Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 117: Chap-117*The Ruckus *
Cynthia Dion:
Ever since I heard Mr. Holt talk about our honeymoon, I've been feeling unwell and frightened. Maleeka caught my attention as I was leaving the room in an attempt to find Atticus and talk with him.
"Hey Maleeka, how are you doing?" I grinned at her, thinking maybe she was concerned for me, as I saw her face turn pale. She appeared a bit worn out, almost as if she didn't want to talk to me at all.
She gently turned her face away from me and said, "I'm fantastic."
"Is everything alright?" I inquired with a hint of concern. She lowered her head and nervously rubbed her hands together as she stared at the floor.
"Don't we have a strong bond?" She finally turned to face me, her tone critical. "Don't I treat you well?" She shook her head at me.
"I'm sorry, but I don't understand. Have I done anything to make you think that?" I looked at her with confusion, a weak smile on my lips.
"Cynthia!" she said to me sternly. "Answer me."
Since we had been so kind to each other, I really didn't expect her to ask me a question like that.
She didn't stop pressing me with the question, so I finally said, "We have a good bond."
"Then why do you keep putting poison in Zeon’s ears against me?" She said it in a spiteful tone. She had never sounded this angry with me before.
"Maleeka! What are you talking about? I never mentioned you to him," I was genuinely confused about what had gone wrong again. Since she brought it up once more, I was perplexed.
I recalled Atticus accusing me of sending strange requests and commands to Mr. Holt in the past. So, why was she bringing it up again?
"You recently instructed him to harm me in order for me to lose my child. Cynthia, I’m very disappointed in you!" She sternly scolded me, pointing her finger directly at my face, "This time, I won’t allow you to get away with doing these foolish things."
Hearing such accusations from her stunned me. Why would I want her child to suffer?
"Maleeka! "I don’t know what he has told you, bu---," she cut me off before I could say anything else.
"I saw your texts on his phone. So don’t even try to lie to me," she shouted at me, then quickly covered her lips as if to silence herself.
"Listen, I know you're also trying to lure my brother into your trap," she warned me before leaving, her voice filled with hatred, "I'm telling you to stay away from him and stop poisoning his heart against Mr. Holt."
She scoffed and walked away from me. I was in utter shock at this point.
I was still shaken from our interaction and filled with fear.
It was clear that she didn't want to lose Mr. Holt, and she also didn't want to see me with her brother. In other words, her issues were solely with me.
I managed to compose myself and made the decision to find Atticus to inform him about the conversation I had with his sister.
I caught up to him as he was walking down a corridor.
While I waited for him to get closer, I noticed an oil bottle on the floor in the center.
"Seriously? Why do people keep leaving things behind?" I shook my head at how careless the maids had become. I had personally witnessed several maids taking advantage, but I had never voiced a complaint.
"Cynthia!" While I was focused on the bottle, Atticus accidentally bumped into me.
"What are you doing here?" He asked in a low tone.
"I've been wanting to talk to you about something," I said in a whisper, looking around to ensure nobody was watching us.
"Same! I realized much later that we forgot to mark each other last night." He rested his hand beside me on the wall and flashed a beautiful smirk.
"I don’t think we should do that before resolving some of the important matters," I said, looking away to avoid his gaze, and he sensed my uneasiness.
"Cynthia! What's going on? Did something happen?" His expression changed. He no longer looked cocky.
He was serious as I explained, "Your sister happened. She just threatened me to stay away from you and not involve Mr. Holt in any trouble with you. Atticus! Why won't your sister leave him alone? Is she waiting for something bad to happen before she leaves him?" I couldn't contain myself.
Everything has its limit, and his sister simply tolerates whatever abuse he inflicts. She doesn't even have any intention of leaving him, which frustrates me because she expects me to remain silent about his mistreatment, and I can't do that.
"You're talking about my sister like this, aren't you?" He gave me a disapproving look.
"Atticus! Your focus is on my tone, even though your sister said all of this to me," I shook my head firmly. But just as we were about to continue the conversation, I heard footsteps in the distance.
"It’s Mr. Holt," I muttered as I left Atticus and headed to my room.
Once I was in my room, I opened my inbox and noticed that I hadn't received any texts from Maleeka. I could still remember sending her a few texts and regular pleasantries, but everything was gone. Mr. Holt had returned my phone to me.
"I should change the password," I whispered to myself and changed it, just as I received a message from Atticus.
Atticus: Although I can see you're upset, Maleeka isn't the villain here. She's just very concerned about her baby's well-being. The fact that I trust you, Cynthia, should matter to you, despite the overwhelming evidence against you.
After reading his message, I expected to be furious, but instead, I felt relieved. A smile crept onto my face as I reached the conclusion.
"At least he's on my side," I was about to comfort myself, when a loud scream echoed throughout the entire mansion.
My heart seemed to sink into my chest. As soon as my brain recognized that it was Maleeka's scream, chills ran all over my body.
"Oh, God!" I exhaled and rushed out of the room. Whimpers and cries could be heard all around.
I followed the cries and arrived at the scene of the commotion.
