Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 92: Chap-92*Pregnant And Scared.*
**Cynthia Dion:**
"That’s none of your business," I whispered, attempting to avert my gaze from him.
"Atticus?" I turned around at the sound of a voice and found Maleeka standing before us, closely watching our expressions.
"Sister!" He sounded delighted as he called to her and rushed past me with a cheerful grin, wrapping his arms around her. That clarifies why he seemed oblivious to my previous remarks.
It seems he spotted his sister behind me and wished to shield her from hearing me discuss how badly he had treated me.
She appeared genuinely content, which put me at ease. I scanned her quickly and felt a reassuring sense of relief when I saw her in high spirits.
"What are you two still doing at home? Didn’t you win the contest entry tickets?" She looked a bit unwell, but her overall demeanor was joyful, and her movements were somewhat restricted, probably to avoid making herself feel worse.
Atticus rolled his eyes and shook his head, saying, "Mr. Holt advised against her participating."
I contemplated whether I should bring up the text messages with her. She didn't seem upset with me, so I guessed that maybe Atticus had informed her that I hadn't sent those messages.
"Oh!" She let out a sigh and moved carefully towards the bed, taking a seat.
I beamed at her, my focus solely on her. "Welcome back home," I said with a warm smile to greet her.
She lifted her head and returned a very friendly smile; the way she gazed at my face made my heart skip a beat.
"Thank you," she replied with a smile on her lips.
"Why don’t you encourage her to participate in the contest?" he suggested. He wanted his sister to do what he couldn't: persuade me to face Mr. Holt's challenge.
"I'm not sure, Atticus. You know Mr. Holt. He'll really hurt her if he catches her on the field today," she replied, thankfully not pressing me about his request. She also recognized that our classmates was a very cruel person.
"You know everyone at school will pick on her, even the teachers will be harsh," he argued against the idea. But that's unfair to her. He was trying to make his sister see the importance of me joining this game by speaking forcefully.
"I appreciate your concern, but why not make sure she's safe at school instead?" Maleeka whispered, her gentle voice providing great comfort. You could see their strong bond in the way they reacted to the situation.
Atticus, on the other hand, was louder and more forceful.
"I--" He paused and shifted his gaze away from me.
"Atticus!" she exclaimed. "Go back to school and support your friend."
Hearing her refer to Rosalie as his friend stirred something inside me. Atticus shot me a knowing look because he was aware of how I would react.
"She has the support of all her friends, and I stayed back to greet you," he informed his sister, giving the impression that the sole reason he was at home was to welcome her. He couldn't openly express his affection for me, given the various restrictions between us now. Especially after turning me down.
"A friend can never replace a mate. Go be by her side," Maleeka whispered, pouting and holding his hand, rubbing them together.
She then gave him a reassuring smile to let him know she would be okay, and he eventually turned and left. I waited for us to be alone, and when that moment arrived, I began to talk with her openly.
"Where have you been, and how are you doing?" I inquired as I took a seat beside her on the bed. It was surprising how quickly she accepted me, and she was even friendlier than the others.
I figured that if I ever had an older sibling, they would be just like her.
"I've been at the hospital. I'm sure you know," she replied softly.
"Zeon has been coming to see me from time to time, but my brother always came to check on me," she said, avoiding eye contact.
"Oh! I wanted to come, but... hey, I wanted to talk about something," I cleared my throat and said.
"About those text messages, I didn't send them," I began to explain urgently.
"Yeah, Atticus told me," she said, keeping her head down and avoiding eye contact.
"I will never say those things about you or anyone else," I assured, feeling remorseful for being caught in this mess and seeing such a kind person like her suffer so much abuse.
"I have some good news, Cynthia! I'm pregnant!" When she shared this with me, she wore a big grin, which made me smile even wider.
"Congratulations!" I said joyfully, wrapping my arms around her. I was glad she accepted my gentle embrace.
I had to let go of her and give her a concerned look as she whispered, "I'm just scared."
"Afraid of what? Is everything alright?" I asked with worry. She let out a sad sigh before responding to my question.
"What if he harms the baby again?" I felt like the ground was disappearing beneath me as soon as she asked me that.
"What are you talking about?" I stammered, my smile vanishing. The way she said it sent shivers down my spine.
What did she mean by that, once more?
"Who would harm your baby?" I stammered, my body trembling with dread as I posed the question. She stayed quiet for a moment, then tilted her head and intensified her gaze into mine.
"Zeon!" she whispered, saying his name with concern, making sure no one could overhear.
The fear of being overheard while discussing him was clearly visible on her face.
"I didn't send those messages. I would never ask him to--" I started to explain as everything began to fall into place. Her fear and Atticus' anger towards me. Did they think I was asking Zeon to harm her baby? I mean, that's what the texts said.
"I understand. I'm only talking about him," she immediately took hold of my hand to show that she believed me when I said I was innocent.
