when she was about to get into the car, she stepped back.

"Now what happened?" He inquired in confusion.

"I am not getting into her car," she stubbornly shook her head, and he slapped his forehead.

"Please!" he requested and jumped a little on his spot like a child.

After staying out for a moment, she finally gave up and got into the car with him.

He instantly rushed to the driver's side before she came out, changing her mind.

Once they hit the road, she took some time to ask him where he was taking her.

"Where are we going?" She looked around the unfamiliar road and raised a concern.

"I’m taking you to my apartment," he answered, not breaking the stare from the road.

There was no way he said that, she thought in her head.

"You are taking me to my home?" She tried to help him say it the right way, but that wasn’t the case. She heard him right.

"Eva! I’m taking you to my home to talk about us," once he got pissed off, he repeated himself, but a bit too aggressively this time.

"You don’t need to take me home to talk about us. Stop by a park and we will talk," she had surprised him a lot with this new change in her.

She wasn’t putting up with his stupidity and stood up for herself.

"Why? Is it really this bad to be in my home with me?" He wasn’t understanding her point. He had hurt her and basically let her go while he stayed with Maleeka for her status and money.

Now that Eva had prepared herself and convinced her wolf to move on from him, he was trying to crawl back into her life.

But she knew he would hurt her again once he saw Maleeka and some new gifts she had bought for him.

"I don’t want to get under the radar of your wealthy and powerful girlfriend," she made it clear what had upset her.

She was super nice to him when she was breaking up with him, but then later she had to see him with her every day, and it killed her slowly.

"Please, can you stop bringing her up?" He asked, and Eva grunted. She didn’t even know why she agreed to sit in a car with him.

Once they reached the apartment complex, her eyes doubled in size. It was the most beautiful building ever.

She instantly felt she didn’t stand a chance in front of Maleeka.

"Come!" He took her to his apartment and noticed how silent she got suddenly.

Once he had welcomed her into his home, he offered her to sit down while he brought her something to eat.

"I’m fine. Just finish what you wanted to talk about so that I can go back home," she lacked energy sitting in a house that Maleeka had got him.

"What is going on, Eva? You were never so rude to me before. Now it seems like you don’t even want to spend a minute with me," Zeon sat down defeatedly when she asked him not to bother bringing her anything because she wasn’t comfortable sitting in his apartment.

"You really have to ask? You know what happened. I am fine with you deciding to lie to yourself, but I’m not going to allow you to lie to me. You talking to me and then trying to make an effort to have a word with me is only going to hurt me and my wolf more. We need to just let it go and continue with how things are going," she stole eyes from him because the tears being born in her eyes made her think she looked weak.

"I understand I messed up. I messed up a lot, but we can be friends," he reached for her hand, but his demand shocked her.

"We were friends, and then you convinced me it would be fine if we accepted the mate bond until later you rejected the idea. You wouldn’t even attend my calls and would get all annoyed when I called you. How dare you even suggest we can be friends again? I’m not going to become your doormat because you are feeling lost," she said, having enough of Zeon making decisions for them.

She got up from her seat, and without listening to him, she exited.

Zeon was left shocked and sad in his spot.

"I didn’t know it would be so hard to pursue things with you again," he watched the open door and remembered how she left the apartment without sparing him a glance.
