Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 210: Chap-210*Maybe There Was Never A Mate Bond*
Cynthia Dion:
"We would have asked for your help since you are a trainer, but I don’t think my wolf would like it very much. You know we don’t want to trigger her," I added once I saw him opening his damn mouth to probably say something.
"Hm!" he clenched his jaw, probably unhappy with the whole new change in everybody’s perspectives.
"Then you don’t need to apologize. I would like your wolf to realize her mistakes, and then she should be the one to apologize," Maleeka stopped me from apologizing, which brought a sad smile across Mr. Holt’s lips.
He had come to realize he could not even threaten her to leave now because everything had been shifted from him to me.
"Right Zeon? Her apology means nothing if it was her wolf who caused all this. Making her apologize just means nothing," she whispered to her man, holding his hand and trying to get an insight into what he was thinking.
Now that she has turned attention to him, we all looked his way. He had been awfully silent until she grabbed his attention.
"Yeah! She is right," He agreed with Maleeka absent-mindedly. One could tell he wasn’t happy to speak up and definitely not convinced that he made the right decision by pretending to leave Maleeka, which ended him in this trouble.
"You two should go and rest. Maleeka had been awake and worried for you the whole night too," Atticus got up while I followed him. He shook hands with Mr. Holt, who had lost this time.
He gave me a weak and fake smile before wrapping his arm around Maleeka and taking her to the bedroom.
"Maleeka!" Atticus voiced just when she was about to disappear from our sights, "Just in case anything happens and Mr. Holt gets hypnotized," he was about to talk when Mr. Holt interrupted him.
"There is no need for that. The liquid can’t be made ever again," the sadness in his voice at the thought of the liquid being gone gave me chills down my spine. I wonder what his intentions were with the liquid next.
"How would you know? So we should be careful. I will have a guard stand in your room all the time just to be sure," Atticus gestured at his guard, who was already called into the living room for that purpose.
"Don’t you think it is a little invasion of privacy?" Mr. Holt protested, and it raised my suspicions even more about him.
"True, once the baby is born, there will be no need to be so concerned. And also, hopefully, Cynthia will be fine by that time too, so everything will be sorted out," Atticus gave him a smile and a head nod, which Mr. Holt couldn’t agree with anymore.
Once they had left for their rooms, Atticus and I rushed into our room and started discussing the whole thing.
"He was using some liquid? It means elixir!" He knew Mr. Holt must have used a witch to get him that elixir.
"He has a witch, or maybe had a witch that helped him," we both said in unison. It was getting confusing and even terrifying now.
"What if she is still her by his side?" I shook my head and slapped my forehead.
"If she was still by his side, he wouldn’t be suffering so much. And also wouldn’t run out of that elixir," he added, but it still didn’t comfort me.
There was so much that I noticed, but I couldn’t point out which one to go after first.
"So that is why he is feeling miserable now. He was in power as long as he had that liquid," I said, and then I remembered how he looked so cocky when Maleeka spoke about the karma thing.
"Atticus---," before I could ask him, Thea woke up to scold us.
‘I am the problem? You're going to put me to sleep?’ She sounded upset that we had decided to put her to sleep without even speaking to her.
"He said a lot of things that caught my attention," Atticus was walking back and forth and talking while Thea was also complaining.
I was confused about who to talk to first.
"Okay! One of you needs to shut up and wait for their turn," I almost shouted, and Atticus stopped pacing to look at my face.
"Thea?" He raised his brow, and I bobbed my head.
"She is upset that we are putting her to sleep," I said with a sigh.
"Tell her we won’t; there is no liquid left, so she is safe now," he mumbled, "or should we leave our wolves to---." He didn’t finish because I shut him up with a grunt.
"We are not doing that," I shook my head at him. He had been in some weird kink, and we were not doing that for now.
"Oh!" he said with a sigh.
‘Thea! Listen to me; I am not putting you to sleep. You heard the liquid thing, right? So we were only lying to them so that we could stall them. Now here is a thing. You need to stay in hiding for now,’ I finished in a hurry because I wanted to speak to Atticus.
‘So, does that mean I am not in danger?’ She inquired, breaking my heart for her.
‘You are fine; I promise I will never let any harm come your way,’ I promised, and then I turned to talk to Atticus, who was waiting for me.
"Now! I have a few things that I have noticed in the last few things," I told Atticus, and he sat down on the bed. He grabbed a chair, placed it in front of me, and sat down with me.
"Tell me about them," he was touching the tip of his finger with the tip of mine, making me feel comfortable.
"So, back when I went to the farmhouse to check up on Maleeka, I heard their conversation. Maleeka was talking about Zeon’s mates. I didn’t know he had other mates before Maleeka as well. Which makes me ask Thea a question. Did she ever even feel a mate bond with him? Or did he lie about that, too?" I instantly got engrossed in my own question.
"Wait! I don’t really recall much because I was in the werewolf academy at that time and taken care of by the nuns. I had heard some things happening back in the pack, but how much can I remember, anyway? I was just a child. So in short, I have no idea," he shook his head, and I rolled my eyes at him for dragging the answer so much.
"They have talked about it. Maleeka was mentioning his mates," I mumbled, and then asked Thea to help me out here.
"I am going to ask Thea if she still feels a connection with him, because I don’t remember him rejecting us," that part made Atticus straighten his back and focus on me.
We were going to be in trouble if he hadn’t rejected me, because I don’t remember hearing anything that day when he beat me and left me on our honeymoon.
Prior to this, I thought maybe I was in so much pain that I couldn’t remember, but now it was beginning to make me worry.
‘Thea! Do you still feel a mate bond with Mr. Holt? Please tell me you don’t,’ I almost begged. My heart was ready to sink into
my chest if she gave me bad news.
‘What?’ she asked,
‘Tell me,’ I muttered while shaking my legs.
‘I--- do,’ as she answered, my heart sinking into my chest. As my eyes widened in shock, Atticus too gulped.
‘What?’ I inquired, and she remained silent.
"What did she say?" he asked me in bewilderment.
"She said----," Before I could answer him, Thea interrupted me.
‘Hey, I was just joking because you two have also shocked me back in there,’ her statement relaxed me into letting out a sigh, and Atticus reacted to that too.
‘So?’ I knew there were only two ways she could answer a question: either yes or no! Now that she has told me, yes! It was a lie.
‘No!’ Her answer made me smile widely.
"She doesn’t feel anything," I gave Atticus the good news, who filed his face in his hands and sighed in relief.
‘Actually, I have never felt any mate bond with him to begin with,’ we were in the midst of celebrating when her interruption made my face go blank.
"What is it now?" Atticus held my hands because he noticed how out I looked. "Cynthia! Tell me, you are scaring me," he pressed my hands tightly, and a tear ran down my eyes.
"I was never his mate," I announced, and a gasp heaved across Atticus’s lips.
All this time, he kept me with him, thinking he was also my mate and made my life hell when, in reality, I had only one mate.
